Chapter 2864: Chapter 2864

The moment Ye Liuyun struck, the wolves knew they had stumbled into a trap.

The two azure wolves that had charged in were no match for him, and their plight drew more of the pack to rush in, unwilling to abandon their kin. Yet, the majority of the wolves remained where they were, holding their ground. Those that entered, however, were swiftly overpowered by Ye Liuyun, and none managed to escape. The pack waited a long while, but as the last of the azure wolves inside fell to Ye Liuyun, the alpha wolf let out a piercing howl and led the rest of the pack in retreat.

The alpha had realized that any wolf caught in the formation was trapped, serving only as target practice for Ye Liuyun. Sending the entire pack in would have been futile, so the alpha chose to cut its losses and save the majority. Before leaving, it fixed a sharp, lingering gaze on Ye Liuyun, as if committing his face to memory.

"Tsk, tsk, these azure wolves are far cleverer than those dim-witted birds!" Zhuque remarked, impressed by the alpha’s clear intent to seek revenge later.

After dispatching the remaining wolves trapped in the formation, Ye Liuyun collected the bait he had used to lure the beasts, leaving the azure wolf carcasses behind as new decoys. That night, other wild creatures passed by the area, but most took one look at the pile of abandoned wolf corpses—a blatant sign of a trap—and quickly steered clear. A few foolish, gluttonous beasts ventured in, only to be eliminated by Ye Liuyun.

By the next morning, the formation held not only the azure wolves’ bodies but also the carcasses of a porcupine and a savage bear.

The Golden Condor King had ventured out early to scout the area. The moment it emerged from the canyon, Ye Liuyun sensed its aura—a Dominator Realm ninth-level powerhouse. Though he couldn’t be certain it was the condor king, a beast of that level undoubtedly held high status within its flock.

Catching sight of the scattered carcasses below, the condor king initially seemed inclined to fly past. But then it abruptly wheeled around, circling once over the dead beasts. Detecting no obvious ambush, it dove downward, planning to snatch the porcupine mid-flight without ever touching the ground.

Yet the moment it entered the formation’s range, the scenery before it shifted. There, feasting contentedly on the ground, were the fifty-plus condors that had gone missing.

With a sharp cry, the condor king landed among its flock and immediately jabbed its beak toward one of the condors eating heartily.

At that moment, Ye Liuyun and Zhu Que simultaneously surged into its consciousness, planting a slave seal before beginning to extract its memories.

“This thing is actually the Golden Eagle King!” Ye Liuyun exclaimed in astonishment after retrieving the information.

“No wonder these golden eagles are so foolish! Their king turns out to be the most dim-witted of them all!” Zhu Que burst into roaring laughter.

Ye Liuyun immediately released the Golden Eagle King, using the slave seal to manipulate it into continuously sending golden eagles to their doom.

Thus, every so often, two or three golden eagles would fly out from the canyon, charging straight into the formation, only to be captured by Ye Liuyun.

By the end of the day, every battle-capable golden eagle in the entire tribe had been sent over by their king. Finally, Ye Liuyun commanded the Golden Eagle King to lead the remaining eagles in an all-out assault, swarming into the formation.

“Haha! These creatures are quite powerful—just incredibly stupid! Let’s hope Bai Hu doesn’t turn foolish after absorbing their bloodline!” Zhu Que joked heartily with Ye Liuyun.

Ye Liuyun hadn’t expected capturing the golden eagles to go so smoothly. After clearing the battlefield, he summoned Qiong Qi to dismantle the formation and finally began studying the canyon in earnest. They had previously avoided entering for fear of alerting the eagles.

Through memory extraction, Ye Liuyun had learned that the metal energy was weaker at the canyon’s ends and strongest at its center. Confident in his physical resilience, he felt certain he could handle the energy levels at the entrance.

He stepped inside to experience firsthand the legendary “blades of wind and swords of rain.”

What met his eyes was a breathtaking sight: longswords fell from the sky like silken threads of rain, while the winds sweeping toward him carried the sharpness of sweeping sabers.

Yet these were not physical weapons—they were manifestations of metal-attributed energy, condensed into tangible forms. Ye Liuyun allowed the attacks to strike his body, feeling the impact of swords and sabers. His physique held firm without issue, and the metal energy that hit him was absorbed directly into his system.

Assessing the intensity, he concluded that even the women like A Xing could withstand this level of force—for him, it was effortless. He pressed onward, deeper into the canyon.

But the farther he went, the denser the wind-blades and sword-rain became. Not only did the attacks grow more frequent, but their force also intensified, and the metal energy within them grew increasingly refined.

Relying on his formidable physique, Ye Liuyun traversed the entire length of the canyon, moving from one end to the other without pause.

His clothes had long been shredded to tatters. He had endured the excruciating pain of being sliced by invisible blades and swords just to reach the very heart of the canyon, his body covered in cuts. But now, those wounds had already healed.

This outcome had surprised even him. His physical body was already tough enough to withstand attacks from experts at the third level of the Guiyi realm, yet here he was, getting cut open. He estimated that his doppelganger wouldn’t even make it halfway to the center.

Though he had suffered, he could feel that his physical resilience had improved significantly.

"This place is absolutely perfect for body tempering!" Ye Liuyun exclaimed with excitement.

He first went to check on the Golden Roc’s territory, confirming it was truly safe, before releasing everyone else. He explained the situation within the canyon to them.

Afterward, Ye Liuyun left the women in the valley, with the Demon Vine stationed at a distance to protect them. He then escorted all the men to the outer edge of the canyon for body tempering.

The canyon was densely packed with razor-sharp blades and swords, and the metallic energy was so thick that even Ye Liuyun’s Golden Pupils couldn’t see more than ten yards ahead. The central area wasn’t just one single point of maximum intensity—it stretched over a long distance. As long as neither side crossed the boundary, they wouldn’t be able to see each other. This way, separating the men and women avoided any awkwardness.

He also had Qiong Qi set up several layers of defensive formations at the canyon’s entrance to prevent other feral beast from accidentally wandering in. Then, he headed straight for the very center of the canyon to cultivate his physical body there.

His doppelganger stopped absorbing the bloodline pearls and came out to temper his body as well. The bloodline pearls could be absorbed anytime, but this opportunity for body refinement was the best chance for the doppelganger to close the gap in physical strength with the original.

Everyone else did the same, putting aside their other cultivation methods to train their bodies in this storm of blades and swords. The feral beast also revealed their true forms, grinding their resilience within the canyon.

Instantly, the differences in everyone’s physical strength became apparent. Each person stopped where their skin began to split open, cultivated for a while, and then advanced further.

Aside from Ye Liuyun, the Stone Ape and the Demon Vine didn’t need body tempering. Among the others, the ones who ventured deepest were the Dragon Maiden, Lei Ming, and the Nine-Headed Demon Dragon, followed by Hei Shan and the doppelganger. Then came Ye Tiandao, the White Tiger, and the Purple Kylin Snake. The rest couldn’t even make it halfway.
