Chapter 2926: Chapter 2926
Ye Liuyun approached the entrance of the merchant guild, and immediately, sales attendants swarmed around him. Yet, his gaze remained fixed solely on Qin Mengxi.
Qin Mengxi spotted him at that very moment, and tears instantly welled up uncontrollably.
These past days, she had endured immense hardship and even danger in her relentless search for Ye Liuyun. Even in the merchant guild, her nerves had been stretched taut every single day.
Now, seeing him before her, all the grievances she had suppressed came flooding to the surface. She stood frozen in place, her mind blank, murmuring repeatedly under her breath, "I’ve finally found you!"
Ye Liuyun couldn’t bear to see her like this and strode over without hesitation.
The surrounding attendants quickly realized that Ye Liuyun was the person Qin Mengxi had been desperately seeking. They had all heard she was searching for someone, and now, observing the expressions on their faces, they pieced together the situation. No longer crowding around Ye Liuyun, they instead watched the two of them intently, curious about how events would unfold.
Ye Liuyun walked right up to Qin Mengxi and gently wiped her tears away.
"You’ve suffered so much these past days! Why did you put yourself through all this?"
Qin Mengxi could no longer hold back. With a loud sob, she buried herself in Ye Liuyun’s chest, clinging to him as if letting go would mean losing him again.
It wasn’t until a guild steward noticed the commotion outside and came to inquire that Qin Mengxi finally quieted her weeping. Ye Liuyun briefly explained the situation to the steward, who didn’t make trouble for them—only urging them not to linger at the entrance and draw a crowd.
Without delay, Ye Liuyun led Qin Mengxi away.
"Where are we going?" she asked, still sniffling.
"Let’s just leave this place first," he replied.
With that, he guided her into the starry void and summoned a skyship. Once the two martial cultivators assigned to protect Qin Mengxi boarded, he instructed them to pilot the vessel toward the Qin family’s territory.
"You’re taking me home?" Qin Mengxi’s voice trembled as she recognized the direction they were heading. She looked to Ye Liuyun for confirmation.
Ye Liuyun also confirmed, "That’s right. I’ve finished everything I needed to do. Once I get you safely home, it’ll be time for me to leave."
Qin Mengxi’s face fell with disappointment. She murmured an acknowledgment before falling silent.
Ye Liuyun could tell she was reluctant to see him go, but since he had to leave sooner or later, it was better to make her accept it now.
After a while, Qin Mengxi finally gathered herself enough to ask, "How did you know I was waiting here for you all this time?"
Since he was about to leave anyway, Ye Liuyun saw no reason to keep secrets. He gave her a rough summary of everything that had happened since his arrival.
"...It wasn’t until I infiltrated the Tang family by impersonating Tang Xiaofeng that I stumbled upon you. Otherwise, I’d never have guessed you’d be bold enough to go looking for me on your own..."
Only after he finished did Qin Mengxi fully understand the situation.
Ye Liuyun had expected her to scold him again—accusing him of killing and wrongdoing for the sake of seizing resources. But to his surprise, she said nothing of the sort. Instead, she simply asked where he was headed next.
"I’m going to the nearby demon territory first, and then I’ll return to the battlefield against the alien races to lead my troops in battle," he answered honestly.
Curious, Qin Mengxi asked more about these alien races, and Ye Liuyun gave her a general explanation.
"So... your forces were defeated by those alien monsters, which is why you came to our star system in search of resources? And once you find them, you’ll go back to fight the aliens again?" she asked suddenly after listening to his account.
"That’s right," Ye Liuyun admitted openly. "Our army lacks enough high-level combatants. We had no choice but to retreat temporarily to gather resources and strengthen ourselves—only then will we stand a chance against them."
"But if you’re fighting for the sake of all star systems, why not just ask the others to provide resources instead of stealing and taking them by force?" Qin Mengxi blurted out, her naivety showing again.
Ye Liuyun chuckled. "Who would believe us? Even if they did, no one would willingly hand over resources unless the aliens were literally at their doorstep!"
"Your thinking is too naive. You’d better just stay home from now on—the outside world isn’t for you. It’s too dangerous!"
Qin Mengxi pondered for a moment, admitting that Ye Liuyun had a point. Still, she pressed him, "Then can you take me with you? I want to contribute to the fight against the alien races too. My Buddha Light power is perfect for dealing with them."
But Ye Liuyun refused outright. "Your intentions are good, and I understand how you feel, but I can’t bring you along. You’re too weak and lack combat experience. You wouldn’t just be useless—you’d end up needing protection yourself."
Instead of backing down, Qin Mengxi countered, "Am I really the weakest among all the people under your command?"
Ye Liuyun thought about it. Truthfully, she wasn’t. At least her current cultivation had reached the sixth level of the Dominator Realm, surpassing even A-Xing and the others.
"Well... no, not the weakest," he admitted honestly.
Qin Mengxi’s eyes lit up immediately. "Exactly! Strength can be improved, and combat experience comes with practice! Why not take me with you when you go to the demon realm? You can see how I perform!"
Ye Liuyun had no intention of bringing her, so he tried to scare her off. "You think demons are easy to deal with? This isn’t some training drill—people die out there! Have you ever seen the brutality of a battlefield? Watched demons tear people apart and devour them?"
Pouting, Qin Mengxi shot back, "But you promised to take me on adventures before! You’re going back on your word. Last time, you abandoned me and made me suffer so much. Now you don’t want to bring me again. How am I supposed to get stronger or gain experience if I never go out?"
Her words made Ye Liuyun hesitate. He *had* tricked her before and left her to endure hardship. He couldn’t deny that.
*Maybe I can make it up to her by taking her to the demon realm once, then sending her back to the Qin family with the Black Tower teleportation. I don’t need to hide my strength from her, and I won’t see her again afterward.*
The idea didn’t seem so bad.
Seeing his hesitation, Qin Mengxi sensed an opening and pressed further, "If you don’t take me, I’ll just go to the demon realm by myself. I’ve got travel experience now—next time, I’ll bring enough spirit stones!"
That threat worried Ye Liuyun. If she really went alone and ran into vicious demons, they’d tear her apart without hesitation.
With a sigh, he relented. "Fine, you win. I’ll take you to the demon realm. But after that, you *have* to go home. No more following me!"
"Really?" Qin Mengxi beamed, then immediately challenged him again. "But what if I perform well and prove I’m suited for battle? Will you take me to fight the alien races then?"
Ye Liuyun chuckled. "If you still feel that way *after* dealing with demons, we’ll talk about it then."
