Chapter 2618: Chapter 2618
Leyton had indeed been refining the eyes of the Three-Eyed Clan these past few days. However, having only processed five so far, he was eager to learn about Ye Liuyun’s movements.
He had also wisely changed his hideout, taking refuge within the spatial world of a ninth-level Immortal Realm alien hidden deep in the mountains. This was a calculated move to lull Ye Liuyun’s forces into complacency. After all, the allied army was preoccupied with chasing down large groups of alien troops, rarely bothering with lone Immortal Realm stragglers.
But now that Leyton had obtained the information he sought, Ye Liuyun knew that even if he rushed over, the cunning alien would have already fled. Without hesitation, he executed the Three-Eyed alien on the spot. He then handed over its eyes—along with those from another Three-Eyed alien previously slain by his clone—to the Nine-Headed Demon Dragon for refinement and enhancement.
With no time to refine them himself, Ye Liuyun focused on boosting his allies’ strength. The Nine-Headed Demon Dragon was the only one capable of wielding both white and black beams.
Afterward, Ye Liuyun shifted his position once more to avoid any potential ambush from Leyton.
He estimated that Leyton would need at least half a month to fully refine all the Three-Eyed aliens’ eyes. But whether the alien would wait until then to strike was uncertain—vigilance was paramount.
Meanwhile, the allied forces were making steady progress. The elite Vanguard Unit had drastically reduced the number of high-ranking alien warriors, while several Xuanwu beasts lurked in the shadows, systematically eliminating enemy commanders. The alliance was gaining the upper hand.
The real game-changers, however, were the Demon-Sealing Stele and the Demon Vine—unstoppable forces that feasted on alien elites with terrifying efficiency. Between the two of them, they had devoured more high-ranking aliens than even the Vanguard Unit, wiping out most of the enemy’s Dominator-level fighters.
Whenever they encountered large alien battalions, they charged in without hesitation, leaving devastation in their wake. Their destructive power was unmatched.
Yet their strength was so overwhelming that even Leyton avoided confronting them directly. He sent only two Three-Eyed elites to test their defenses—only for the Demon Vine to ensnare and consume them instantly with a pair of tendrils. The Demon-Sealing Stele, unable to refine the aliens’ third eyes, didn’t bother competing for the kill.
Through this, Leyton confirmed two things: these monstrosities were completely immune to both white and black beams, and their cultivation levels far surpassed his own. Wisely, he abandoned any further attempts.
Fortunately for him, he had concealed himself within the spatial world of a ninth-level Immortal Realm alien—too insignificant a target for the Demon-Sealing Stele and Demon Vine to bother with. Had they noticed him, he wouldn’t have had the chance to refine the remaining Three-Eyed aliens.
The Death Corps now rarely encountered worthy opponents. Even Meng Qingyin’s army of 500,000 fought with remarkable prowess, achieving multiple decisive victories.
Of the aliens’ original force of 50 million, more than half had already been annihilated. Though the alliance had also suffered heavy losses, their casualties stood at just four million—a fraction of the enemy’s toll.
Moreover, their future battles promised even fewer losses. Not only were the soldiers growing stronger, but the remaining alien forces had been scattered and demoralized, their combat effectiveness all but gone.
The lower-ranked alien races had been fleeing continuously to distant areas, evading the attacks of the Alliance army. It could be said that the alien forces were now experiencing a complete collapse. Even if Leyton made a move, it would merely be a desperate last stand.
Yet, Ye Liuyun had not witnessed any signs of the aliens attempting to escape so far. Their altars had already been destroyed by the Demon-Sealing Stele and the Demon Vines, cutting off any possibility of retreat through teleportation arrays. Moreover, the Falcon Fleet patrolling the perimeter had not reported any fleeing aliens either.
To ensure none slipped away, Ye Liuyun had even deployed powerful Sovereign-level experts like Dian Qing and Zhou Ning to guard the void of space. Meanwhile, Yu Xiaofeng had led the remaining Alliance forces from their base to begin the second wave of clearing out the remnants of the alien soldiers.
Ye Liuyun was well aware that Leyton, after days of silence, was likely to make his move soon. Thus, he paid even closer attention to the surroundings of the Vanguard Regiment.
One day, as the Vanguard Regiment was pursuing a group of aliens at the first or second level of the Celestial Realm, the enemy ranks had already begun to scatter, with some attempting to flee. But then, Ye Liuyun noticed something unusual—a first-level Celestial Realm alien was actually approaching from a distance.
Its arrival even caused some fleeing aliens to halt in their tracks and turn back to fight alongside it.
The clone immediately locked onto the alien and swung his blade without hesitation. Seeing the target of the clone’s attack, Ye Tian Dao instantly realized—this might be the one they were looking for.
Yet, the alien swiftly produced a Golden Bell Shield, encasing itself within its protective barrier.
Ye Liuyun himself had once seized such a shield and knew that even Sovereign-level cultivators with insufficient spatial power would struggle to break it. A treasure like this was certainly not something an ordinary Celestial Realm alien could possess.
The clone’s blade struck, only to be deflected by the shield. Ye Tian Dao followed with a slash of her own, but the result was the same.
At that moment, Ye Liuyun suddenly sensed a powerful alien soul rapidly approaching the clone under the cover of an invisibility cloak.
Without hesitation, the clone activated his temporal power—whether it was Leyton or not, freezing time was the safest option to prevent a sudden third-eye attack at close range.
But upon closer inspection, the clone realized that though the alien wore golden armor and appeared formidable, it was not Leyton.
"Could there be another hidden expert among the aliens?"
At this thought, the avatar unleashed a dark beam, obliterating the alien’s soul without hesitation. Since this creature was clearly an enemy rather than a friend, killing it first was the logical choice.
As soon as the avatar struck the fatal blow and time resumed its normal flow, it prepared to move the corpse into its spatial realm. But then, the alien who had earlier deployed the golden shield used spatial energy once more—this time to teleport another hostile right beside the avatar.
This time, Ye Liuyun got a clear look. It was definitely Leyton.
"A diversion!"
Ye Liuyun immediately channeled his spatial power and lunged toward Leyton. But he was already too late. The moment Leyton appeared, he fired a blinding white beam straight at the avatar’s position. The light, emitted from his third eye, was noticeably brighter—and thus more powerful—than the avatar’s own attacks.
Reacting swiftly, the avatar yanked the alien corpse it had been moving and used it as a shield. At the same time, it countered with its own white beam, then summoned a pre-prepared half-beast zombie puppet to block the next assault.
All the while, the avatar kept moving, never staying in one spot.
But Leyton, relentless, swept his deadly beam across the battlefield, his third eye locked onto the avatar.
The alien warrior’s corpse was sliced clean in half by the attack. The avatar’s own beam managed to deflect part of the assault, while the rest was absorbed by the half-beast puppet’s body—leaving a fist-sized, charred hole in its chest.
It was the first time the undead puppet had ever been so severely wounded by a white beam attack.
