Chapter 1755: Chapter 1299: Next Stop, Heaven (Part 3)
She looked around: "Are you willing to go on an adventure with me?"
"Of course!" Diya stood up quickly, her hair transformed into distinct vibrant colors, and said happily, "You are our leader!"
"Technically, when Ash isn’t around, Sword Maiden is our leader," Weiser laughed. "This might be the most miraculous reason for promotion — we’ve come to Heaven just to find one person."
Sonia glanced at Vishi, who snorted, propping her chin as she said leisurely, "I was right, wasn’t I? People like us are always in adventure when we’re not being selfish."
Felix asked, "Then Vishi, you..."
"Let me be clear, I’m here for Ash’s Supreme Holy Grail." Vishi pouted. "I’m different from her; even when I’m selfish, I’m adventurous."
"Never mind the Supreme Holy Grail, even Ash will be ours!" Freyja excitedly stood up on the bed, "Alright, let’s charge through Heaven together!"
"Stop." Siflin pulled her down. "Even if we do have to break through Heaven, what’s it got to do with you, a mere Legendary Mage?"
"Huh?" Freyja was stunned, "I-I can help."
"In a Divine Lord-level war, the power of a Legendary Mage is negligible. The gap between two realms is too vast; a Divine Lord dealing with you is countless times easier than you dealing with a Golden Mage." Dedarose also said, "The task to rescue Ash can only be entrusted to Sonia and her team."
"Miss Freyja, let’s wait for good news on earth." Felix added.
"But, but," Freyja was almost to the point of tears, "I was the one who discovered Ash first! I was the one who first said we should rescue Ash and formed this team, how can you leave me out?"
Siflin held her hands, "Freyja..."
"I promise I’ll be good and won’t be a burden. Take me with you!" Freyja looked at Sonia with teary eyes, "Please take me, don’t leave me behind. I want to see Ash too..."
Sonia sat on the bed, looking at the pitiful Meiwa, and couldn’t help but laugh. She reached out and hugged her, whispering in her ear:
"It’s wonderful that you love Ash."
"Huh?"
"You’re the person who loves Ash the most in this world," Sonia said. "I’m not talking about now; even before you lost your memory, you must’ve loved him the most. Because of your deep affection, we realized Ash had quietly left us, almost letting that vile fatty succeed."
"So, will you take me?" Freyja asked pitifully.
"No." Sonia shook her head. "But I promise, I will bring him back to see you."
Freyja lowered her head in disappointment, then after a moment asked, "Then, when the time comes, can I join you? I want to wear a wedding dress too."
"Eh? Why do you think that?"
"Sword Maiden, didn’t you say I’m the one who loves Ash the most?"
"Yes, but love is a matter of mutual willingness," Sonia blinked. "You’re the one who loves him the most, but the one he loves most is me. If he values me more than you, there’s nothing I can do because love doesn’t distinguish right from wrong."
Freyja’s eyes filled with tears, saying aggrievedly, "How could this be..."
"When Ash returns, you can try to win him from me," Sonia whispered in Freyja’s ear. "But as someone I recognize as a rival, I will give my all, and won’t let you or anyone else take his love away."
Freyja huffed, "Ash is everyone’s, I won’t let you succeed!"
"I look forward to it." Sonia smiled, gently touched Meiwa’s nose, then walked to the window. She glanced at the bright sky and subconsciously pulled out a pack of cigarettes.
When Sonia tapped out the last cigarette, she looked at it between her fingers, chuckled at some unspoken thought, and without care for the environment discarded both the cigarette and the box out the window.
"Let’s go." The Red-haired Swordswoman looked at the Witch, Silver Lamp, Demon, "It’s time to make the final preparations, then we embark."
"Next stop, Heaven."
