Chapter 3162: Chapter 3162
Ye Liuyun released both of his avatars, cloaked himself in the power of heaven and earth and spatial force, and hid among the stars to watch the dynasty’s armada from afar.
After surveying the area, the fleet indeed chose that same plain. Their numbers were so vast that the ground was too cramped to deploy a proper formation.
Yet Ye Liuyun suddenly noticed several high-realm vicious beasts brazenly scouting the army’s movements—obvious spies sent by the beast horde.
“These beasts don’t even bother hiding themselves,” he muttered, speechless.
Fortunately, the army paid them no mind and simply advanced toward the plain.
The watching beasts grasped their intended landing spot at once and raced back to report, rallying their kin.
Soon Ye Liuyun saw pack after pack of beasts thundering toward the plain.
“Idiots—couldn’t they be subtle and launch a sneak attack? A perfect chance, turned into a frontal assault!”
He sighed inwardly. The dynasty’s troops had surely spotted the beasts and knew an attack was coming; retreat was now impossible.
There was nothing he could do for the beasts, so he focused on the fleet. Sure enough, the soldiers stirred and readied for battle.
Ye Liuyun could only keep an eye on the commanders and top experts, poised to strike. As soon as the troops began landing, he and his avatars closed in.
The dynasty forces, forewarned, disembarked in two columns.
Ye Liuyun used the two demonic flood dragons to brief their chieftain: watch for encirclement by the dynasty troops and pull out in time.
The chieftain agreed readily and passed the warning to the other beast kings—though whether they would listen was beyond his control.
From every direction, the beasts charged.
“No! Don’t crash head-on into the Fireseal Dynasty’s army!” Ye Liuyun warned the chieftain as he raced toward the battlefield.
The chieftain replied helplessly: he had no authority; those packs weren’t under his command.
And with the attack already launched, there was no calling them back.
“...So they’re just throwing their lives away.”
Ye Liuyun gave up on the beasts; the fleeting window of opportunity demanded his full attention now.
He and his three avatars shot straight at the Ninth-Order experts and commanders. Even cloaked, they were detected.
A mid-Ninth-Order expert raised a hand, slicing space into fault lines that barred their path.
“Beast ambush!”
He alerted the commanders, sensing spatial ripples—mistaking Ye Liuyun for a beast.
First Avatar froze time, then used spatial shift to fling Ye Liuyun and Second Avatar beside the commander while blasting the spatial lock apart with raw spatial force.
Ye Liuyun and Second Avatar instantly unle their soul power into the commander’s sea of consciousness.
Every soldier and commander wore soul-defense treasures. Ye Liuyun’s twin souls pried open the artifact’s array and plunged inside, planting a slave seal on the commander’s soul.
The commander’s soul was formidable, but still no match. Ye Liuyun immediately rifled through his memories to gauge their strength.
The commander possessed a late-Ninth-Order dragon-elephant for formation charges; other commanders had beasts as well, but no hidden human experts.
They still had fifty thousand regular troops and a hundred thousand surrendered soldiers guarding Jiang Yunyang at a fixed camp. Resources were nearly exhausted—hence this urgent expedition.
After taking stock of the situation, Ye Liuyun relaxed and began working with his second clone to seize high-soul-power Ninth-Order martial artists
His first clone soon arrived, targeting the army’s accompanying array masters first—sweeping them straight into his spatial world—then moved on to alchemists and artifact refiners. It also gathered every martial artist already under Ye Liuyun’s or the second clone’s control and stashed them away as well
When the first clone’s time power was nearly exhausted, the second clone seamlessly took over
The army’s top experts suddenly realized their commander and many elites had vanished, but before they could react, time froze again
With the last sliver of his time power, Ye Liuyun pulled both clones inside his spatial world. Only two or three hundred Ninth-Order experts remained outside
“Well, that’ll have to do.”
He curbed his greed, used the remaining time power to flash far from the army, and only then let time resume
“Where’s the Grand Marshal?”
“Where did everyone go?”
The remaining experts looked utterly bewildered, yet no one could be found
Still, the army continued to rally and form battle lines as ordered before landing. The beasts were already charging. Some squad commanders led their ready-formed units to meet the onslaught
Though the army had lost its Grand Marshal, the smaller commanders had no trouble directing troops to hold the beasts back
Even among the hundred-thousand surrendered soldiers, many units had set up defensive formations and prepared to engage. Yet their strength was low and their gear poor; they couldn’t withstand the beasts’ impact
Tens of thousands of beasts surged forward, many at late or peak Unity Realm. Their charge tore the defensive line apart and scattered the formations
But the beasts attacking the Huoyin Dynasty’s main force met stiff resistance and concentrated fire. Rank after rank of beasts were halted by disciplined formations
The dynasty army lacked energy cannons, yet volleys of arrows and crossbow bolts alone suppressed the beasts. Their equipment was excellent: even ordinary soldiers carried True-grade Seventh-Order gear, so the beasts couldn’t close to melee
Several elite detachments—thousands strong, each soldier at Seventh or Eighth Unity—now encircled the beasts. If the creatures didn’t pull back soon, escape would become impossible
Only the beasts slamming into the surrendered troops found easy prey. Wherever they struck, the ten-thousand-man army broke and fled, becoming food for the predators
Through his golden pupils Ye Liuyun saw clearly: the Demon Flood Dragons were obedient, sending only beasts at Fourth Unity or higher. They, too, targeted the surrendered troops, devouring as they advanced and leaving no cleanup when they withdrew
“It’s already come to this—nothing more I can do.”
Watching tens of thousands of beasts now encircled by the dynasty army, Ye Liuyun could only try to rescue what he could
He led his own demonic beasts in a charge against a thousand-man unit moving to encircle the creatures. Those soldiers were Seventh or Eighth Unity—he and his beasts could delay them for a while. Whether the trapped beasts could break free afterward would depend on sheer luck.
