Chapter 2341: Chapter 2341 Rare
During this period, Ye Liuyun and his group not only investigated the strength of the City Lord Manor and the stationed troops. They also gathered intelligence on many of the city’s major powers and prominent figures, with whom they were now quite familiar.
The City Lord of Lunaris City, Liu Meng, was a native official born and raised in the region. Naturally, his son, Liu Tianhe, had been spoiled into an arrogant young man with a strong sense of entitlement.
In contrast, the military commander Wen Xingtang had been transferred from another region. His son, Wen Zihao, was no easier to deal with—bold and unruly, relying on his father’s grip over the military and showing no respect toward Liu Tianhe.
As a result, Liu Tianhe and Wen Zihao frequently clashed, and their ongoing conflicts had strained relations between the City Lord Manor and the stationed troops.
At least until recently, both sides still managed to exercise some restraint.
However, with the upcoming talent selection event on the horizon, tensions between the two younger heirs had intensified. Their respective fathers were undoubtedly hoping to see their own sons take the crown. Behind the scenes, they had already begun stirring the waters to sway the outcome in their favor.
After understanding all this, Ye Liuyun quickly formed a plan. He could exploit the growing hostility between these two factions to create the perfect pretext for intervention.
"This is our rare chance to strike," Ye Liuyun thought with a flicker of excitement. He immediately instructed Liu Tianfeng to go to and purchase several sets of military uniforms.
In the Sanctuary Dynasty, standard military uniforms could be purchased at such merchant guilds. This policy allowed soldiers to replace damaged uniforms at their own expense. However, suits of armor were strictly distributed by the military and could not be bought on the open market.
Fortunately, Liu Tianfeng had no trouble purchasing sets of uniforms.
Ye Liuyun then had Lin Wu, Yu Yao, Zhao Hu, and others take turns visiting the chamber to collect over twenty sets in total.
As for the armor, Ye Liuyun would have to come up with an alternative method to acquire it. Thankfully, they only needed a small number, which made things more manageable.
These uniforms and equipment would play a key role in staging provocations between the two sides.
Following that, he deployed people to closely monitor the City Lord Manor and the stationed troops, especially focusing on the movements of Liu Tianhe and Wen Zihao. He also ordered surveillance on the patrol teams, taking note of their schedules and routes.
After a few days of observation, they discovered that these two troublemakers often appeared in the same places. They frequently visited major taverns and brothels, always surrounded by their entourages. Coincidentally or not, they crossed paths quite often.
Since their last argument had escalated, the two of them had become much more restrained. Occasional verbal disputes would arise, but they no longer resorted to physical altercations.
Based on the information he gathered, Ye Liuyun decided to take advantage of their next encounter at the brothel to provoke a conflict and take action.
Not long after, the opportunity came. Liu Tianhe and Wen Zihai gathered their entourages and headed to the city’s largest brothel.
"Tonight, we move," Ye Liuyun instructed, preparing everyone. Along with his clones, Mo Shaowen and Liu Yang, they set off to track the patrol team.
The patrol teams in the city were divided into different districts.
With varying numbers of personnel, typically ten to twenty people per team.
Ye Liuyun’s group had their sights set on a small ten-person team in a relatively remote area. These patrol teams rotated shifts regularly. When one team was replaced, they would immediately disband, seeking food, drink, and rest before returning to the barracks.
Taking advantage of their shift change, Ye Liuyun and his group used their Scarlet Phantom Eyes to cast illusions, controlling the patrolmen and transporting them into the Spatial World. There, they stripped the soldiers of their armor.
With that done, Ye Liuyun and Mo Shaowen rushed to the brothel to stir up trouble between Liu Tianhe and Wen Zihai.
Upon arrival, they found the two already engaged in a heated exchange.
Liu Tianhe sneered at Wen Zihai. "If you can’t afford to tip, then don’t embarrass yourself here!"
Wen Zihai retorted, "Some people believe that a little bit of money makes them important, but in reality, they’re just insignificant fools."
"Who’s the real fool? You’ll see during the competition!" Liu Tianhe retorted, his disdain evident.
Between the two, Liu Tianhe was wealthier, while Wen Zihai was stronger in combat.
However, both were holding back, not uttering anything too insulting. Their subordinates also kept their behavior in check.
When Ye Liuyun and the others arrived, the situation changed. The two groups began insulting each other more fiercely, growing increasingly irritated, feeling that their honor was being trampled.
Eventually, the tension escalated to the point where they nearly came to blows. Fortunately, the manager of the brothel intervened just in time and pulled them apart.
With their tempers cooled, both sides lost interest and left one after another, taking their respective groups with them.
Ye Liuyun and Mo Shaowen followed, releasing their avatars and splitting up to act separately.
The avatar led ten Dark Legion soldiers to ambush Liu Tianhe. At the same time, Ye Liuyun and a team of martial practitioner experts focused on taking down Wen Zihai.
The ambush locations had been carefully chosen. They were secluded spots where there were few people.
They planned to attack with full force in one round, then retreat immediately to avoid detection by the patrol teams.
Once the ambush was executed, they would quickly withdraw, using their Concealcape to disappear from sight and escape.
The operation unfolded smoothly. Ye Liuyun disguised himself as a guard from the City Lord Manor, while the clone assumed the appearance of a patrol captain from the area.
Liu Tianhe’s group was the first to leave the brothel. As they reached the designated spot, the avatar, along with the ten disguised soldiers, approached them under the pretense of a routine patrol.
"Stop right there!" the avatar called out.
"Who do you think you are, stopping me?" Liu Tianhe was already fuming. Seeing mere patrol soldiers block his way, he snapped without restraint.
"You dare offend our master? You must have a death wish!" the avatar barked in the tone of a patrol captain. He signaled the soldiers to strike.
"How dare you!" Liu Tianhe was stunned. He hadn’t expected them to actually act.
The soldiers moved without hesitation. When one of the martial practitioners resisted, a soldier pretended to slip and killed him on the spot.
"Aaah!"
"Help!"
Liu Tianhe and his group shouted in panic.
"Go!" the avatar ordered. Then, the soldiers scattered immediately.
The nearby patrol teams rushed over. They spotted the avatar’s group and didn’t pursue, recognizing them as allies.
Seeing Liu Tianhe’s crew beaten down, they looked on with smug amusement.
Liu Tianhe burned with rage. He pulled out a Sound Transmission Talisman and sent a message to Liu Meng.
Liu Meng responded at once, leading his men toward the scene.
At the same time, Wen Zihai left the brothel. He had no idea what had happened. Just a short distance out, Ye Liuyun appeared in disguise. He was dressed as a guard from the City Lord Manor.
There were only three in their group, yet two of them were Omnipotent Level experts—each strike meant to kill.
Before Wen Zihai could even react, he was cleaved in half by Yu Yao, who had disguised himself as a City Lord Manor guard. In the next instant, Ye Liuyun and Lin Wu each took down one of Wen Zihai’s attendants, then vanished without a trace.
The remaining followers stood frozen, stunned into silence by the sudden carnage. Several long seconds passed before someone finally found their voice.
"Someone’s been killed!"
A terrified shout pierced the air.
