Chapter 211: Chapter 211
Elara POV
We are still in a haze of awe and disbelief when we enter Malachi’s cottage. Mindy immediately jumps up when she sees me and rushes to my side with a jacket, which I graciously accept.
“Are you okay?” She asks eagerly. “Can I stop worrying now?”
“You can stop worrying,” I laugh, hugging her tightly. “Thank you for caring.”
“Now that order has been restored,” Braden says. “I think it’s safe to say Isolde’s firebombs will do the trick when we destroy the facility.”
“And then some,” Kane chuckles. “But we should be extra careful now that we know what those things can do.”
“Yeah,” Axel agrees, draping his arm around my shoulder. “If you can’t throw, don’t pick it up.”
“Hey,” I protest, playfully shoving my elbow into his ribs. “Are you saying I can’t throw?”
“Not at all,” he laughs, kissing the tip of my nose. “But next time, throw a little harder.”
“Whatever,” I say, pushing him away. “I’m going to bed. It’s been a long day, and the sun will soon rise.”
“We’re meeting Orson at ten,” Braden reminds us as I walk to our room.
I wash myself thoroughly in the shower, scrubbing away any signs of an explosion and dirt from our shift. Refreshed, I wrap a towel around myself, looking forward to sleeping on Stella’s pillow and enjoying her scent.
But when I step into our room, I find Axel sitting on the bed, staring at his new wrist tattoo.
“Does it bother you?” I ask softly, sitting beside him.
“Why do you think she gave this to us?” He asks thoughtfully.
“It was a gift,” I reply softly. “A second chance to be reunited with your loved ones. You said it yourself; it’s the ones staying behind who suffer. Now, you have the choice to return, and nobody has to mourn you.”
“Which means we’re going to die,” he replies solemnly.
“I don’t think ...”
“She knows one or all of us are going to die,” he interrupts me. “Of all the gifts she could hand out, she gave us this. It’s the only logical conclusion, Elara.”
“If you’re right, and I’m not saying I agree with you, it’s okay,” I reply. “If I die, I’ll give up my wolf and return to you. You won’t have to miss me, and Stella will live to know her mother.”
“This might sound ungrateful and superficial, but I don’t know if I can live without my wolf,” he replies sadly. “I don’t know how to be a human, and I will miss it. I will never shift and run with the pack again. Hell, I don’t even know if I’m even allowed to be alpha as a human.”
“You don’t have to decide right now,” I say, placing my hand over his tattoo. “Chances are that you don’t have to decide at all. But at least you have a choice. Let that be enough for now.”
“And when you say things like that, I’ll give up my wolf in a heartbeat,” he smiles, cupping my face and kissing me softly.
I curl my fingers around his neck and into his hair when he tediously slowly glides his fingers down my neck. I do not move when he pulls the towel aside. He leans forward and kisses me softly on my collarbone.
I close my eyes and sigh when his lips move to my neck, and sigh contentedly when he pushes me back onto the soft mattress. His lips capture mine, and I return his kiss eagerly.
Sparks ignite over my skin when he glides his hand from my ankle and up to my thigh. I wrap my arms around his neck, pulling him closer. His hand covers my breast, and I moan in pleasure when he toys with my nipple.
I am numb with desire when he stands up. We maintain eye contact as he takes off his pants, and my heart skips a beat when I feast my eyes on his naked glory. He is gorgeous.
His eyes glide over my body in admiration.
“Perfect,” he mumbles, kneels over me, and captures my lips.
I wrap my legs around his waist, his erection hard against my skin. I am panting for air when his lips trail down towards my breasts. I gasp in delight when his mouth’s warmth covers my breast.
My fingers cramp into his hair, pulling him closer as desire pulses through me. I want more, so much more. I moan loudly when he gently bites my nipple. It is much too soon for my liking when he stops caressing my breasts and kissing me again.
He settles himself between my legs and positions his erection.
“Dear goddess,” I gasp, digging my nails into his skin when he penetrates, and joy jolts through me.
Axel slowly moves in and out, and I desperately cling to him. I start moving my hips, mimicking his rhythm until we move in unison. He leans over and kisses me, increasing his speed.
My hands roam his back as I am swept away with desire. The deep warmth between my legs starts pooling wider, making it hard to breathe.
“Oh, Axel,” I cry out as my orgasm hits me.
I am still trembling, riding the last wave of my orgasm when he climaxes. He pulls me tightly against his chest, kissing me tenderly before he pulls out and rolls over.
“I stand by what I said earlier,” he mumbles, pulling me close to his chest. “But I don’t think I’ll ever be able to give this up. To give you up.”
“That’s a choice you’ll never have to make,” I whisper. “Because I’ll always be yours, no matter where you are.”
