Chapter 1064: Regret

Chapter 1064

Thud—! Thud—! Thud—! Stab—! Screech—!

Thalos came to a skidding halt as he dug his greatsword into the ground after the kick delivered to him by Orion.

Before he could even twitch, the beast warrior had already vanished and reappeared before him with a descending heel kick that rushed downward with brutal speed.

Kira blinked forward, and with the speed of the kick, she wasn’t able to take Thalos away in time, hence she swiftly dug her wings into the ground, making sure they covered her front and the gargoyle behind her.

THUNK! BOOOOM!

The kick slammed into the Phoenix’s wings with crushing force, such that the floor caved in instantaneously.

The Phoenix’s body trembled violently as the force of the strike sent her burrowing into the ground with thunderous momentum, tearing open a thirty-meter-deep hollow.

Due to her sacrifice, Thalos was able to reposition himself upon seeing Orion twitch for a few seconds due to the electrical discharge from the lightning phoenix’s wings.

Darting forward with a pinkish liquid sliding down the gargoyle’s lips, he swung his sword from below, bashing it into Orion’s face with his entire strength.

The ground ruptured immediately as the Zodiac was lifted off his feet and hurled into the distance, bouncing across the terrain like a ragdoll.

Digging his pincer-like claws into the ground, he forcefully halted just in time as he caught sight of Fenrir falling from the sky like a thunderbolt.

Clenching his jaws tightly, visual ki blazed around his whole body, propelling the man to the side in time as Fenrir crashed into the earth, sending dust billowing into the air.

Sparks of lightning were sent flying in all directions.

Springing to his feet, Orion lashed forward with his pincer-claws.

CLANG!

Thalos was there to intercept with his greatsword.

Parrying the blow away, Noir bolted forward with uncanny speed.

His form increased in size as he leaped up and drove his four paws into the man’s face, sending him lurching backward.

Kira burst out of the crater she had been slammed into.

A trail of blue sparks could be seen falling down her wings as if it were blood, but she didn’t mind.

A bright glow appeared at the back of her throat as a lightning beam tore forward with blazing speed.

Everybody leaped away in time as the beam smashed into Orion’s face with crushing force.

The scales on his face fell away like those of a fish.

His body was about to be blasted away when a pair of Ki scythes appeared in his grasp.

He dug them into the ground, stopping himself from flying back.

Stretching the ki chains taut, Orion launched forward instantly, cutting through the air like a blur, and within a second, his feet drove straight into the lightning phoenix.

Sparks of electricity flew outward fiercely, obliterating the ground intensively, followed by a deafening bang that split the air as Kira was sent blasting away.

In the same breath, Orion spun around and hammered his leg into Fenrir, who had just darted into place to attack.

The kick slammed into the mage’s neck with crushing force, such that blood forcefully burst out of his mouth.

His whole body was roughly smashed into the ground, which gave way under his frame.

The glow around his body and eyes dimmed back down and disappeared immediately as he lost consciousness.

Blood dribbled from his mouth while the sky overhead cleared immediately.

It was left to only Thalos and Noir.

Even still, the duo remained unfazed as they watched the beast warrior stand upright.

He stood before an unconscious Fenrir, who lay down unmoving.

If it wasn’t for the faint rise and fall of his back, he would have been termed as dead.

"Tch. Three musketeers of war indeed. You both never stood a chance... you both never deserved to share that name with me," Orion spat as he stared at Fenrir’s body in disdain.

"... Most especially him."

Thalos didn’t rush to reply as he shifted into a stance with his greatsword pointed forward, while Noir tensed beside him.

"The most unworthy one is you. You definitely didn’t deserve the title nor the love and trust Sir Armin placed on you. You bit the hand that fed you."

Orion waved his pincer in the air in boredom.

"Oh please, spare me. I was only doing my job entrusted to me by the Devil. Same way you are working for Grey, I worked for the leader and hence that mage needed to die."

Thalos shook his head.

"You are mistaken. I’m not working for Grey. I pledged my loyalty to him. I’m his blade that will be used to take down all Otherworlders."

"Still don’t see how that’s different from what I said, slave."

"Says the one working for someone. You have no right to call anybody a slave," Noir barked in Orion’s mind.

Thalos pointed his greatsword forward.

"I just have one question before we continue."

Orion lifted a brow, then rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "I suppose I can grant your last wish."

"How did you become a beast hybrid?"

"..."

Orion smirked, then turned his gaze in a certain direction.

Thalos followed the trajectory of his sight to spot Zodiac One still sitting on the throne, unmoving.

His posture signaled that he was bored.

"Zodiac One. The king of all beasts and the most dangerous and powerful Zodiac yet. You see, between him and the leader, I don’t even know who’s stronger. He did this to me. He made me this powerful so that I will be able to withstand all threats no matter what."

Orion paused for a second in deep thought.

"... Over there, the leader will finish Grey off; and over here, the Zodiacs will—"

As he turned around to look for the other Zodiacs, he couldn’t see them fighting anymore.

’Huh?’

Scanning extensively, he spotted their dead bodies on the ground while those they had been fighting were still alive and actively weeding out the Otherworlders at a rapid pace.

"Lucien lost too? Wasn’t he supposed to be Zodiac Two while I’m number three? How did he lo—"

"He lost the same way and to the same person he lost to."

A voice could be heard and instinctively, Orion leaped backward just in time as Julius rose from the shadows.

Thalos and Noir lifted their brows in confusion when shadows rippled beneath both their feet, including beneath the body of Kira.

"You can all leave."

They were all yanked into the shadows before they could even protest, vanishing away while leaving the Emperor and Orion behind.

"Who are you?" Orion frowned as he shifted into a stance.

"..."

"I can feel how powerful you are, which is why I won’t waste time. I know that I will lose my life after this, but at least a huge obstacle will be taken down. My regret is that," Julius uttered as he looked in Zodiac One’s direction,

"I won’t be able to help fight the biggest threat here. But I will leave it to the hands of the new generation. I just hope they can overcome this."

"Huh?" Orion shook his head, annoyed. ’Why do I even bother?’

He blurred forward.

His movement caused Julius to snap his head forward and, in response, the ruler’s hands slammed against each other in a loud clap.

"Magus Dominion; Sub-Zero."

BOOOOM!

The world turned pale blue for Orion.
