Chapter 272: Chapter 272 – Development of territory.

<<One of my most important discoveries that I had made was the Forget Skills, a man-made skills that can affect a being.>>

<<So far? They only possess ability to affect an object type of being, a golem.>>

<<However, our trio is suspecting that there is a high possibility of the Forged Skills possible affecting a being with a living body, a human for example.>>

<<The existence of the Forged Skills.... Is dangerous, to say the least.>>

<<It needs to be kept hidden, but at the same time, it could be my finally weapon that could save me from a unforeseen doom.>>

<<There are obviously countless other reasons why we need to research the Forget Skills, like to just find out what they are truly, or maybe we could obtain some data for other researches, maybe data that could allow us to evolve somewhat the Item Skills in specific directions.>>

<<Who knows?>>

<<Either way, the research of the Forget Skills is too important to be ignored.>>

<<We may need to keep it a secret.... But there may come the time where I will need to use it.>>

<<And the second most important thing.>>

<<The territory.>>

<<One of the conditions of the peace was that the empire would hand over to me the Mevon territory.>>

<<An empty version of it, without any people.>>

<<One of the problem regarding my growth was a territory, an outside territory.>>

<<My upper limit was the forest... Or more exactly, the center of it, since I really couldn’t use the edges of the forest if I wanted to hide my dungeon’s existence.>>

<<However, now the upper limit of how many golems I can have outside is straight up.... Well? I can just make a lot of golems nonstop.>>

<<Heck, I can focus on the production of my golems above everything else, like a full production like at all the times.>>

<<With it, I can pretty much obtain large amounts of miasma nonstop.>>

<<But obviously, I will have to start producing and preparing the empire type golems, which will serv the empire.>>

<<It would mean that my army growth speed will depress, but not the miasma production, meaning that everything is fine.>>

<<However, the question still remains.>>

<<What do I do with the territory?>>

<<Obviously I can’t just leave it empty.>>

<<I need to use it.>>

<<What if the enemy comes here?>>

<<What if the empire falls?>>

<<I need to be ready.>>

<<And so, I decided to build a base.>>

<<I’ve ordered my golems to start cutting down every single tree in the forest.>>

<<Pretty much, I want the entire forest that once hid my dungeon’s existence to be gone.>>

<<And in its place, I want to build a fortress, a one that my golems will be able to use in case of the enemy every coming here and attacking me.>>

<<However, Ariava proposed... Something different.>>

<<A city.>>

<<She wants me to create a massive fortress that will be at the same time a city.>>

<<She said that if I should base of operation in the outside world, it should be big and grand.>>

<<A symbol of my power.>>

<<And she wants it to be BIG!>>

<<Like, extremely massive.>>

<<And in the center of it? The dungeon will stand.>>

<<Honestly speaking? The size that she recommended me to make is.... Big.>>

<<There is one city in this territory, the Maw city.>>

<<However, that city is apparently a very small city, compare to any other average city in the kingdom, apparently that city once used to be just a town before.>>

<<Anyway, Ariava proposed that I should make a city, that would be much larger than the Maw city, a large-scale city.>>

<<Ariva must have a reason why I should do that.>>

<<Maybe having some kind of large-scale city like this will have some kind of tremendous benefit for me that I still don’t understand?>>

<<But still.... There was a bit of problem.>>

<<After the emperor and the vampire leader signed the real contract, Ariava had me "sit down", and tell me about territory management and what not.>>

<<She also taught me how the lords of the kingdoms or empire manage their territories and how should it work.>>

<<Pretty much, she taught me the basics on how I should manage the territory.>>

<<And she also told me that my territory sucked ass.>>

<<I couldn’t understand it at first about why she said that.... But as she taught me more, I realized that my territory really sucked.>>

<<The Mevon territory, it is somewhat peaceful territory.>>

<<The monster incidents that are occurring in this specific territory is extremely minimal, to the point this entire territory is known as peaceful.>>

<<However, this territory is also known as the "Cursed Territory".>>

<<Apparently during each war that had occurred, this territory ended up being destroyed and destroyed again, in the spawn of less than a decade.>>

<<According to Ariava, this territory was pretty much useless.>>

<<Both in form of strategic value or in benefits.>>

<<There is barely any form of nature defense in this territory, with it being mostly covered by planes, making this territory extremely vulnerable to attacks and extremely had to defend.>>

<<In other worlds, in the war strategic value, this territory is beyond terrible.>>

<<Then there is another problem.>>

<<No local specialists.>>

<<No mines, or special materials you can get from here.>>

<<The only thing here? Farms.>>

<<This territory is filled to the brim with farms, since this was the only real usage for this territory.>>

<<Apparently, I became the "local" specialty, with my golems, so if the empire were to tame me, this territory would become special.... But not it was mine.>>

<<The other thing are roads.>>

<<In the past, this territory sucked because it was close located near the boarder of two different nations, while it itself stood in the third different nation.>>

<<However, now after all 3 of these nations were absorbed by the fourth nation, forming the empire, this territory ended up becoming a territory that was dangerous close to different nations, to the territory that was perfect for travelers and merchants.>>

"But you can forget about using it as the merchant type territory." – Thauma began remembering the past conversation with Ariava, as she was explaining the benefits of the territory.

"Right now you are vulnerable, not developed, weak and especially, not adjusted to the merchant life."

"Simple put, they could scam the living hell of out of you, or somebody may use your territory to do some shady deals, which could possible end up with you receiving the accusation of making those deals."

"Or somebody may use this opportunity to attack you OR just spy on you, trying to gather information about you."

"So yeah, it is not like you shouldn’t, but more like you CAN’T!"

<<That what Ariava said.>>

<<She said in future maybe I could have merchants come through this territory, but right now is straight up a suicide, so I should avoid it at all cost, unless I want to make a direct trade with the empire, which the contract allows me to do.>>

<<Still... I mean, I get the goal now.... But doing that kind of massive construction may take months or even years.>>

<<I not only need a LOT of the golems, but also materials.>>

<<I can create them via usage of miasma.... But the sheer amount of materials that I would need would be... Well? Beyond anything I ever made!>>

<<The Maw city, it is technically mine, since it came alongside the territory, this also includes all the villages.>>

<<But even if I were to break apart every single settlement and use the brick and wood I’ve obtained from them, it would be still nowhere near enough to create the planned city.>>

<<....That means I will have to buy some resources from the empire.>>

<<But then I would need to produce stuff that they would like and what not... And if I were to do that this way, I would have way less miasma to grow my dungeon.... But again.... Hm....>>

<<...>>

<<Yeb.>>

<<It won’t be easy.>>

<<However, the creation of this fortress city isn’t the main concern right now.>>

<<I need military power to control this territory and monitor it.>>

<<...Not only that.... It would be nice if I could get my hands on the dungeon cores... But how would I do that?>>

<<I mean, the problem with the dungeon core is that they are disappearing over time after they are destroyed.>>

<<And they cannot be stored or "removed" from the dungeon either.>>

<<You need to destroy it if you wish to move its remains.>>

<<The reason why I think about destroying the other dungeon is to devour them.>>

<<Despise having ability to create golems, my dungeon also posses ability to create beast type monsters.>>

<<Why?>>

<<Because in the past I had a dungeon war with another dungeon, a beast dungeon.>>

<<My golems won that war and my dungeon came the ownership of the dungeon core of the beast dungeon, allowing my own core to devour their core, evolving my dungeon core and giving it ability to create brand new type of monsters.>>

<<The beast type monsters.>>

<<AND!>>

<<There was another benefit.>>

<<The fusion category monster.>>

<<I could use the power of my original core, the golem, and the new nature, the beast, to create a hybrid monster.>>

<<The beast golem!>>

<<...>>

<<But the hybrid completely sucked ass and it couldn’t really do anything.>>

<<The hybrid had the same problem like with my original golems.>>

<<Their ability to develop via dungeon research was beyond horrendous.>>

<<Ariava said that probably hybrid types of any dungeon that I would devour would end up with the exact same problem.>>

<<Specifically, any "fleshy" creatures.>>

<<Humanoid, dragons or what not, it all could straight up become useless.>>

<<However, Ariava said that I should maybe try devouring the elemental type dungeons, since it may give me some interesting results>>

<<...>>

<<Still... Maybe I could obtain a dungeon nature that I could use to grow my own territory?>>

<<But what could I possible...>>

<<...>>

<<Beast nature does sounds good about now.... But there is problem.>>

<<Loyalty.>>

<<I really don’t have ANYTHING that will make the beasts stay loyal to me in long term.>>

<<If anything, I could fuck up and cause the beasts that are manifested from the dungeon to become my enemies OR they could run to the different territories, causing damage and me the trouble.>>

<<....Yeb....>>

<<There is a lot of trouble....And there is no real way to use any form of a shortcut.>>

<<Even though I’ve managed to obtained that peace.... By the looks of things, I will have even way more work to do now.>>
