Chapter 255: Ch 255: An Unfortunate Researcher

Weiss used her sword to pick up the bag and then used the ancient force to open it. There was no locking mechanism stopping her, so she was able to open it quite easily.

Inside, she found the skull of a beast. Weiss had studied animal skeletal structure quite a bit so she was knowledgeable in this field. But even with her knowledge she was unable to guess about the exact origin of this skull.

There were so many bizzare beasts, monsters and even mutations in this world that Weiss was not surprised that this skull was unknown to her. But still, it was definitely a very interesting research subject for her.

But obviously this unknown skull was not the valuable thing that these knight apprentices were fighting for. Instead their target was the thing which was stored in the middle of the skull.

This thing was a black orb of unknown origin. Weiss immediately send some of her ancient force into it instead of directly touching it.

As soon as the ancient force reached the orb, the black orb started to glow red. Other than that, nothing changed and even with her senses, Weiss was unable to sense any kind of change.

From this result, she guessed that the small amount of ancient force that she had used was not enough for the orb to take effect.

But Weiss did not start to give the mysterious orb more energy. She needed to do some research and investigate it a little bit before she would do anything dangerous with it.

So she closed the bag once more and put it in her spatial storage ring. Then Weiss started to search the fallen men and the lady.

This was a remote alley and the people around the area were very cautious. So they had zero interest in even witnessing a fierce battle between powerful people in order to not be caught up in it.

So even after the battle was over, no one came to check on the situation with the mindset of letting the sleeping dog lie. Which was a good thing for Weiss and she was able to take her time in searching all the dead bodies.

These people had a decent sum of money for a commoner but adding everything, it was not even five gold coins. So Weiss had absolutely no interest in it.

The weapons they were using were also not of a very good quality. So Weiss was not interested in them too and did not collect any of them as loots.

But she was interested in one thing which was a letter. Weiss found it with the lady who was killed. It was from viscount Masak of this nation and he was supposed to be employing this lady and her two partners.

His order for them was to retrieve this bag. There was no mention of the things which were inside the bag. But from this letter, Weiss at least got to learn where this bag had came from.

And the source was quite interesting and unexpected. This bag was discovered in the same hidden room where a lot of books were also found. Weiss had just learnt about it some time ago in the tavern.

It looked like even though the owner of this mansion was having trouble selling the books but not the other items found there. This was now looking to be more interesting than she had originally thought.

Weiss was planning to visit this mansion owner the next day but after learning this, she decided that it would be better to meet him as soon as possible.

So even though it was quite late in the night, she still went toward where this mansion was located.

Frank was feeling terrible at this moment and his belly was aching. He was the second son of a large merchant and he himself was a researcher of ancient things.

After the death of his father, according to the law of this nation, he had gotten a part of his massive wealth as he had not made any will.

With this fortune, there was no need for Frank to worry about food and such. So he completely focused on his research and nothing else.

Then one day he had learned about an old mansion that was supposed to have ancient relics. As soon as he had heard this rumours, he had to check it out.

After seeing the actual building, with his knowledge, he judged this place to be considerably old. So seeing that the chance of finding ancient relic here was not low, he ended up buying this whole thing while introducing himself as a rich merchant with a hobby of buying mysterious properties.

After this, he had started his investigation and he was immediately successful in discovering a never before seen hidden room. In this room, he found a lot of books written in an unknown language and quite a few bizzare items, which were his main targets.

So to earn some extra fund, he had tried to sell the books. He was not really super interested in them as those books were unreadable for him.

But this had turned out to be a mistakes. Because of this decision of his, many people came to know of this discovery. And instead of taking any interest in his books, all of them instead shifted their greedy eyes to his valuable items.

After this, several nobles and their henchmen had continuously harassed him. Without being able to endure all of this, he had even sold a few of the items to these terrible people. But even that was not enough to please them. They wanted everything that he had.

And just some time ago, two such people had even given him a beating after taking one of the most interesting looking items away. Just thinking about it was making his blood to boil.

As Frank was treating his wound and was wishing death to those people, he heard a knock on the door. Immediately he jumped up in fear and started to look for a place to hide.

The current time was quite late at the night. Only those evil pieces of shits could come at this hour.

But as he was searching for a place to hide, the door was knocked once more very gently.

Those brutes did not have even a single gentle bone in them so Frank was sure now that it was not them. So he became curious about who had came at this late hour.

As his curiosity became greater and greater, he took a deep breath and went to open the door. And soon as he did that, the figure of the most beautiful goddess in the world appeared before him.
