Chapter 277: Chapter 277 – Development - Part 3.
[Current location: Golem Dungeon.]
"Well then.... You have it." – said Porai as she and Thauma were holding a little meeting of their own in the [guest room], a room filled with several different furniture, both comfy ones and fancy looking ones, alongside several different tables.
"You are the one managing this territory, but I think it would be a good idea if I would somewhat be with you on this."
{"Thank you."} – replied Thauma.
"No problem.... I kind of also want to avoid any problems as well, so yeah...."
(Especially with Ariava. She may hold me responsible somewhat, if something fucked up happens.) – thought bit nervous Porai.
"Anyway, after months, the dungeon has finally produced enough number of golems, to be able to control the whole Mevon territory."
"With this, the Mevon territory is completely yours and the empire forces have official retreated, per the contract agreements."
{"Yes. I’ve talked with the leader of the forces that was lend to me in order to protect my territory."}
{"A vampire by the name Ludwig."}
{"Upon receiving my confirmation, he had announced that his forces will be pulled back, but they will be still in the nearby territories for few days."}
{"The detection golems had been finished and mass produced, placing every single one of them."}
{"The simple outposts are also being constructed and the forces had already been assigned to them."}
(It honestly took bit longer than I’ve expected.... But still, the Mevon territory is mine.) – thought Thauma.
"..."
"Well, then, we should start."
"First thing first."
"What the hell do you do now?"
"I mean, you still have the ’free’ period, before you are forced to start producing the golems for the empire."
"But obviously, you have also still other problems."
"For example, that city."
"You have no materials to make it."
"And that means you will have to make a deal with the empire in order to secure materials."
"But they will probably want more golems as payment."
"And there is also the security of your territory."
"You have ENOUGH golems to barely control the territory, but-"
{"Actually, I wanted to talk about this."}
{"I’m worried about my golems."}
"...Why?"
{"The destruction of the army."}
{"It took a large amount of time for me to produce these golems."}
{"There is a lot of the new generation golems in the mix, the superior versions, but still."}
{"It took me months."}
"..."
"Well.... Is there anything you can even do?"
"I mean, seriously now, is there anything you can do?"
"I get what you are talking about."
"You lack ability to make golems fast enough, right?"
"If anything, that was one of the things that I wanted to talk about as well."
"It took your dungeon months, to produce enough golems."
"And if somebody were to truly attack this place and leave some holes in your defenses, then you would be pretty much easy target."
"So, I’m proposing to post pone the construction of the city and instead focus on expanding the military force."
"However, there is now a new problem."
"Where to store the extra army of golems?"
"You can have out in the open, but it would be pretty good idea if they were kept somewhat hidden from the prying eyes."
"It would be understandable if you would have some army of golems outside of the golems, but if you would more of them, you would need to make something to hide them." – said Porai as she took out the map of the Mevon territory and spread it out on the table.
"Obviously creating some kind of massive building wouldn’t work."
"So, I propose different approach."
"A underground."
"But not the dungeon, but instead an underground storage room that will keep the golems hidden."
"We have the Maw city, but remodeling it for the purpose of creating the storage would be.... Well, bad, if we want to use that place in the future."
"There is also the problem regarding how big of the city you want, like how much of the territory you want to convert and transform it into the part of the city."
"And how exactly you want to expand your dungeon?"
"You need to plan everything mate."
"It won’t be easy."
"Where would be underground storage?"
"And there is also the case what do you do with this stuff?"
"I mean, your territory, as mentioned before, sucks."
"And the only two things it is good at, is the travel spot."
"And farms."
{"Ariava already said to me that I should forget about making this a merchant type territory, since it would be dangerous and there is also chance that the merchants could be either fake or may rip me off."}
"Yeah... I can see that... And you need some skills when it comes to doing business... And I don’t mean skills like special abilities, but skills as your own talent and knowledge."
"As for the farms.... Well... I don’t know if it will be possible?"
"I mean, golems can be made to do specific stuff, like building."
"You did that yourself."
{"But they need very detailed instructions on what to do."}
"Exactly! And the same goes with farming!"
"But with farming it will be definitely way harder, compare to construction."
"You COULD make some farm-oriented golems, but.... Well, it would be a lot of works, since you would have to make several different golems, with each one having their own set of special coding."
"Still, it could allow you to obtain some additional income though, beside selling the dungeon produced stuff and golems."
"And that is actually another point we need to talk about."
"Money."
"Since now you are a ’public’ being and since sooner or later you will be doing business, you need to have some money at hand."
"Which is a question, how are you going to secure it?"
{"Items production from the dungeon is one way, alongside the dungeon monsters that will be sold to the empire."}
{"However, I do wish I would have another way of obtaining money."}
"Yes. But again, your territory sucks, and the only real thing you can do here is farming."
"Do you do it or not? That is the question."
"And most important, the order."
"In which order are you doing it all?"
"Obviously, expanding the military force comes first."
"But what next?"
"Farming or the city?"
"Either task will require your main focus, so you will be definitely not be able to do both at the same time."
"From my perspective... It would be better if you focus on making the city first."
"Money is important and everything."
"But again, you need a solid base."
{"Actually, I’ve been thinking to do this way as well."}
{"However, I have a question."}
{"Many people still fear me, from what you and Ariava told me."}
{"Especially the neighboring territories."}
{"Should I do something about them?"}
"Em.... Well.... How do I say this?"
"..."
"I don’t think you can mate."
"Or more exactly, not right now or in long term."
"You did kind of went on the rampage, committing act of genocide and what not...."
"Do you really think they will want to be friends with the ’murder’ next door?"
"It is problematic, but for the best, it would be good if you were to keep your distance."
"And at the same time, make sure that there won’t be any accidents."
(And there are also the people of the Mevon territory that were kicked out.) – thought Porai.
(I’ve looked it up and realized that they were some people that moved in after the war has ended and the lands was undergoing the repairs.)
(Meaning that these people weren’t living there for more than a year.... But still, this was their home.)
(And they may end up being pissed off, considering the fact that Thauma massacred their families and friends, and instead of being punished, it is getting rewarded, while the people gets kicked out.)
(They may try spreading some nasty rumors... Which could make things problematic.)
"Okay. So here is the plan for now."
"Expand the military force."
"Then focus on the city."
"And then farming."
"Is that correct?"
{"Yes."}
"Well... It is simple, but effective plan.... But is there truly we are not missing here?"
"I mean, it would be a giant pain in the ass if we would miss something important."
"...."
"...."
{"I can’t really think of anything."}
{"I think we already did some of the more important stuff already."}
"Welp, if that is the case, then let’s get to the work, Thauma."
"..."
{"Ah."}
"?"
"What? Did you finally remembered something?"
{"Well, it is not job related, but it is kind of related to my name."}
{"I’ve completely forgotten to tell you about this."}
"???"
"Your name?"
"What about it?"
{"It got changed."}
{"Or more exactly, I’ve forgotten to tell you that I have a surname now."}
"???"
(Surname?) – thought extremely confused Porai.
(Why is he talking about this now?)
"Like... You picked yourself one? Or-"
{"No."}
{"Ariava gave me one."}
{"Hers."}
"Oh.... Okay."
"..."
"..."
"!?"
"Wait, hold up!" – said Porai with a delayed reaction as it clicked in her head.
"Did you said hers?!"
{"Yes."}
{"I’m now Thauma Byrawa."}
