Chapter 2205: Chapter 2205 None to Dispatch
During the continuous advancement of Ye Liuyun, the Revival Dynasty astonishingly never dispatched any troops to intercept him.
It was not that Mo Xiaotian did not want to dispatch troops, but he had no troops to send.
Currently, apart from the remaining fifty thousand praetorian, the rest were all Royal Court Martial practitioners. If these people were sent forth, he would not be able to protect the royal palace.
He could send more praetorian. But there would be no use if the number was too small and he could not send more.
After the commander of the previous defeated troops brought back the soldiers to the Regalty, most of them had became deserters. The commander was left doing nothing and Mo Xiaotian had him excuted in a fit of rage.
As a result, the hundred thousand army was left only with ten thousand plus people. It could not even considered as a effective combat force.
Immediately, Mo Xiaotian initiated a nationwide conscription.
However, most of the powerhouses in had started to refute the conscription, taking Ye Liuyun as a role model.
Some slightly weaker forces also united to resist the conscription, gradually forming their own regional powers.
Those weaker ones had fled with their entire clan’s martial practitioners and resources to join Ye Liuyun. The entire central region had known that Ye Liuyun did not forcefully conscript troops.
Therefore, the cities taken over by Ye Liuyun had quickly regained prosperity despite recently ravaged by war,.
Furthermore, Ye Liuyun and his subordinates were experienced in managing. The allowed both the local and incoming martial artists to freely develop. However, they kept the resources under their control.
In contrast, the Revival Dynasty was becoming increasingly bleak. Voices of resistance arose everywhere and some of the City Lord Manor had already been robbed or overthrown.
Everyone could see that the Revival Dynasty now had no troops to dispatch.
However, as some emergent powers grew stronger, conflicts also broke out among them. This had led to an ongoing warfare in various parts of the central region.
A vast amount of resources originally monopolized by the Revival Dynasty had now been seized and divided amongst numerous powers.
Even though the Revival Dynasty still sent out experts and praetorians to quell the rebellions, these forces often dispersed as soon as they striked. The rebels would regroup again when the experts and praetorians left.
At this point, Ye Liuyun halted his advance and instead passively waited for the Revival Dynasty to decline on its own.
He simply delegated Liu Yang and Mo Shaowen to lead twenty thousand subdued soldiers and a few dark armored soul cultivators to attack the southern and northern directions respectively to seize territories, grab resources and to capture powerful martial practitioners.
They were to particularly eliminate the rebellious forces that take advantage of the situation to harm the common people.
In this way, Ye Liuyun had unexpectedly became the maintainer of order in the central region.
Therefore, the reputation of Ye Liuyun had been spreading wider and the voices requesting him to replace the Revival Dynasty have been growing louder.
Mo Xiaotian was currently besieged all over the place.
He attempted to withdraw half of the one hundred thousand soldiers who are protecting the Deliverance Hill, but was refused by the military commander, Yuan Hao.
"Leaving fifty thousand men won’t be enough to guard the Deliverance Hill. Either all stay to defend, or everyone retreat!"
Yuan Hao also demonstrated a contemptuous attitude toward the Dynasty’s authority.
However, Mo Xiaotian did not dare to send out someone to attack him.
This one hundred thousand army under Yuan Hao is an inheritance from his father. It has practically become a private army of the Yuan family.
If he dared to make a move against Yuan Hao, this one hundred thousand army might disperse again. Then he would truly left with no soldiers. That was when the rising forces from various places would jointly attack the Regalty.
The reason these people dared not attack the Regalty was precisely because they knew he had this one hundred thousand army and fifty thousand praetorians.
Only then Mo Xiaotian started to take Ye Liuyun seriously as an opponent.
The fact that Ye Liuyun was able to halt his troops and divide his forces to quell the rebellion was a clear indicator that Ye Liuyun was no ordinary adversary.
Ye Liuyun’s strength also far exceeded Mo Xiaotian’s initial assumptions. He was finally willing to accept that Ye Liuyun may indeed have defeated the Fairy Clan through sheer power.
If that was the case, Ye Liuyun’s strength was at least sufficient to challenge him now.
Especially as Ye Liuyun had not only a sizable army, but it was also powerful in combat.
The only way he could hope to defeat Ye Liuyun would be through sleight of hand tactics such as stealth assaults and assassinations against the commanding officers.
Up until now, Mo Xiaotian had no idea that Ye Liuyun in the Eastcloud Dynasty’s palace was actually impersonated by Wu Qingcheng.
He merely thought Ye Liuyun was an adept leader who had chosen a good commander.
However, when he found out that Song An was the actual mastermind behind the scene and he was dumbfooled by Ye Liuyun, he was furious, wanting nothing more than to kill Song An.
As Ye Liuyun’s plans were unfolding smoothly and they knew that the Revival Dynasty had no more soldiers to deploy, they put even more emphasis on defending against stealth attacks and assassinations.
He had Wu Kun set up two laters of formations around Inferno City but the defensive effectiveness was not too strong. If multiple peak ninth-tier martial practitioners attacked simultaneously, the formations would barely provide any defense.
However, Wu Kun had done his best. Ye Liuyun could not blame him and had to express his gratitude instead.
One day, as Ye Liuyun was cultivating inside the Xuankong stone and his clone was fretting outside about unable to find a formation master,
A black-armored guard came in to report that a dishevelled old man with the surname, Huo, claimed to be a friend of Ye Liuyun had arrived at the City Lord Manor. He was accompanied by two young men.
"Haha! Just as I was thinking of him, here he is!"
Ye Liuyun immediately thought of the campfire incident that happened earlier at the eastern military camp and realized it was Qiong Qi. He ran out swiftly to personally welcome him.
Ye Liuyun changed his facial appearance, but Qiong Qi immediately dropped his Divine sense shield and recognized him.
He had a divine soul pact with Ye Liuyun before. However, his divine soul was so powerful that if he did not drop the shield, Ye Liuyun would not be able to sense him. Otherwise, ye Liuyun would have found him sooner.
"Good lad, you know to come to pick me up!" Qiong Qi nodded in satisfaction.
"Haha, I was just thinking of you and you’re here!" The clone conveyed to Qiong Qi using telepathy without revealing his own identity in front of others.
Qiong Qi immediately understood but still playfully said, "I’m the lord of the Flame Palace now, hurry up and invite me in for a good feast!"
"Haha, please come in, milord, the barbecue will be ready soon!" His clone gestured for Qiong Qi to come in.
"That’s more like it! You wouldn’t believe it, but I actually miss the barbecue you make!"
Qiong Qi was as carefree as ever, always carrying an air of nonchalance. He ostentatiously nodded and swaggered into the City Lord Manor.
"These two are my new disciples. One is called Huo Lei and the other is Mo Ren. Take good care of them!" Qiong Qi instructed Ye Liuyun.
"You can take disciples now?" His clone instantly used his golden eyes to scrutinize their conditions.
Qiong Qi was already mid ninth realm, Huo Lei was at early eighth tier. He was also a demon transformation and Mo Ren was a late seventh realm human martial practitioner.
"You dare to look down on me! Why can’t I take in disciples? I’m the lord of a palace now!" Qiong Qi uttered disdainfully.
"Huo Lei, is he that little Qiong Qi?" The clone asked Qiong Qi through telepathy.
Qiong Qi was slightly surprised, "You’ve grown quite a lot, you can even tell he’s a beast."
"Hehe, not as much as you. You’re already in the mid ninth realm!" The clone laughed.
