Chapter 2302: Chapter 2302 Mode of Training
Ye Liuyun and his crew gradually discerned a pattern. Islands with stronger power of origin appeared would appear brighter from a distance, much like the stars they had seen from the ground. This was the origin of the name "cosmos".
At that moment, Ye Liuyun spotted an even brighter light in the distance. But it was slightly off their course.
"Let’s head over and take a look!"
Ye Liuyun decided to steer the warship toward it. From afar, this world seemed to shine more intensely than the Outpost Island and Moyana Island.
As the battleship drew closer, Ye Liuyun’s Golden Phatom Eyes noticed that this island was larger than any they had encountered before.
When he shared this discovery with the crew, everyone grew excited. Being cooped up on the ship had left them restless and they were eager to step out to breathe some fresh air.
However, just as their battleship approached, Ye Liuyun’s Golden Phatom Eyes caught sight of another battleship. It was a massive warship capable to fit in a hundred thousand of poeple.
Furthermore, the battleship did not appear to belong to the foreign race.
Ye Liuyun immediately ordered their warship to halt.
Thanks to his Golden Phatom Eyes, they could see the other ship but they were not being detected yet.
"Retreat the warship and Qiong Qi put on the concealcape with me to scout out the situation. Stay alert, everyone."
After issuing his orders, Ye Liuyun and Qiong Qi left the retreating battleship wearing the concealcape and began their approach to the opponent.
Despite what seemed like a short distance to Ye Liuyun’s Golden Phantom Eyes, it took them two full days of sprinting to reach their destination.
Once close enough, Ye Liuyun used his Golden Phantom Eyes to observe the interior of the warship. Inside, he spotted over three hundred human soldiers.
Most of them were at the seventh or eighth tier of cultivation, with only one commander at the early stage of ninth tier.
However, their defenses were surprisingly lax. The battleship’s protective arrays were not activated and most of the soldiers were engrossed in their cultivation with hardly anyone on guard. This might explain why they had not detected Ye Liuyun’s battleship earlier.
Ye Liuyun instructed Qiong Qi to pry open the hatch and both of them slipped inside unnoticed.
Using his Golden Phantom Eyes, Ye Liuyun kept a close watch on the soldiers’ movements as they stealthily made their way toward the commander’s quarters.
Just as Ye Liuyun and Qiong Qi were quietly discussing how to breach the door, the commander unexpectedly opened it and wanted to step out. Seizing the moment, the duo swiftly subdued him and implanted a slaving seal.
After probing the commander’s memories, Ye Liuyun’s expression turned seious.
“This is the army from that planet. They call it the Sanctuary Land.” Ye Liuyun told Qiong Qi.
Noticing Ye Liuyun’s troubled look, Qiong Qi asked, “Isn’t that a good thing? We can finally make contact with them!”
“Do you know why they’re here?” Ye Liuyun shook his head, turning the question back to Qiong Qi.
"What’s wrong?” Qiong Qi asked in puzzle.
“They’re here to plunder resources and use the local martial cultivators as training fodder!” Ye Liuyun replied grimly.
“So what’s the big deal?” Qiong Qi still did not grasp why Ye Liuyun looked so serious.
Ye Liuyun explained, “This place is a settlement for human martial cultivators as well. Essentially, this made them a frontier island protecting the Sanctuary Planet. Instead of organizing these people to resist the foreign race invaders, they’re robbing them of their resources and treating this place as a training ground.
What’s worse is that they have a massive army capable of fighting the foreign races, yet they’re not using it to defend against the real threat. Instead, they’re here, honing their skills. This shows they only care about themselves and have no regard for the lives of those on the frontier islands.
And this isn’t the first island they’ve destroyed. They’ve already wiped out two others before this.”
“Are you saying that the Sanctuary Plant that we’re guarding is doing the same thing as the foreign races?”
Qiong Qi finally caught on and sought confirmation from Ye Liuyun.
Ye Liuyun nodded, "Your observation is spot on. They’re essentially doing the same thing as the foreign races."
"So... What should we do?" Qiong Qi asked Ye Liuyun.
Ye Liuyun was still unsure of the next steps but knew they had to stabilize the current situation first. "Let’s secure this place for now. They only have this one battleship, unlike us with our backup fleet."
"How far is her from the so-called Sanctuary Planet?" Qiong Qi inquired.
"It would take six months to get there with the current battleship’s speed!" Ye Liuyun replied.
Hearing it would take six months, Qiong Qi felt a sense of relief. Even if they were discovered at this distance, reinforcements would not arrive in time.
Ye Liuyun then instructed the commander to go out under the guise of an inspection, having him follow along to place salving seals on all the soldiers. Simultaneously, he signaled for their own battleship to approach.
Once their battleship arrived, Ye Liuyun brought the commander forward to give a detailed account of the Sanctuary Land’s situation.
The commander shook his head. "At least I don’t know about them. We only know that the alien vanguard is engaging with the outer islands. That’s why we’ve been ordered not to venture too far, to avoid revealing our strength."
Moreover, it was not just their unit. There were many others operating in the same manner, training and improving their capabilities.
However, they were aware that ahead lay the frontline against the foreign races, making this their final training ground. After this, they were supposed to return.
The majority of their main forces had already reached the ninth tier of cultivation and had amassed a significant amount of resources, effectively completing their training mission.
Learning the truth, Ye Liuyun and his companions felt that defending the Sancturay Planet against the foreign races was truly not worth it.
"Then what’s the meaning behind them giving us the Mayday Token? Are they waiting for us to be completely drained before sending reinforcements?" Zhao Hu asked in puzzle.
"In my opinion, they might not send reinforcements. By receiving our plea for help, they’ll realize we’ve lost our position and they can estimate how far the foreign race forces are from them." Mo Tianheng analyzed.
Ye Liuyun turned to the commander and asked, "Are you aware of the foreign race invasion?"
"Yes, we are. Our training and resource stockpiling are all preparations to resist the foreign forces. According to the intelligence we’ve gathered, the foreign race army is as numerous as ours.
They’re currently mobilizing and conducting probing attacks, but a full-scale assault is inevitable!" The commander replied.
"Do you know about the Outpost Island and Moyana Island?" Man Feng inquired further.
The commander shook his head. "At least I don’t know about them. We only know that the foreign race vanguard is engaging with the outer islands. That’s why we’ve been ordered not to venture too far, to avoid revealing our strength."
"Damn it! You don’t want to expose your strength, so you let us take the brunt of the fight!" Qiong Qi cursed in frustration.
The commander was frightened and could only apologize repeatedly.
"You may leave now." Ye Liuyun said and not pressing the commander further as this decision was likely beyond his authority.
"Let’s discuss how to handle this troop first. Moreover, this commander’s rank isn’t high. So there’s probably a lot of information he’s not privy to." Ye Liuyun addressed the group.
