Chapter 468: Chapter 206: Purple Light (4)
Now that she was here, it was clear her mind was made up.
After a long silence, Chu Jinyun finally let out a soft sigh.
She stood and walked to Nie Shanshan, gently tucking away a nonexistent stray hair from her temple.
"Have you thought it through?"
Chu Jinyun said softly, "Life in the Outer Sect of the Celestial Treasure Upper Sect isn’t easy. It will be far more difficult than your time here at the Gui Water Institute."
The rims of Nie Shanshan’s eyes turned slightly red, but she stubbornly held back her tears and nodded firmly. "I have thought it through."
Chu Jinyun nodded slowly.
"Very well."
Those two words held a world of meaning.
She took Nie Shanshan’s cool hand and patted it gently. "Since you’ve made your decision, then see it through. A disciple of my Gui Water Institute will do well anywhere. Remember, no matter what hardships you face out there, your master and the Gui Water Institute will always have your back."
"If things become impossible... just come home. Your master will always leave a light on for you."
At these words, Nie Shanshan ducked her head, her shoulders trembling slightly. When she looked up again, her eyes were brimming with unshed tears, yet they shone with a startling brightness.
"I... thank you, Master!" she said, her voice choked with emotion as she bowed deeply.
Chu Jinyun caught her, pulling her into a gentle embrace. Nothing more needed to be said.
The candlelight cast the shadows of the master and disciple on the wall, warm and serene.

Chen Qing returned to his room and shut the door, closing off the clamor from outside.
He sat down at the table but didn’t pour himself any water. His mind kept replaying the sudden, dramatic event that had occurred in a flash on the Eighth Layer of the Celestial Treasure Tower.
That mysterious purple light, erupting from the deepest part of the tower’s apex, had shot straight into his spiritual sea through the point between his brows. The impact at that moment had been so great it had nearly destabilized his Divine Soul.
’This is no ordinary matter...’
Chen Qing muttered to himself, his brows tightly furrowed.
He hesitated no longer. Rising, he walked to his bed, sat down cross-legged, and attempted to enter a state of deep Meditation to carefully inspect his own body.
It was only then that Chen Qing discovered his Gui Water True Qi had, without him realizing, been completely refined. Within his Dantian Sea of Qi, the Three True Astrals—Cyan Wood, Kun Earth, and Gui Water—were now merging.
The Three True Astrals fused into one, creating a single True Astral of incredibly domineering power and a staggering aura.
Chen Qing completely calmed his Heart and Spirit, clearing his mind of all distracting thoughts. He expanded his perception beyond his qi, blood, and True Astral, reaching instead toward the profound, unseen place where consciousness is born—
HUM!
It was as if he had pushed open an invisible door he never knew existed. His perspective suddenly broadened!
Here there was no distinction of up, down, left, or right, only the most primordial consciousness flowing slowly like a thin mist.
’This is...’
Chen Qing’s Heart and Spirit were so shaken he could barely maintain his state of introspection.
He saw it!
A faint stream of purple light hovered there silently.
An unbelievable thought surfaced in his mind.
’The Sea of Will?! Could this be the legendary Sea of Will mentioned in the ancient texts? The one that can only be sensed and opened after reaching the True Essence Realm, when one’s spiritual will undergoes a qualitative transformation through True Essence Refining?!’
Only cultivators in the True Essence Realm could temper a Martial Dao Will and begin to touch upon the supreme mysteries of the Spiritual Realm!
The Sea of Will was the source and manifestation of all Spiritual Power! It was the very foundation that allowed experts of the True Essence Realm to develop Divine Sense and perceive the most minute details!
And yet, he was clearly only in the Astral Force Realm. Although his spiritual will had been honed to be far more resilient than others at his level, it was nowhere near strong enough to open the Sea of Will on its own!
’It’s because of that purple light!’
Chen Qing instantly understood. ’That mysterious purple light from the tower... it forced this gateway open for me and took root here!’
His initial surprise gave way to deep contemplation and a hint of worry.
’Opening the Sea of Will ahead of schedule will undoubtedly elevate my Perception Power and even my control over my Cultivation Technique to a whole new level. I’ll be much sharper when facing danger... This is a heaven-sent opportunity!’
’But... what exactly is this purple light? Now that it’s taken root in my Sea of Will, is it a blessing or a curse? Will it affect my future breakthrough to the True Essence Realm?’
Countless questions surfaced in his mind, but he had no one to answer them.
The first person he thought of was the unfathomable Li Baichuan. If Master Li were here, he might be able to make sense of this.
’Unfortunately, Master Li is far away in Yunlin Prefecture...’
Chen Qing sighed to himself, then composed his thoughts. ’This matter concerns my very foundation. I absolutely cannot reveal even a hint of it to outsiders. The Scripture Repository of the Celestial Treasure Upper Sect is as vast as an ocean; perhaps there are records of this within. I’ll have to find an opportunity to investigate it later.’
With his course of action decided, Chen Qing temporarily pushed aside his doubts.
Regardless, having a Sea of Will ahead of time—and one apparently obtained through highly unusual means—seemed, for now, to have far more benefits than drawbacks.
