Chapter 2493: Chapter 2493

Ye Liuyun barely registered the rest of Mosha’s words. His mind was consumed by Youming’s final message to him.

"She must have completely given up on her fate," he murmured to himself, a pang of guilt twisting in his chest. If only he had accepted her feelings, perhaps she wouldn’t have chosen such a path.

"Right," he replied absently to Mosha before tucking away the communication talisman.

His mood darkened, and he sought solace in the nearest tavern. Slumping into a seat, he ordered wine and food, hoping to drown his thoughts. But his wish for a moment of peace was shattered almost instantly.

In his distraction, he had forgotten to alter his appearance before entering the Holy Land—his real face was exposed. And that face had already been identified by the Black Killers when Kuangsha and the others were captured. Mosha had tried to warn him about the bounty on his head, but he hadn’t paid attention.

The tavern buzzed with chatter and clinking cups when he entered, and at first, he ignored the other patrons. But the moment he sat down, a prickling sensation crawled up his spine—several sharp, unmistakable waves of killing intent.

His senses had grown far keener than before. Though the assailants tried to suppress their hostility, he could tell they were assassins. Had it not been for his heightened perception, he might have missed their deadly intentions.

These killers were nowhere near Mosha’s level—likely new recruits to the Black Killers, still green and unrefined.

"Seems like the Black Killers have a grudge against me now too," he mused, remaining perfectly still in his seat.

Before long, the waiter brought over the wine and dishes.

Ye Liuyun picked up the wine jug and poured himself a cup. The moment the liquid touched his lips, he sensed the poison laced within.

But he didn’t care. He downed it in one gulp, treating it as nothing more than a supplement for his own toxin resistance.

Behind him, several martial cultivators exchanged glances the moment they saw him drink. Without hesitation, they launched an open attack on him.

Even Ye Liuyun hadn’t expected the Black Killers to act so brazenly now.

*Looks like the Black Killers and the Sacred Dynasty are ready to show their hand,* the thought flashed through his mind.

At the same time, he channeled his spatial power. In the blink of an eye, he reappeared behind the four assailants—three men and a woman, all in their thirties or forties.

The silent dagger in his hand flickered once, and his figure vanished again.

A series of soft *shhk* sounds followed as each of the four had their backs and chests slashed open in a single, brutal stroke.

By the time they collapsed—*thud, thud, clang*—their weapons clattering to the ground, Ye Liuyun was already back in his seat, pouring himself another cup of wine as if nothing had happened.

The entire attack had been too fast for the other patrons to process. Only now did they snap out of their shock, scrambling out of the inn in panic.

The manager and waitstaff paled, trembling as they fumbled for a communication talisman to alert the local garrison.

Ye Liuyun sighed, swirling his wine.

"Can’t even enjoy a drink in peace in this damn place."

Ye Liuyun sighed and quickly took a few bites of food, washing it down with a couple of sips of wine. He didn’t want to waste it in case things got messy later.

But the local garrison arrived surprisingly fast—likely because the patrol had been nearby.

A petty officer barged in with twenty soldiers in tow, their faces set in aggressive scowls. The innkeeper peeked out from behind the counter, recognized the patrol, and boldly pointed at Ye Liuyun before ducking back down.

Ye Liuyun couldn’t be bothered to engage with their theatrics. He remained seated, calmly eyeing the officer.

The man stormed in, already shouting, "You’re the one who killed people in public?"

"They tried to kill me first!" Ye Liuyun countered. "Check their storage rings—they’re probably Black Kill operatives."

"If they really were Black Kill, then we definitely can’t let you go!" The officer shot a meaningful glance at his men, who promptly searched the four corpses’ storage rings.

After a quick inspection, they retrieved the Black Kill insignias—but then handed the rings straight to their commander.

"Hmph." The officer nodded approvingly and pocketed the rings without hesitation.

Then he barked at his subordinates, "Take him in for questioning!"

"You sure about that?" Ye Liuyun asked coolly.

"Tch!" The officer scoffed, unfazed by the implied threat. He curled his lip and sneered, "This is Commander Luo’s territory! A man who earned his stripes in the war against the Otherworlders! He’s made it clear—Black Kill operates legally here. And you just killed their men. So yeah, you’re coming with us."

"Oh?" Ye Liuyun raised an eyebrow, genuinely surprised. "Black Kill’s operating openly now? And it’s legal?" He hadn’t expected them to make such a bold move.

"So it seems the Black Killers are making a direct power grab!" Ye Liuyun thought to himself. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

"Of course, in our territory, Commander Luo’s word is law! Will you come with us willingly, or do we have to resort to force? Just remember—there are a hundred thousand garrisoned troops here. Think carefully!" The commander even dared to threaten Ye Liuyun.

With a cold snort, Ye Liuyun couldn’t be bothered to deal with these soldiers himself. Casually, he summoned a Black Killer elder and had him dismiss the men before them.

The elder produced the insignia of the Black Killers and immediately berated the commander, "If you don’t scram now, none of you will leave this tavern alive."

The overwhelming aura radiating from him sent chills down the soldiers’ spines.

"Alright, alright, we’re leaving!" The commander hastily agreed, and the soldiers scurried out like frightened rats.

Once outside, the commander’s face twisted into a vicious scowl, his pride wounded. Without hesitation, he pulled out a communication talisman to call for reinforcements.

Ye Liuyun’s divine sense detected their lingering defiance. He turned to the Black Killer elder beside him and said indifferently, "Just kill them all. They’re an eyesore."

"As you command."

The elder bowed slightly before vanishing from the tavern.

The commander was still walking away, ranting into the talisman, when suddenly—silence. Then, his head toppled from his shoulders.

One by one, the soldiers met the same fate, their severed heads rolling across the ground.

The elder reappeared in the tavern moments later, standing quietly behind Ye Liuyun once more.

Ye Liuyun lifted his wine cup, already irritated at the thought of more soldiers soon arriving.

With a sigh, he muttered, "Tch."

He sighed, set down the wine cup once more, and rose to leave the tavern without another word. The elder silently followed behind him.

Ye Liuyun had no intention of fighting the soldiers, but neither would he flee like a coward, so his pace remained unhurried. Before he could even exit the city, a battalion of three thousand soldiers surrounded him.

"Did you two really think you could kill my men and just walk away?" the commander shouted from a distance, his voice laced with venom.

"What’s the matter? You looking to die too?" Ye Liuyun didn’t even spare him a glance as he continued walking forward, his tone icy and indifferent.

The commander studied Ye Liuyun for a moment, then suddenly stiffened as if struck by realization. "I am Luo Yongsheng," he said cautiously, his earlier bravado fading. "Might this young master be... Mr. Ye?"
