Chapter 2374: Chapter 2373: This Kiss Scene Is Inappropriate!
Alvin decisively refused, "Mom, please don’t create trouble. You’re scaring your daughter-in-law."
The Queen would probably suggest something like ’Why not marry Alvin,’ and he was quite worried that his mom’s straightforwardness would frighten Nangong Lin.
Upon hearing this, the Queen was displeased, "What are you saying, child? Wait, what did you just say? My daughter-in-law! My daughter-in-law! You little brat, are you dating? Did you win Xiaolin over?"
Because if it wasn’t official, Alvin would never use the term "daughter-in-law."
"Yes." Alvin replied with a grunt.
The Queen was instantly in tears, Emma, it feels like my son has finally grown up!
Finally, he’s found a girlfriend!
The Queen covered her mouth in shock. Somewhat excited, as if she was afraid of disturbing them, she hurriedly said, "Son, you have to work hard! You must marry Xiaolin and make her the princess of our B Country. Mommy is waiting for you at home!"
Another sentence she held back was if you don’t bring her home, don’t come back yourself.
"Got it." Alvin said with a broad smile, "Don’t worry!"
With Alvin’s assurance, the Queen was totally reassured.
After hanging up, the Queen kept thinking she needed to do something!
......
Finally, Alvin’s scene was about to start. The setting was in the laboratory where Zheng Huayu was assembling him.
The head and feet had been installed, only one arm was left.
It was at this moment Nangong Lin came looking for Zheng Huayu, leading to her first encounter with Alvin.
The female protagonist, upon meeting the robot for the first time, is very curious about it and very much admires her scientist boyfriend; so they kiss in the lab, right in front of the robot.
After reading the script handed to him by the director, Alvin’s face turned green. The previous script didn’t have any intimate scenes between the female lead and the scientist!
However, he knew scripts could change at any time. If anything was unreasonable, the director and screenwriter would meet to revise it.
But Alvin was totally against this revision, and immediately went to find the director with John, asking, "Director, wasn’t it said that there would be no intimate scenes between the female lead and the scientist, as the scientist was too busy to even care about her?"
"Theoretically, yes," the director replied, "but they are lovers after all. Before any relationship with the robot develops, the female lead is deeply in love with the scientist. Lovers kissing is very normal, and it also highlights the moral conflict later when she falls for the robot."
Alvin: "..."
"No way, I can’t agree to this scene," Alvin unhappily said to Director Liu, speaking his mind, "Nangong Lin and I are dating. You’re having her kiss Zheng Huayu in front of me. Director Liu, are you messing with me?"
"Nangong Lin is an actress, you need to respect her professional identity." Faced with Alvin’s words, Director Liu stood firm in his stance.
"Then use a body double." Alvin directly stated.
Nangong Lin also arrived at this moment, specifically for this script issue, as she was not very keen on taking kissing scenes.
But Director Liu wanted to use the two types of feelings for contrast. One is real, flesh and blood, but neglects his lover due to his dedication to science.
The other is a robot, cold, with thoughts and feelings that are human-assigned, but ultimately capable of being loved by a human.
This essentially expressed the central theme the film aimed to deliver: one shouldn’t overlook the people around them for the sake of their career, making this portrayal appropriate.
From the beginning, the female lead and the scientist can’t seem entirely detached, making audiences feel infidelity is inevitable would completely miss the point.
At least at the start, the female protagonist should be deeply in love with the scientist, so when she falls for the robot, there is internal struggle and hesitation, creating moral and ethical conflicts.
