Chapter 2749: Chapter 2749

After thoroughly assessing the battlefield situation, Ye Liuyun proactively suggested leading a mission to capture alien prisoners on a nearby planet. The location was known for frequent small-scale enemy patrols—an ideal spot for such an operation.

However, the enemy forces there were no pushovers, and the mission carried significant risks. One wrong move could result in being surrounded by hostile troops. That made it the perfect assignment for a highly skilled squad like Ye Liuyun’s.

Even Liu Haotian was visibly pleased with the proposal.

"Excellent!" he agreed without hesitation, convinced that this was the most suitable task for Ye Liuyun at the moment.

He then handed Ye Liuyun a spatial Interspatial Ring containing specialized communication talismans and additional supplies.

"Normally, I’d issue you armor and weapons, but since you’re already well-equipped, I’ve converted those into extra resources instead. There’s also operational funding inside, along with a small battleship tailored for your team. This is your first mission—make it a victorious one!" Liu Haotian instructed firmly.

"Understood!" Ye Liuyun acknowledged before immediately rallying his troops and setting off.

Once Ye Liuyun had departed, Liu Haotian turned to the other commanders for their thoughts.

"Remarkable."

"A rare talent."

The responses were unanimously positive. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

Liu Haotian chuckled heartily, clearly satisfied. To him, Ye Liuyun felt like a seasoned subordinate—someone who required little instruction and worked seamlessly with the team.

"Now, we’ll see how he performs in actual combat."

While first impressions mattered, Liu Haotian knew better than to jump to conclusions. He had encountered commanders who excelled in theory but faltered in battle before. Until Ye Liuyun proved himself in multiple engagements, he wouldn’t fully integrate him into large-scale operations.

Ye Liuyun, too, understood that the real test had only just begun. The time for posturing was over—results were all that mattered now. And when it came to fighting the alien invaders, he would spare no effort.

Ye Liuyun and his Wolf Hunt Legion had already glimpsed the situation on their target planet before arriving. It was clearly a trap set by the alien race, deliberately luring them in. However, the ambush force numbered only around ten thousand—hardly a formidable threat.

Liu Haotian had suspected it might be a trap but chose not to warn Ye Liuyun, wanting to test his adaptability. Given the strength of Ye Liuyun’s team, even if they fell into the ambush, the losses would be minimal.

Similarly, Ye Liuyun didn’t alert his soldiers, opting instead to observe their combat readiness. He steered their warship straight toward the heart of the trap, preparing to land while locking onto one of the alien commanders.

As the warship touched down and the soldiers disembarked, the aliens immediately charged. Yet their reaction pleased Ye Liuyun—there was no panic.

The outer ranks swiftly formed a defensive perimeter, while elite martial warriors took the initiative, cutting down minor alien commanders. Several warriors at the sixth level of Dominance surged toward the enemy leader, backed by a squad of elite soldiers providing cover.

Soon, the troops within the defensive circle launched a coordinated counterattack, their movements seamless and precise.

Nodding in approval, Ye Liuyun dashed toward the alien commander—only to find that his soldiers had already wounded and captured the foe. Without hesitation, Ye Liuyun branded the commander with a slave seal and probed his mind for information.

What he discovered was unsettling: this commander was merely bait. A soul contract in his consciousness meant the aliens now knew the strength of Ye Liuyun’s forces. Their true plan was to lure out a human elite unit, then encircle and capture their leader with a massive army.

While ordering his soldiers to eliminate the remaining ambushers, Ye Liuyun relayed the situation to Liu Haotian. When asked if reinforcements were needed, Ye Liuyun declined. Whether Liu Haotian chose to counterattack and crush the approaching alien forces was none of his concern.

Familiar with the aliens’ tactics, Ye Liuyun remained unperturbed, even knowing a vast army was closing in. He directed his troops to scour the battlefield, harvesting energy cores to refine into cultivation resources, while the corpses were fed to the demon vines. Meanwhile, he absorbed the planet’s primordial essence into his spatial world.

By then, the aliens had mobilized an army of three hundred thousand, advancing from three directions to encircle Ye Liuyun’s position. Aware of his soldiers’ prowess, they dared not underestimate them.

Ye Liuyun’s golden eyes had also noticed the movements of the alien forces, yet he remained utterly indifferent. Only after absorbing the planet’s primordial energy did he signal his soldiers to prepare for battle.

Meanwhile, Liu Haotian’s side remained eerily quiet. He saw no point in deploying troops for what would merely be a skirmish with the alien army. Sending too many soldiers out wasn’t worth the cost. Better to let Ye Liuyun’s small unit wage guerrilla warfare—it would be easier for them to slip through the encirclement.

Moreover, he wanted to gauge Ye Liuyun’s reaction—whether the man would blame him for not sending reinforcements. What he didn’t realize was that Ye Liuyun hadn’t even spared him a thought, his focus entirely fixed on the alien forces’ deployment.

Once the three hundred thousand-strong alien army had surrounded the planet where Ye Liuyun stood, a detachment of one hundred thousand troops charged straight toward him.

To their shock, Ye Liuyun led his three thousand soldiers in a direct assault against them.

The alien commanders were baffled.

"What’s the meaning of this? Has their commander lost his mind? Is this suicide?"

Three thousand against a hundred thousand—even if they were strong, the odds were hopeless. And if the battle dragged on, the remaining two hundred thousand troops could easily swarm in.

Just as Ye Liuyun closed in, he suddenly unleashed the Demon-Sealing Stele, the Demon Vine, the Nine-Headed Demon Dragon, the Vermilion Bird, and the Demon Lion, commanding them to join the fray. Meanwhile, he activated his temporal power, swiftly branding the enemy commander with a slave seal. Swinging his Demon-Slaying Blade, he carved through the alien ranks, cutting down their elite warriors with ruthless efficiency.

Then, the Demon-Sealing Stele and the Demon Vine began their massacre. These two were bottomless pits, devouring alien soldiers endlessly.

The Nine-Headed Demon Dragon used the battle purely for practice, refraining from its eye-based attacks. The Vermilion Bird absorbed spectral energy as it fought, while the Demon Lion vanished in an instant, silently pilfering the storage rings from the commanders of the other two alien armies.

Ye Liuyun’s three thousand soldiers fought like a razor-sharp spearhead, slicing through the alien horde with unstoppable momentum. They mowed down their enemies like scythes through grass.

The other two alien armies watched in stunned silence, hesitating over whether to intervene.

If they did nothing, the hundred thousand troops would be annihilated. But if they joined, their own losses would be severe. In the end, they decided to act—they couldn’t let Ye Liuyun’s forces escape. So they encircled the battlefield, waiting for Ye Liuyun to crash into their defenses.
