Chapter 2182: Chapter 2182 Triggering the Monster
The martial experts from Ye Liuyun’s side also launched an attack, striking precisely when the protective shields of both ferries were breached.
A combined assault from twenty late-ninth-realms emitted a white light, charging towards Ling Tao and his men beside him from the aftermath of the collision.
"Attack!"
Securing his stance, Ling Tao shouted, prompting them to counterattack in unison.
They outnumbered their enemy by a few.
Yet, the tremors resulting from the violent collision of the two ferries, and the sudden gravitational pull that emerged when the protective shields disappeared, made even maintaining balance a challenge for them.
Even if some hastily made a move, it was not simultaneous, utterly incapable of withstanding this combined assault.
Including Ling Tao himself, many were bombarded, resulting in dreadful injuries.
The prows of the two ferries were entirely stuck together, impossible to separate.
Without the protective shields, the pitch-black seawater flooded into the cabins swiftly, corroding the hulls. Both ferries were sinking rapidly.
At this moment, Ye Liuyun, his twenty experts and the ferry steward have stabilized themselves and were adjusting to the Sea’s gravitational pull.
Him and his clone were lifted by two of the experts, soaring into the sky together.
Even at this point, they didn’t forget to mark Slaving Seals on the experts on the other side, seizing the opportunity to subjugate two persons.
As soon as they were under his control, they suddenly turned against their comrades, injuring the experts around them.
The others by Ye Liuyun’s side also rushed forward, launching an attack on the remaining enemy forces.
In the Sea, even without injuries, one must exert full strength to resist the suction force. Once injured, the fate of sinking was almost the only choice.
Some wounded warriors fell directly into the sea. A few more barely held on but kept dropping down.
On the opposing ferry, only three warriors managed to escape in the end, darting towards the shore at a lightning pace.
The clone fired three rays of white light, one by one taking out these three as well.
By then, the two colliding ferries had sunk together below the sea surface. Among the experts left hanging in mid-air above the sea surface, besides them, there were no other opponents.
Only then did Ye Liuyun take out a shrunken ordinary ferry and handed it to the steward to enlarge and float on the sea surface, letting everyone board this ferry.
"So the master was prepared all along! That scared me to death!" the setward still pounded his chest in lingering fear.
He was worrying about whether he could make it to the shore.
Unexpectedly, Ye Liuyun had a backup. Though it was an ordinary ferry, at this location, it was already enough to ensure their safety.
However, Ye Liuyun suddenly stared at the seabed and urged, "There’s a monster at the bottom of the sea, hurry up and activate the protection shield. Retreat at full speed!"
"Huh?"
The steward yelled out, immediately controlled the ferry to activate the protective shield, then took over the helm himself and asked Ye Liuyun to arrange someone to replenish the crystals.
He immediately sent someone to carry out the orders, and their ferry slowly started.
At this moment, the sea’s surface churned with waves, and a giant hand of a monster stretched out from the water.
It was disassembling the two ferries that had crashed into each other, pulling the two apart. Then it extended its tentacles, searching the bodies of the dead warriors for food.
The creature’s other tentacles had ensnared several bodies and their virtuoso, tossing them into its mouth.
Fortunately, these attractions provided Ye Liuyun and his group a chance to start the ferry.
Presumably, the ripple of movements here had attracted it. From the distant sea, more tentacles protruded, likely belonging to creatures rushing towards this direction.
“Hurry!”
Ye Liuyun urged the steward.
The steward had no time for anything else; as long as there was an energy supply and a control direction, it was enough. The ferry gradually picked up speed, sailing away from the area.
“Faster, it seems like they’re chasing us!”
Ye Liuyun was continuously observing the sea’s movements. He noticed several creatures congregating around the site of the sunken ship. Then he saw a tentacle suddenly appear behind them.
“Ah! We’re already at full speed!” The steward was also incredibly alarmed.
“This ordinary ferry is much slower compared to the last one!”
Left with no choice, Ye Liuyun had to use the Jiuyou Song hoping the monsters wouldn’t continue following them.
But they only hesitated for a moment, then burst out of the sea, propelling itself towards them with multiple tentacles paddling the water at a high speed.
In desperation, he released his clone, emitting a beam of white light that hit the monster’s head squarely.
“Roar!”
Even though it was hit by the white light, it still let out a sharp scream from its mouth.
Monsters in the distance heard the commotion and turned their attention in this direction.
Upon seeing that it had stopped breathing, Ye Liuyun and his clone used Hyper Hop to move it into their spatial world, preparing to study it in depth at a later time.
The other monsters, however, unleashed shrill screeches as they pursued their ship.
The steward was so terrified by this sight that he slumped next to the ship’s rudder.
Provoking these creatures would undoubtedly lead to unpleasant consequences.
"Master, we should abandon the ship and flee!" He quickly suggested to Ye Liuyun.
"Let’s wait and see!" He merely instructed his clone to prepare for an attack, not yet planning to abandon the ship.
These monsters were no slower in the water than in the air. Now, he could detect them underwater because the water surface would ripple, revealing their locations below.
At this moment, his clone fired another beam of white light, killing the closest underwater monster.
Immediately he used the Multipurpose Cauldron to replenish his advance energy.
On seeing this, the remaining monsters suddenly slowed down, apparently wary of Ye Liuyun’s white light, and chose not to approach, only cautiously trailing from a distance.
By now, they could see the land from afar on the ship. If they could persevere for just another hour or two, they would be able to make landfall.
Ye Liuyun and his clone didn’t dare relax. He used his Golden Phantom Eyes to keep an eye on the distant monsters, while his clone monitored the water surrounding the ship.
Suddenly, the clone fired another beam of white light, aiming at the bottom of the water.
"Roar!"
From beneath the water came a piercing shriek, as a monster with a gaping hole in its head darted out from the depths.
Even though the beast was dead, one of its tentacles threatened to slam down on the ferry. If struck, it could break through the protective shield.
Ye Liuyun quickly performed a Hyper Hop, storing the beast directly into his Spatial World, thus sparing the ferry from its attack.
However, observing this, other monsters in the distance let out sharp screams of their own. Two on the water’s surface and two below it, they all charged the ferry simultaneously.
"See if you can handle these things!"
Ye Liuyun summoned Devil-sealing Stele and Devil Vine for help.
The Vine tested the seawater, but couldn’t resist its corrosive effects. Therefore, it could only extend to block the attacks from the water’s surface.
The Stele, on the other hand, was crushing down on a monster underwater, not daring to fully submerge. Due to the distance barrier, it could only just about control that beast, slowly siphoning off its energy.
That monster was clever enough to instantly sunk lower, trying to evade the control. However, the Stele persistently tracked it, moving across the water’s surface, preventing it from nearing the ferry.
