Chapter 2411: Chapter 2410: The King and Queen Arrive

As she spoke, her voice choked up and she couldn’t utter another word, involuntarily grasping Alvin’s hand and sobbing like a lost child, helpless.

But Alvin, who she originally hoped to comfort, still lay there silently, ignoring her words.

Nangong Lin even began to imagine that all of this was fake, a play written and directed by Alvin to tease her, and in the next moment, he would wake up, gently kiss away her tears, and say to her, "Don’t cry, I’m just teasing you, I’m perfectly fine."

Unfortunately, all of this was merely her fantasy. She continued to sit there, watching Alvin.

From afternoon to evening, during which Li Hui came several times, standing at the window looking at her, her heart aching as tears constantly streamed down, longing to say something but ultimately deciding not to disturb her.

She didn’t know how long it had been before Nangong Lin finally emerged from her solitary silence.

Standing up, she looked at Alvin and murmured to herself, "It seems quite late, it’s time to sleep. I’ll get some water to wash you up."

She went to find the doctor, who gave her special disinfected water for washing Alvin’s face and hands.

She wrung out the towel and gently wiped Alvin’s face, tracing his deep features.

Every finger and toe was also meticulously cleaned by Alvin, for the next twenty-four hours, she didn’t plan to close her eyes; she would keep watching him.

After everything was cleaned, Nangong Lin sat back on the stool, holding Alvin’s hand against her face, constantly talking to him, recounting amusing stories from her childhood, even pulling out her phone to read gossip posts to him.

Alvin showed no reactions from start to finish, deepening the despair in Nangong Lin’s heart bit by bit.

Twenty-four hours may not be that long, but for Nangong Lin, every minute and every second was torment; she kept talking to Alvin non-stop, talking incessantly to make time pass a little faster.

The Queen and the King finally arrived, and upon seeing Alvin lying lifelessly on the bed, their emotions nearly broke down.

"My son, my son!" The Queen clutched the isolation window in agony, repeatedly asking, "Why did this happen, why did this happen?"

John stood beside them, sweating all over, trembling as he took a long time to fully tell the Queen and King what had happened.

The Queen was heartbroken beyond measure.

The King was adamant about taking Alvin away immediately, leaving no room for negotiation.

Accompanying them were specialist doctors from the Royal Family of B Country, who first assessed Alvin’s condition and then had a brief interaction with the Empire’s doctors; eventually, they informed the King that with Alvin’s current condition, he couldn’t be moved. At least, they would have to wait another twenty-four hours before taking him away.

The King immediately said, "Then we’ll leave in twenty-four hours; we’ll wait here."

Li Hui and Nangong Tiancheng were very troubled; they were at a loss for words to say to the King and Queen in such a situation.

Words of comfort seemed so weak; words of self-blame would seem to place responsibility on Nangong Lin, wouldn’t they?

But this couldn’t possibly be Nangong Lin’s responsibility.

Being parents themselves, they understood that sentiment well, which left them feeling very conflicted and unsure of what to say. They couldn’t very well suggest that if Alvin woke up, Nangong Lin should marry him, could they?

What if, what if he never wakes up?

Nangong Lin, who was inside, also saw the King and Queen arrive, and her heart felt even heavier, yet she still had to face it.
