Chapter 71: Chapter 71 Arlo and Ariel in Their Youth [2]
The Morris couple exchanged glances. Though they wished Scarlett could attend Virtue, since she was their biological daughter, the facade of fairness held them back slightly.
Ariel Morris’s expression remained unchanged, her smile sweet as ever, "Scenic Hill High School has great teaching quality too, I’ll just go there. Besides, I rarely mingle with the high society; I’m not familiar with their etiquette and social skills, afraid I’ll embarrass myself. Scarlett’s been going to socialite parties since she was young, she’s much more suited for the elitist atmosphere at Virtue."
In the end, the Morris couple decided that Scarlett would go to Virtue, and Ariel to Scenic Hill.
---
Ariel headed to Scenic Hill High School with her backpack, unsure of her classroom’s location. As she stood by the school gate, scanning her surroundings, she saw a group of boys busy at the school bulletin board. One particular boy really stood out.
He had jet-black tousled hair, and wore a plain white shirt. His aloof and indifferent demeanor was pure and otherworldly. His fair and graceful fingers were swiftly writing on the bulletin board. The fluid and elegant handwriting caught Ariel’s eye, and her impression of him grew even fonder.
Ariel hesitated for a moment, then headed towards the school bulletin board.
Amidst the teasing laughter of the boys, she asked him for directions to her classroom. From the teasing boys, she also learned that the cool and serene boy with understated features was named Arlo Seys.
Arlo Seys.
On her first day at Scenic Hill, from the moment they met, Ariel Morris remembered this senior deeply from just one glance.
Little did she know then, that "Arlo Seys," these three words, would mean a lifetime of unforgettable memories for her, from first meeting to final parting.
-----
Ariel considered their first encounter as merely an accidental crossing in life, never expecting to run into Arlo Seys again so soon.
The second meeting happened after school. Dusk was settling in as Ariel left the teaching building and crossed paths with Arlo Seys on the field, seemingly both were heading home.
On seeing this girl again, Arlo paused for a moment.
Ariel, however, beamed with joy, cheerfully greeting him, "Hi, senior, fancy meeting you again."
Arlo slightly frowned, responding coolly, "Yeah, quite the coincidence." Having seen her in the morning, now bumping into her after school, truly what are the odds! Arlo mused internally.
Ariel had no clue what he was thinking. Seeing his indifferent look and monotonous tone, she couldn’t help but unleash her sarcastic streak, "Senior, do you know why you don’t have a girlfriend? Because you’re too cold! Nowadays, warm-hearted guys are in demand, while icy cool guys are destined to remain bachelors. If you want to find a partner, smile more~~, boys who smile are more likeable."
"..." Why does this girl keep harping on about him not having a girlfriend? Arlo felt a headache coming on.
"Arlo Seys... I have something to tell you..." A female voice suddenly interrupted.
Both Ariel and Arlo turned to look, seeing a slightly plump girl standing three meters away, looking a bit unnatural with a slight blush on her cheeks.
The girl looked at Arlo, then shifted her gaze towards Ariel, her eyes bearing hostility. She approached, gazed deeply at Arlo, and softly said, "Arlo Seys, I... I like you."
"..." Ariel was surprised, biting her lower lip, staring at the girl.
This girl came specifically to slap her in the face?!
She had just claimed that Arlo was too cold to have a girlfriend, that no one would like an icy guy. And now this girl came right out and confessed to Arlo, wasn’t that a quicker slap in the face?!
Sister! Is this how you choose the perfect time to pull the rug from under someone?!
Ariel’s heart felt enormously exasperated.
