Ye Liuyun deliberately provoked the steward, trying to enrage him into launching a Divine Soul attack.
"How dare you! To call my lord by name! You lowly, insignificant fool! To stand against my lord, you’re utterly delusional!" the steward bellowed, still attempting to crush Ye Liuyun with Hong Kun’s status.
"What’s there to fear? Hong Kun deliberately sabotated the Yonglie Mansion’s grand competition. If word of that spreads, do you think he can continue being an official? I have both evidence and culprits in custody. I’m not short of proof."
Ye Liuyun ignored the threats entirely, instead working to provoke the steward further.

But he quickly realized the power of Ye Liuyun when he was enveloped by the golden light of the Universal God Token.
After a brief consideration, Ye Liuyun decided there was no use in keeping him alive. He absorbed the steward’s Divine Soul power and stored the body in the Spatial World.
The innkeeper, who had witnessed everything, trembled in fear. He worried that Ye Liuyun might kill him to silence him.
Ye Liuyun glanced at him, and the innkeeper immediately begged for mercy, promising not to say a word. He even offered to sign a Divine Soul contract with Ye Liuyun.
Ye Liuyun merely smiled. He then used a Divine Soul attack to erase the innkeeper’s memory of the steward’s visit and subsequent death.

Meanwhile, Hong Kun began to worry.

To avoid being trapped by the patrol team, the assassins under his clone needed to end the fight quickly. The fewer fighters Hong Kun had around him, the simpler the battle would be.
After midnight, when the patrol team’s numbers and frequency of patrols decreased, the martial practitioners surrounding the inn changed into black robes. They then attacked the room where Ye Liuyun and Songstress were staying.
Soon, the loud crashing sound and energy fluctuations immediately caught the attention of the patrol team, who rushed to the scene.
The rooms surrounding Ye Liuyun’s were collapsed, and anyone inside was immediately killed.
Only his room and the Songstress’s remained intact. However, when it collapsed, it revealed the Formation inside.

Once Phantom Hand and the others struck, they moved on to attack other martial practitioners.
