The moment Pushpasura’s foot struck the ancient black pillar...

The world changed.

Not gradually.

Instantly.

RUMBLE...

The entire forest shook.

Trees swayed violently.

Mountains in the distance trembled.

Birds burst into the sky in frightened flocks before abruptly falling silent once more.

"...."

"...."

"...."

Pushpasura instinctively looked upward.

His eyes narrowed.

"...What?"

The sun still blazed high in the heavens.

It had not set.

Yet...

Darkness began spreading across the forest.

Not across the entire world.

Only around him.

The shadows expanded outward in a perfect circle.

A hundred meters.

Then five hundred.

Then a full kilometer.

It continued growing until a colossal dome of darkness enclosed the entire region.

The sunlight remained visible beyond its edge.

But within the dome...

Day had become night.

The sudden silence became suffocating.

Even the wind refused to blow.

Pushpasura slowly turned back toward the black pillar.

A faint crimson glow appeared upon its surface.

Then another.

Ancient symbols, carved so deeply into the stone that even time had failed to erase them, awakened one after another.

The forgotten script pulsed with blood-red radiance.

Each symbol illuminated in sequence.

As though something long sealed within the pillar had finally answered its call.

Pushpasura frowned.

"...A seal?"

The crimson light intensified.

The inscriptions began vibrating.

The air itself grew impossibly heavy.

Then...

A single crack appeared.

Crack...

Another followed.

Then another.

Fine fractures spread across the entire pillar like veins racing through stone.

Pushpasura unconsciously took a step backward.

For reasons he could not explain...

Every instinct within him warned him not to remain where he stood.

The pillar continued breaking apart.

The crimson light pouring from within became almost impossible to look at.

Finally...

BOOOOOOOOOM!!

The pillar exploded.

Not with flames. Not with divine light.

But with an overwhelming wave of compressed air.

A colossal sonic boom erupted in every direction.

The shockwave tore through the forest, flattening everything in its path.

Ancient trees bent until they nearly touched the ground.

Loose stones were hurled through the air like leaves caught in a hurricane.

Pushpasura instinctively crossed both arms before his face.

The violent wind howled around him.

For several long moments...

He could see nothing.

Only darkness. Only dust.

Only the deafening roar of the exploding seal.

Gradually...

The storm subsided.

The dust began settling.

Pushpasura slowly lowered his arms.

His crimson eyes opened.

"...."

The broken fragments of the black pillar lay scattered across the clearing.

At its center... Someone stood.

No... Something.

A solitary figure cloaked in darkness.

Its features were impossible to distinguish.

Only a silhouette remained.

Pitch black.

As though the darkness surrounding the forest had gathered together and taken the shape of a man.

Yet within that shadow...

A single pair of silver eyes slowly opened.

They shone with an ancient brilliance that pierced through the darkness itself.

Those eyes...

Were already fixed upon Pushpasura.

Without blinking. Without emotion.

Simply... Watching.

For the first time since awakening from his endless slumber...

Pushpasura felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand upright.

The arrogant smile that had remained upon his face ever since his return disappeared completely.

The mysterious figure neither moved...

Nor spoke.

It simply stood amidst the shattered remains of the ancient seal.

Its silver eyes locked onto the Rakshasa King with a gaze so deep that even Pushpasura, who had once challenged the heavens themselves, found himself unable to look away.

The silver eyes continued staring at Pushpasura.

Unmoving. Unblinking.

The darkness surrounding the mysterious figure swayed gently, as though it were alive.

Neither side spoke.

The silence between them grew heavier with every passing heartbeat.

"...."

"...."

"...."

Finally...

Pushpasura narrowed his crimson eyes.

"...Who are you?"

His voice echoed across the darkened forest.

The shadow offered no reply.

It simply continued looking at him.

Several moments passed.

Only after the silence had stretched unbearably long did the mysterious figure finally speak.

Its voice was calm. Almost bored.

As though the entire situation were an inconvenience.

"So..."

"You are the one responsible."

Pushpasura frowned hearing the tone.

"...Responsible for what?"

The shadow tilted its head slightly.

"I was peacefully minding my own business."

"I had no interest in you."

"No interest in your army."

"No interest in your little return to Bhuloka."

Another pause.

Then...

"You, however..."

"...decided it was a brilliant idea..."

"...to kick me."

The last two words carried an unmistakable hint of annoyance.

Pushpasura’s expression darkened.

"...."

The shadow continued.

"It appears..."

"...you have completely lost your will to live."

A faint sigh escaped the figure.

"Very well. I shall educate you."

"I’ll break that leg ...into eight segments."

"Perhaps then... you’ll learn the value of discipline."

Pushpasura’s eyes flashed with killing intent.

"No one speaks to me in that manner!"

The shadow ignored him entirely.

Instead...

It casually raised one hand.

The gesture was effortless.

As though summoning a weapon was something done out of pure habit.

Seconds passed. Nothing happened.

The shadow remained perfectly still.

It slowly looked at its own empty hand.

"..."

Silence.

"...."

"...."

Then...

It slowly lifted its head toward the heavens.

As though someone beyond mortal sight had just spoken.

The surrounding darkness became strangely quiet.

Pushpasura watched in confusion.

"...What are you looking at?"

The shadow never answered.

It simply remained staring into the sky.

For several moments...

It appeared to be silently listening.

Then...

A disappointed sigh escaped it.

"...Really?"

Another pause.

"...Fine."

The figure lowered its hand.

Its silver eyes returned to Pushpasura for one final moment.

"...Your luck today ...is remarkably good."

Before Pushpasura could react...

The shadow’s body dissolved into wisps of black smoke.

The darkness dispersed with the wind.

Within moments...

Nothing remained.

The dome of darkness faded.

Sunlight poured back into the clearing.

The oppressive silence disappeared.

The forest slowly returned to normal.

Pushpasura stood alone amidst the shattered remains of the ancient pillar.

He looked left. Then right.

His brows furrowed.

"...What... just happened?"

There had been no battle.

No exchange of names. No explanation.

The mysterious figure had simply appeared...

Threatened to break his leg into eight pieces...

Then vanished after apparently holding a conversation with someone that Pushpasura could neither hear nor see.

The Rakshasa King clicked his tongue in irritation.

-Tch!

"...A madman."

He dismissed the encounter and turned away.

After all...

Whoever that strange being had been...

They had left.

There was nothing more to think about.

Unaware...

Pushpasura walked back toward his waiting legion.

Completely ignorant of the fact that his reckless arrogance had just sown the first seed of his own destruction.

Some meetings did not end with a battle.

Some ended with a promise.

And the shadow had every intention of collecting the debt when the time was right.

Meanwhile...

Not far from the shattered clearing...

Hidden beyond a curtain of ancient trees...

The very sage whom Pushpasura had intended to strike remained exactly where he had been all along.

He had never disappeared.

He had never fled.

He had simply been sitting beneath another ancient tree, untouched by the chaos that had unfolded only a short distance away.

His saffron robes fluttered gently in the evening breeze.

One hand continued supporting his head as he rested comfortably against the tree trunk.

His eyes remained closed.

His breathing was slow.

Peaceful.

As though nothing extraordinary had occurred.

In the distance...

Pushpasura could be seen returning toward his waiting Rakshasa legion, still grumbling to himself about the strange encounter.

The sage slowly opened his eyes.

They were calm.

Deep.

Filled with a wisdom accumulated over countless years.

Watching the Rakshasa King’s retreating figure, a gentle smile appeared upon his lips.

He slowly shook his head.

A quiet chuckle escaped him.

"He has not changed..."

His voice was serene.

Soft.

Yet every word seemed to blend harmoniously with the forest itself.

The breeze that carried his voice became strangely gentle.

The leaves rustled in quiet rhythm.

The branches swayed peacefully.

Several colorful birds that had been singing among the trees suddenly fell silent.

One after another...

They fluttered down onto nearby branches.

Not out of fear.

But as though they wished to listen.

Tiny squirrels paused halfway up tree trunks.

A pair of deer quietly emerged from the undergrowth.

Even butterflies drifted lazily toward the ancient tree where the sage rested.

The entire forest seemed soothed merely by the sound of his voice.

The sage looked toward the disappearing silhouette of Pushpasura.

His smile widened ever so slightly.

"...Still as hot-blooded as ever."

He let out another quiet laugh.

"So many years have passed... yet your temper remains exactly the same."

There was no hatred in his words.

No anger.

Only the affectionate exasperation of someone looking upon an old acquaintance who had stubbornly refused to mature despite the passage of ages.

The birds chirped softly in response.

One tiny bird hopped closer until it perched comfortably upon the sage’s shoulder.

The sage gently stroked its feathers with a single finger.

"It seems... he has learned nothing during his long sleep."

The little bird tilted its head before chirping once more.

The sage smiled.

"I know."

"So do I."

He slowly leaned back against the tree once again.

Closing his eyes.

His lips resumed their gentle chant.

"Om..."

The sacred syllable flowed through the forest once more.

Instantly...

The surrounding life responded.

Flowers that had begun wilting from Pushpasura’s earlier attempt to drain the land slowly straightened.

Leaves regained their vibrant green.

The forest itself seemed to breathe a quiet sigh of relief.

As though simply hearing the sage’s voice reminded the land that it was safe once more.

The birds happily resumed their songs.

The deer peacefully lowered their heads to graze.

The breeze carried the sacred chant deeper into the woods.

"Om..."

The forest answered with silence.

A silence not born of fear.

But of perfect peace.

The sacred chant gradually faded into silence.

"Om..."

The birds remained perched upon the surrounding branches.

None of them flew away.

Instead...

They quietly watched the serene sage resting beneath the ancient tree.

A gentle smile still lingered upon his face.

His gaze remained fixed upon the distant figure of Pushpasura, who was steadily returning toward his waiting Rakshasa legion.

Thousands of demons still stood exactly where their king had ordered them to remain.

Not one had dared disobey him.

Watching them from afar, the sage let out one final quiet chuckle.

"...Some things... never change."

The wind softly stirred his saffron robes.

Then...

A warm golden radiance slowly began to emerge from within his body.

At first it resembled the glow of the morning sun.

Gentle. Comforting.

Then the light steadily intensified.

The birds did not flee.

Instead, they lowered their tiny heads respectfully.

The deer knelt instinctively.

Even the ancient trees seemed to bow ever so slightly as though paying homage to someone far greater than a wandering ascetic.

The saffron robes dissolved into countless particles of golden light.

The humble appearance of the sage gradually disappeared.

In its place...

A magnificent divine form emerged.

Four powerful arms.

A complexion resembling rain-filled clouds.

Golden silk garments adorned with celestial ornaments.

The radiant Kaustubha jewel shone upon His chest.

In one hand rested the Sudarshana Chakra.

In another, the Panchajanya conch.

The Kaumodaki mace and the Padma completed His divine form.

It was none other than...

Lord Vishnu.

The Preserver of the Universe.

His calm lotus-like eyes remained fixed upon Pushpasura’s retreating back.

The Rakshasa King never once turned around.

Never once realized...

That the insignificant sage he had dismissed...

Had been the Supreme Lord Himself.

Lord Vishnu smiled faintly.

There was neither anger nor disappointment in His expression.

Only quiet understanding.

"He still walks the same path..."

He murmured softly.

"Consumed by arrogance... unable to see what stands before him."

His gaze drifted toward the distant horizon where Malikavana Village lay.

"And the one destined to oppose him... is already preparing."

For a brief moment...

The Lord simply stood amidst the peaceful forest.

The breeze carried the fragrance of countless flowers through the air.

Then...

His divine form slowly dissolved into streams of golden light.

The radiance rose gently toward the heavens like countless tiny stars returning to the sky.

Within moments...

Nothing remained.

Only the quiet forest.

And the place where Lord Vishnu had stood.

At that very spot...

Tiny green shoots emerged from the earth.

They grew with impossible speed.

Within seconds...

Beautiful flowers bloomed across the ground.

Jasmine.

Parijata blossoms.

Their sweet fragrance spread throughout the clearing.

The birds chirped joyfully.

Butterflies gathered around the newly bloomed flowers.

The forest itself seemed brighter than before.

As though merely being touched by the Lord’s presence had become a blessing upon the land.

A gentle breeze carried away the last traces of golden light.

The clearing once again became peaceful.

No evidence remained that the Supreme Preserver had ever stood there.

Except...

For the beautiful flowers that continued blooming where His divine feet had rested.
