Chapter 116: Chapter 116

Elara POV

“Hold on,” Mason calls out as I grab Stella’s things. “This is crazy, Elara. You can’t rescue them with a baby and a vampire. You’re endangering your daughter.”

“You just want your brothers to rot, so you can take over,” I look at him furiously. “You plotted against them before; now it’s so much easier for you.”

“That’s not ...”

“It is,” I cut him off. “And you’re manipulating me by calling me a bad mother. It’s insulting and irritating that you think I would,” I scoff while placing Stella in her stroller.”

“I’m coming with,” Mason says adamantly. “I want to help.”

It is on the tip of my tongue to tell him off, but then I decide against it. He might get it into his head to spoil our plans. It would be safer if he tags along.

“Fine,” I sigh, slinging Stella’s diaper bag over my shoulder. “But you better stay out of my way.”

“Elara, are you ready?” Braden pops into the room.

“Yes,” I nod. “Lead the way.”

“About that,” Braden clears his throat. “We need a distraction, and you’re it. With your elemental power.”

“But I ...”

“Don’t worry,” he interrupts, placing his hands on my shoulders. “All you need is focus and visualising it.”

I chew on my bottom lip, overthinking his words. There is a chance that I might screw it up, but if I do not try, I will definitely screw it up.

I walk to the window, looking at the trees and the garden. I tap into my whirlwind of emotions, and the wind picks up. I added the fear about Selena’s safety, and my mates locked up. A small tornado starts in the garden, and I concentrate on it. I pour in every ounce of anger, and it grows mightier and bigger until it starts ripping off leaves and branches. I will the tornado move towards the High Council’s building. The tornado leaves destruction as it moves. Ripping off roofs and unearthing trees.

People start screaming and running to find shelter, and the guards from the mansion rush to the High Council to assist the members.

“That should do it,” Braden says, touching my shoulder. “It’s time to get out of here.”

“We’re borrowing Kane’s SUV,” Braden says, holding up a set of keys.

Mason helps with loading Stella’s things in the back as I climb in and Braden gets behind the wheel. Guards are still running around trying to fix the damage I have caused.

“What’s the plan?” Mason asks from the back.

“Elara will be kicking up dust while Anton and I free the alphas,” Braden replies.

“Anton?” I gasp, turning in my seat to look at him. “Like the Elder Anton?”

“Yup,” Braden smiles.

“But he kidnapped me!” I shriek. “How can you trust him?”

“Yes, I trust him,” Braden replies firmly. “He didn’t kidnap you; he hid you.”

I close my eyes and shake my head. Arguing about this is not going to get us anywhere, and my mates need me.

Braden parks in the woods and turns towards me.

“Okay, Elara,” he says seriously. “I’m going in, once we’re outside, cover us.”

Kane POV

I wake up with a splitting headache. I have no idea where I am or what time it is. As soon as I move, white-hot pain races up my arms.

“Silver shackles,” Axel croaks from the cell next to mine.

Dread settles in the pit of my stomach. Is Father acting as Alpha now? Oh, Goddess, what about our twins, Elara and Stella?

The sound of approaching footsteps tears me away from my thoughts.

“Looks like you could use my help, Kane,” a figure in front of my cell says.

“Elder Anton?” I ask, shocked.

“Anton is here?” Axel asks in disbelief, scrambling on the other side of the wall.

“Keep it down,” Anton whispers harshly, holding a finger. “I’ve come to get you out of here.”

“How can we trust you?” I glare at him.

“You don’t have a choice if you want to get out of here,” Anton replies. “The Council intends to hold you until their grand plan is executed.”

“What plan?” Axel asks.

“My accomplice will explain in due time,” Anton replies. ‘But the execution could take months, even years.”

“Okay, point taken,” I grunt. These damn chains are sucking away all my strength and power, and I need to mind link with Axel. “Now, can you please get us out of here?”

“Well, it’s not like I came here to exchange recipes,” Anton grins, holding a set of keys. “I swiped this,” Anton says, slipping the key into the lock. “The High Guards upstairs are oafish dolts, but they will still notice they’re missing soon. So, hurry.”

The door quietly swings open. He walks over and frees me from the chains before he runs to Axel’s cell. I step out of the cell, and Anton waves us down the hall and through a heavy steel door. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

“Hello, gentlemen,” Braden emerges from the shadows.

“Did you kill the guards?” I glare at him.

“Nah,” he chuckles. “I choked them out. So, chop-chop before they wake up.”

Suddenly, a tiny, high-pitched cry echoes down the hall. Our babies! They are here.

“I can’t stand those damn babies,” a guard grunts in the distance. “What’s the point of even keeping them alive?”

I take a deep breath, barely holding myself back from snarling and lunging at the disgusting asshole. Axel looks at me and nods toward the hall. Braden follows Axel and me as we run towards the crying.

A guard towers over our children, and Braden quickly grabs him from behind, covers his mouth and sinks his fangs into his neck. The guard squirms and wiggles before he turns limp.

My heart pangs when I lean over to pick up Lanie. They look so sad and scared.

“Hurry up,” Braden hisses. “There are more guards around.”

Hushing our babies, we follow him to the back entrance.

“They’re gone!” A guard yells in the distance. “Sound the alarm.”

“Fuck,” I mumble.

“Just move,” Braden hisses, and we start running. Even Anton, despite his age, sprints through the hall like a fucking madman.

Behind us, all hell breaks loose as guards run around looking for us. We finally reach a door, and Braden pushes it open.

“Cover your babies,” Braden shouts over the howling wind. “This will be dusty.”

“No, shit,” Axel mutters, tucking Isaac underneath his shirt.

“Good luck,” Anton shouts as he covers his face with his cloak and runs in the opposite direction.

Dirt and dust slam into my mouth and nose as we push against the wind. I can barely see my hand in front of my face, but Braden pushes us forward. We crash through the trees and run towards my SUV.

And there, standing in front of it, is Elara holding Stella. A heavy wave of relief pummels me.

“Get in!” she yells.

“Oh no, you don’t,” a guard appears out of nowhere and steps in front of us.
