Chapter 270: Chapter 270 – History Of Guns.

"Guns, huh? You are still researching those?" – asked Porai as she took a gun from Thauma’s hands, analyzing it and realizing it was a cylinder type pistole.

"You sure about this?"

"I mean... Well.... Hm.... Guns are nice."

"However, they are not without problems."

{"Actually, I’ve been wondering about it."}

{"According to the information that you had provided me with, the empire plans on mass producing guns and equipping their soldiers with it, creating guns units."}

{"Not only that, but Ariava told me that you know story of guns, so I was wondering if you could tell me about them."}

"Well... Yes, and yes... The empire is currently trying to arm its army with guns and I do know the story of the guns."

"Guns are good and stuff."

"However, the weak guns are somewhat... Useless."

"Can you bring me out those guns that you had stolen?" – asked Porai, which Thauma complied to the woman’s request as it quickly left the workshop, before few moments later retuning back with several guns.

"Okay. This one here." – said Porai as she took out a flintlock gun.

"This one here? It is completely useless."

"In the past, the only way of fighting were with blades and magic."

"However, as the magic would advance, so would the technology."

"And with it, the discovery of the gunpowder was made."

"At first, the gunpowder was used for nothing more that explosives."

"A tool of mass destruction that could easily turn the tides of war."

"However, all of that would change the moment the otherworlder would appear."

{"Otherworlder?"}

"Oh, right... It wouldn’t be surprised if you haven’t heard about them."

"Honestly, they ARE interesting bunch, if I say so, I even researched about them, since they caught my attention out of nowhere when I was researching different stuff at the time."

"Do you want me to talk about them nor or later?"

"This will be bit long talk, but I will try to keep it short."

{"Now, if you can. I’m bit curios."}

"Well... The otherworlder are beings from the otherworld."

"A different reality per say."

"They are usually ’humans’ in appearance... But they are not."

"The otherworlder come from the world where the magic normally does not exist."

"Like, mystics, magic, mana and everything special, it isn’t real."

"The only race there, are humans."

"Golems like yourself or dungeon does not exist either."

"Nor anything like monsters."

"And now, you are probably wondering how people know about them."

"Well, they appear in this world."

"From what I know, there are few ways for the otherworlder to get here."

"First is summon. Somebody summoned the otherworlder via form ritual."

"The second is the unstability."

"This method is less known and nobody knows how it truly works, but from the records left by the otherworlder, it seems that they just suddenly appeared one day without warning."

"And the third method is the reincarnation. Their souls would end up being revived as the being from that world."

"As you probably thought of already, they would just die the moment they came here."

"I mean, no magic or anything like that, they would just die on the spot the moment they came here."

"However, the reincarnated are.... Mutated and adapted."

"Some theories states that there is a god of passage and worlds out there who guides the ’lost souls’ to this world."

"Some say that the otherworlder are summoned by the gods of this world as their champions."

"And some says that it is a process of mutation, adaptation and evolution."

"This theory is the most interesting one amongst many researchers."

"It says that the moment the otherworlder is heading towards this world, they entire being undergone a change, extremely powerful adjustment to make them be even able to exist in that world."

"However, the adjustment, the evolution, the adaptation and the mutation itself is extremely powerful, which straight up causes a special form of reaction."

"A Unique Skill."

"You heard about them?"

{"Yes. I did."}

{"Unique skills. A skill extremely special that are tied to the specific being."}

{"They are not like born type skills or the learn type skills, but at the same time, they are the same."}

{"The powers their posses varies. One can make you just allow you teleport, a powerful one."}

{"Or another – simple one – A ability to tell lies apart."}

{"These skills are said to be extremely special, to the point acquiring a second copy of it seems like a complete miracle."}

{"Some people are born with those unique skills, like it could be a powerful ability that is tied to the bloodline."}

{"Another example of that would be if a being manages to manifests them."}

"That is pretty much the gist of it."

"The unique skills are extremely rare and they are not easily obtained. Heck. Somebody may try their entire life to acquire one, only to fail and die of old age."

"They are not something you can just willy-willy get on the spot."

"But the otherworlders? They DO possess the unique skill."

"No matter if they were teleported, drifted or reincarnated, they always possess it."

"They are unique beings themselves."

"And it is not like a bloodline type of unique skill, no. Each of them have their own unique skills."

"..."

"As for how people view those otherworlders.... Well... It depends."

"Some see them as heroes send by the gods."

"And other seem them as monsters."

"And some, see them nothing more than weapons."

"..."

"Let’s end the talk here and return to guns."

"The otherworlder that I wish to talk about.... Well, truth to be told, his name was never recorded in history."

"He was known as the Old Soldier."

"Some say that the Old Soldier never wanted his name to be recovered... I don’t know anything, nor I think there are any records that would give a solid story regaling him."

"However, what is known to the world, is that he is the one responsible for brining the gun into this world."

"Specifically, this model."

"The flintlock gun."

"According to the history books, the Old Soldier apparently recreated this guns from his world in order to save the village that once saved him....However, this only caught attention of the kingdom whose village was part of... Which unfortunately resulted in the death of the entire village as well as the otherworlder."

"And the moment the kingdom got their hands on the guns and their crafting method.... It would take long for the other nations to learn about their existence and recrate them."

"When the guns appeared in the past.... The war.... Well, let’s just say it change."

"In the long past, the one thing that could truly decide the war was magic."

"In the past, people couldn’t really understand arts or magic full potential, making it far weaker compare to the modern era arts and magic."

"Heck, in the past, civilization was bottom of the food chain, goblins in the past were consider as extremely high level threat that could had threaten the entire nation because of the fact how fast they can reproduce."

"But I don’t know if that part was true or not.... Then again, I once saw.... Never mind, I’m getting side tracked now."

"So... With the magic, arts and all sort of stuff being way weaker there, how do you think guns did? What were their impact the moment they made their appearance?"

"The answer? Grand."

"The moment the guns appeared, the whole world changed."

"Mages could had been taken down with a single shot."

"A single small piece of lead, if the bullet struck just in right place."

"For the entire era, the guns would become one of the most feared weapons of that time."

"However, things would change overtime."

"Technology, understanding, magic research and what not all would advance."

"The people would obtain better understanding of arts, being able to properly use them now, while magic would also evolve into something new, being way easier to handle and use."

"Obviously all sort of technologies would also advance and evolve, which included gun technology."

"The guns were at the time still feared weapons, so obviously, people wanted to make them even stronger."

"For example.... Ah. This one."- said Porai as she took the second gun that once belonged to the agent of the vampires, Arthur.

"This gun, it has skill, doesn’t it?"

"People would try to advance guns and what not, in order to make them stronger."

"Some alternatives to the gunpowder were found and some new models for the guns were created."

"However, with each new era, the impact that the guns would have on the world would somewhat decrees."

"The guns ARE still used to this day and many kingdoms DO use them even now, equipping their soldiers with it."

"However, there are problems."

"For example, your crossbows are one of them."

"You can create crossbow that has enough power to pierce right thought a helmet and just murder somebody on the spot."

"You can later on go and retrieve the shot bolt, but what about guns? How do you retrieve gunpowder?"

"Or mages? They can just recover their mana after sometime."

"There is also medicines, protections and what not. It is harder to kill somebody for good now, compare to the best."

"Guns are there and they still have impact."

"But nowhere near when they first appeared and dominated the era."

"But still, people are still evolving them and finding ways to make them stronger."

"Since they are still extremely dangerous weapons."

"Weapons like flintlocks are.... Rare to say the least these days."

"Some of the guys that do work for me have them, but mostly for nothing more than research purposes."

"Some weapon shops sell these flintlock guns as well.... But it wouldn’t be surprised if they were at the moment notice in the near future would just straight up disappear from shelves, since the number of people even using these things are extremely rare these days."

"One of the things to also consider is accuracy, power and ammunition."

"Which includes the gunpowder usage in the talk."

"The guns that uses this kind of bullets are way better, since they use up way less gunpowder, so you can probably see the first difference." – said Porai as she took one of more modern looking bullets and the single lead sphere bullet for the flintlock guns for comparison.

{"What about weapons that uses magic as explosion trigger instead of gunpowder?"}

"There are some out here."

"If anything, I have one on myself all the time." – said Porai as she used her ring to open up a pocket space and take out a big thick barreled hang gun.

"This one uses the magic to fire bullets."

"You need to use specific made bullets for this gun." – said Porai as she opened up her gun, revealing it to be a cylinder type gun, before then taking out one of the bullets and handing it over to Thauma.

"..."

{"I can tell its different without taking it apart."}

"Well, I rarely use this gun in the first place, if I say so myself."

"It is an extremely good gun that I’ve had made myself."

"But my metal magic makes up more for it than you think." – said Porai as she quickly took off her current clothing and quickly equipped her battle clothing, an armored biking alongside her white coat with hood.

The woman took out from her coat the liquid metal, which she then concentrated and fired in single point, extending her liquid metal extremely rapidly in the form of very slim line, which then pierced one of the training dummies in the workshop right in the head.

"And dead."

"Honestly speaking, you can even shot me with a gun, but my metal coating and my armored bikini would be able to tank it with ease."

"But, there are few things you should know."

"People developed special enchantments and even skills that can help out with handling guns."

"And there is also countless sort of things and weapons out there."

"For example there could be a sword that can cut with barely any effort a cub of metal."

"Or maybe a sword that can generate fire."

"There are probably out there in the world the guns that can pierce through my defense as well." – said Porai as she put down on the table the gun she was holding, before moments later using her ring to open up the pocket space once again.

"Not only that, but who to say that the guns themselves were the only things evolving?" – said Porai as she reached with her hand into her ring’s pocket space, before then out a single bullet and a different kind of gun, a one shot type hand gun.

"?"

{"This one is different."}

"Yeb. Not only design, but you can probably feel it."

"The mana."

"The main charm of this gun isn’t the gun itself, but the bullets its fires."

"This bullet is constructed without gunpowder."

"But instead it uses volatile mana crystals."

"This bullet, the projectile part, was also not mass produced, but hand crafted by me." – said Porai as she opened up her new gun and loaded the single bullet into the only chamber, before then aiming at one of the training dummies.

"Better watch it." – said Powin before then pulling the trigger, causing the gun to fire with the burst of blue light, while the bullets instantly traversed the space, before then landing on the training dummy’s torso.

The bullet pierce right through.... But at the same it didn’t.

No.

It didn’t just pierced through.

It completely destroyed it, shattering the torso of the training dummy, completely destroying it with a single shot.

"!?"

"Interested?" – asked Porai as she saw Thauma having reaction upon witnessing the instant destruction of the training dummy.

"You can probably tell, but this could probably happened to a human if they were also shot like this."

"..."

"Guns have problem, many to be exact."

"Just as any weapon out there."

"But at the same time, you cannot deny their deadlines that stands out amongst different kind of guns. Not only that, there is a huge variety of guns AND there is also a lot of different materials, enchantments and what not you can add to them, giving them ability to be a lot of things."

"So.... With that said."

"What exactly do you want to know about the guns?"
