When Li Jian arrived to give the invitation to Chen Feng, he was disappointed that he wasn’t able to meet him.
He had planned to flatter Chen Feng to win his favour, in the hopes that he might put in a good word for him with Ye Liuyun.
He felt even more strongly that he ought to treat Chen Fengmuch better after seeing what Chen Feng had given him.
Azure had casually found some seventh-level Elixirs and gave it to him. Receiving it, Li Jian immediately regarded Chen Feng as if he was his saviour.
The best elixir he normally took was only sixth-level. But Chen Feng had given him dozens of seventh-level elixirs.
Moreover, maids and a seventh-level beast guarded Ye Liuyun’s place, so he felt that Chen Feng must be a person of high importance.
"he must be a greatly capable commander under his master. Or else, his Bloodline test wouldn’t result in white level." To himself, he thought.
Those elixirs were merely some inferior-grade material created by Lin Luoyi’s practice. Knowing his status and level, Azure naturally wouldn’t give him anything too good.
No sooner after Li Jian left, another young man came looking for Chen Feng.
"Excuse me, is Chen Feng here?" The young man politely inquired from the outside courtyard.
"Roar!" The Liger gave a low growl as a warning.
The young man was startled, not expecting to see such a beast in Chen Feng’s place.
Azure ran out of the house to question him.
"Who are you? Why are you here?"
"This young lad is not someone ordinary! There are maids and feral beasts in his residence!" The young man thought to himself.
But he replied to her in a serious tone. "The sacred disciple, Feng Chen, wishes to invite Chen Feng for a drink. Could you please help inform him?"
Azure, having served at Scarlet Cardinal House before, was quite experienced in receiving and hosting guests.
Through his slight change in demeanour, she knew that this man might have an ulterior motive.
However, since he is a sacred disciple, she couldn’t ignore him and invited Feng Chen into the living room first.
"Please wait a moment, Sacred disciple. The master is in his meditation, I’ll go get him." After settling Feng Chen, Azure went to report to Ye Liuyun in his room.
Ye Liuyun promptly emerged from inside the Xuankong Stone.
"What do you think of this person?" Ye Liuyun asked Azure.
"He seems like the deceitful type, sweet on the tongue but wicked at heart! Master, don’t be fooled by his appearance! He is far more difficult to handle than that fool, Li Jian!" Azure warned Ye Liuyun.
Ye Liuyun smiled, keeping her words in mind, he walked with Azure to the living room.
The reason for having Qingyan receive visitors was also to let her study the guests.
"I’m Chen Feng, a new disciple in Northsky Sect. Please pardon my rudeness for not having the chance to pay my respects to you!"
Ye Liuyun greeted Feng Chen warmly as he walked in with a friendly manner.
The title of sacred disciple not only implied strong power but also authority, which allowed him to deal with other disciples. His status was even higher than that of a normal Elder.
"Please, ignore the pleasantries. We are all fellow disciples here, no need for the formalitiesl. I’m just passing by and thought to drop in, sorry for disturbing your cultivation!" Feng Chen stood up and replied, following with some pleasantries.
"No disturbance at all. I’m honoured to have your visitation!"
Ye Liuyun politely responded. After he invited the sacred disciple to have a seat, he ordered Azure to prepare some tea for them.
The two of them chatted casually for a moment before Feng Chen finally got to the point, "Murong Tian is planning to hold a gathering soon, have you received your invitation?"
"I did just a moment ago. It was delivered by the sacred disciple, Li Jian! Did you come because of this?" Ye Liuyun inquired.
Feng Chen sighed before he replied to Ye Liuyun, "Alas! You’ve just arrived at Northsky Sect. It’s no wonder you are not familiar with the situation here."
"Murong Tian rules the academy with absolute authority, dominating all of the students. I suspected that he invited you to the gathering to show his dominance before forcing you to become one of his followers."
Ye Liuyun asked, "Isn’t it not our job as common disciples to serve the sacred disciple?" feigning a lack of understanding.
Ye Liuyun reasoned that if Murong Tian truly ruled the Sect with an ironclad, he would not put up with a lesser person like Feng Chen.
Yet, Feng Chen had always been seated firmly as the second sacred disciple. This indicates that either Feng Chen had a strong backing that Murong Tian dared not touch, or that Feng Chen was also one of Murong Tian’s men.
Regarding what Li Jian mentioned about Feng Chen’s opposition to Murong Tian, Ye Liuyun thought that after meeting him, Feng Chen did not appear to be a stubborn man as he said.
He definitely would not be someone who would cause a direct conflict with the first sacred disciple. Even if he wanted to take action against Murong Tian, he would choose to bide his time, waiting for a fatal blow.
He didn’t know Ye Liuyun well, so he wouldn’t have come to him so blatantly to cause conflict.
Therefore, when Ye Liuyun spoke with him, he was more cautious not to reveal too much of his opposition to the first sacred disciple.
"You may not be aware of that just yet! Murong Tian is a cunning and vicious person. If a follower defies him, they will suffer severe consequences. For small infractions, cutting off limbs, and for serious offences, they lost everything. The whole Northsky Sect is aware of this. With my status, I can probably withstand him to a certain extent..."
Feng Chen began to speak badly about Murong Tian while promoting himself, his ultimate intention was nothing more than to pull Ye Liuyun into his side.
At this point, Ye Liuyun used the Slaving Seal to inquire Li Jian about Feng Chen’s background and previous experiences.
"He’s the beloved grandson of the Eastern Royal Management’s chancellor! This is the reason why Murong Tian doesn’t dare to mess with him lightly," Li Jian responded.
"Are there any people who attach themselves to him, joining together against Murong Tian?" Ye Liuyun continued to probe.

He further advises Ye Liuyun, "Listen to my advice, do not involve yourself with him. Within the Northsky Sect, only siding with Murong Tian is the safest!”
Upon hearing this, an idea came to Ye Liuyun.
Feng Chen, a sacred disciple more useless than Li Jian. Perhaps, he was already under the allegiance of Murong Tian. On the surface, he appeared to stand against Murong Tian, but in reality, Murong Tian was using Feng Chen to lure out all his enemies.
Ye Liuyun, having realized this, quietly watched as Feng Chen put up his act.
Feng Chen spoke with passion and even preached a bunch of philosophies to Ye Liuyun.
But Ye Liuyun felt that his acting skills were not nearly as good as Lei Ming’s. When he was ranting on about life philosophy, it wasn’t by an internal emotional outburst but just changes in his tone to make it sound passionate.
His deceitfulness could be convincing to a young person without much life experience.
"What do you think? Do you want to join us to confront Murong Tian?" Feng Chen eventually asked Ye Liuyun again.
"Hearing is believing, seeing is knowing. I will wait until I meet Murong Tian before I decide!" Ye Liuyun rejected him.
Sure enough, there was no flash of disappointment in Feng Chen’s eyes.
