"The circumstances dictate the answer. There will be no way for us to act if those experts don’t disperse!" Ye Liuyun said.
"True. Don’t forget about the thousand soldiers that stationed there! If the opportunity doesn’t present itself, we stay put." Serena was well aware of the danger.
"Will the Sanctuary Dynasty intercept us when we enter the secret realm?" Ye Liuyun asked Serena.
Serena replied confidently, "Absolutely. But since Stygian didn’t mention it, it shouldn’t be a major issue. We’ll find a way in."
Ye Liuyun and Serena went to their rooms to cultivate after conversing for a while. Velmir then took over driving the flying vessel.
A few days later, the vessel landed ahead of schedule, and the group proceeded on foot toward the secret realm’s entrance.
At the gateway, there were ten thousand praetorians standing watch.
"Velmir and Madshark will go in first, followed by Yi Dao and Liuyun. I’ll enter last," Serena arranged the order of their entry.
"Let me go last. I’ll make it in," Ye Liuyun insisted.
The later one entered, the greater the risk. If the one ahead were detected, the ones following might lose their chance entirely.
"All right. I’ll be in the second group with Yi Dao. You two move now," Serena agreed without protest.
Velmir and Madshark quietly made their way to the entrance of the secret realm that night under the cover of the dark. They were skilled assassins who had perfected the Invisible Skill, but any mistake or encounter with a powerful martial practitioner could expose them.
Miraculously, they slipped past the patrols undetected and entered the secret realm.
However, the spatial disturbance at the secret realm entrance caused by their movement caught the attention of the guards.
This unexpected complication made the next group, which was Serena and Yi Dao’s infiltration, far more perilous.
While the two ventured deeper toward the entrance of the secret realm, they noticed additional guards being stationed there.
From a distance, Ye Liuyun observed their predicament. With a flick of Hyper Hop, he summoned the Vermilion Bird, which unleashed several fireballs toward the ground below. The ensuing chaos threw the guards into disarray, allowing Serena and Yi Yao to seize the moment and dash into the secret realm.
Swiftly, Ye Liuyun recalled the Vermilion Bird through Hyper Hop, draped himself in the Concealcape, and vanished from sight.
After sending out search groups and failing to locate the invaders, the soldiers soon gave up.
However, security at the secret realm’s entrance was tightened even further.
Ye Liuyun waited patiently till dawn, unfazed.
As daylight dawned, the guards, who had been on duty all night without incident, gradually relaxed their vigilance.
Seizing the opportunity during the shift change between two patrols, Ye Liuyun slipped into the secret realm under the cover of his Concealcape.
A faint ripple of disturbance by the entrance drew the attention of a few troops. Despite their suspicions, none of them dared to speak out for fear of being held responsible.
Once inside, Ye Liuyun expanded his divine sense to scan his surroundings.
The entrance lay nestled at the foot of a towering mountain, with soldiers stationed and concealed in the vicinity.
Alerted by the disturbance at the portal, they sharpened their focus.
Yet Ye Liuyun remained perfectly still, undetectable to their senses.
Standing motionless, he combined his divine sense with his Golden Phantom Eyes to survey the area.
Soon, his heart sank. Madshark and Yi Dao had been captured. Their bodies were bound and suspended from the branches of a tree.
Meanwhile, Serena and Velmir were concealed in another dense thicket, not far from the group.
However, all of the guards’ eyes were fixed on the entrance of the secret realm, and no one paid them any attention.
However, they dared not make a move to rescue their comrades just yet. Madshark and Velmir were heavily guarded by soldiers.
At that moment, Ye Liuyun reached out to Serena through their divine sense contract. "I’m in. Stay hidden and wait for my signal."
Serena’s heart leapt with both shock and joy. "How did you get in? Where are you?"
"No time to explain now!" Ye Liuyun cut the conversation short and remained motionless for a while longer. His Golden Phantom Eyes scanned the surroundings, confirming that the ambushers had let their guard down before he slowly shifted position, slipping out of their encirclement.
Once clear, he swiftly distanced himself and released the three Stygian operatives from his spatial world that he had previously captured.
Ye Liuyun instructed them to methodically remove each of the concealed guards after briefing them on their location.
Then, shedding his Concealcape, he summoned his clone, Phantom Hand, Xenocide, and Vespera. He stationed the clone at the entrance to prevent any soldiers from escaping to raise the alarm. Then, he dispersed the others to assist in taking out the ambushers.
With that settled, he hurried to group up with Serena and Velmir to plan for the rescue mission.
"Do both of you have feral beasts?" Ye Liuyun asked them.
They nodded, but Serena voiced her concern. "I’m worried they might send someone out to report on our intrusion."
"Don’t worry about it." Ye Liuyun reassured her. "I’ve stationed someone at the entrance. We focus on the rescue mission."
With that, Ye Liuyun activated his Xenocide-hidden Skill. Together with Serena and Velmir, they launched their assault.
"Strike!"
As Ye Liuyun approached, he first launched a Divine soul attack on one soldier before signalling Serena and Velmir to strike simultaneously.
Without hesitation, Serena and Velmir sprang into action, each felling a soldier with a single, precise sword stroke.
Then, in perfect sync, they released the two feral beasts they had brought along.
Ye Liuyun wasted no time summoning Lei Ming, Vermilion Bird, Megalithic Ape, Azure, and white tiger in their true forms to join the fray.
Velmir unleashed a massive Anaconda and an arrogant bear, while Serena surprised everyone by releasing two Demonic wolves.
These beasts were well-trained, moving in flawless harmony with their masters, amplifying Serena and Velmir’s lethality.
Meanwhile, Lei Ming and the other beasts charged headlong into battle for sheer exhilaration. They were accustomed to being protected by Ye Liuyun. Hence, they don’t have to protect him in return.
Ye Liuyun, however, continued his relentless Divine soul attacks, seizing the opportunity to devour the soldiers’ Divine Soul and extract their memories. His efficiency in slaying enemies soon surpassed Serena’s and Velmir’s.
At the same time, the soldiers stationed around the secret realm’s entrance were being systematically eliminated by Phantom Hand’s team and the three assassins.
As chaos erupted, some soldiers attempted to flee via the secret realm portal, only to be intercepted by Ye Liuyun’s clone in camouflage, who struck them down with divine soul attacks before they could escape.
Cloaked in Concealcape, the clone made the soldiers wary. Anyone who ventured near the portal would meet instant death. The three assassins, once exposed, proved manageable, their strength no match for the soldiers.
But against the three Demon Vesperas, the soldiers were utterly outmatched, falling one after another. Once Phantom Hand and his team finished their tasks, they turned to assist the assassins, swiftly clearing out the remaining ambushers.
Suddenly, a martial practitioner of the second-tier Celestial Unity realm burst out from the ground, charging straight for the clone guarding the exit.
The clone’s Golden Phantom Eyes flickered, assessing the threat. Recognising the opponent’s formidable Divine Soul power was beyond its ability to counter safely, it acted decisively. A blinding white ray shot from its eyes, obliterating the attacker mid-stride.
Then, capitalising on the momentum of the charge, the clone effortlessly absorbed the corpse into his Interspatial Ring.
