Lin Luoyi really held grudges enough to instantly remember Ye Liuyun.

Mu Lianqing was eager to please and immediately agreed to this.
"Hmph, a country bumpkin from the frontier battlefield dares to go against me!"
Mu Lianqing sneered, gesturing to one of his martial practitioner to guard outside the restaurant where Ye Liuyun and Lin Xiyao were dining.
"Lin Xiyao is my key to become an alchemy alchemy apprentice. You must not harm her, but you can kill Ye Liuyun in front of her as a warning!"
"Yes, sir!" The martial practitioner agreed and immediately went to make his move.
Meanwhile, Ye Liuyun was also contemplating how to deal with Mu Lianqing.
Everything he did and spoke were under the surveillance of Prince Liang back in the Liang Regalty.
Since they were now under Emperor Nanfu’s territory, everything would be under his control. There would definitely be a risk of having himself exposed if he were to take action in or out of the palace.
"Is there a formation in the Hall that prevents Divine Sense detection?" Ye Liuyun suddenly asked Lin Xiyao.
"Of course there is! Why are you asking?"
"Nothing, I just suddenly feel like having some barbecue. How about we take some drinks back, and I will grill the meat for you while we chat?" Ye Liuyun suggested.
He guessed that if he stayed in Lin Xiyao’s place for a night, Mu Lianqing would definitely come to check the situation, and that was when he could take action.
"Sounds good! I’ve been wanting to try the barbecue you make. Honestly, it’s not any worse than this restaurant!" Lin Xiyao didn’t think much of it, she ordered some more drinks and paid the bill, and then left with Ye Liuyun back to the Alliance.
Ye Liuyun’s Divine Sense had already noticed that the martial practitioner outside had been replaced. Three of them in total - two in the late fourth-tier and another in early fifth-tier.
The mastery he had shown was only the middle fourth-tier. With this arrangement, the attack could be foolproof.
He was still thinking about how to make himself appear more embarrassed, pretending to be injured and escaping back to the Alliance.
This way, if the Emperor were observing the situation in the city, he would believe that Mu Lianqing could take down Ye Liuyun, and thereby not interfere.
Before leaving, he prepared a common fifth-tier war blade for himself. He wore no armor, planning to face the onslaught with simply his bare body.
He even chose something suitable to wear for defence, fearing that the martial practitioners outside would launch divine soul attacks on him.
Once ready, Ye Liuyun and Lin Xiyao left the place together.
Ye Liuyun had to pretend like he didn’t know anything, chatting and walking along with Lin Xiyao.
As they were talking, a martial practitioner in disguise suddenly charged towards Ye Liuyun with a knife.
"Ah!"
Lin Xiyao screamed, too startled to react.
Ye Liuyun reacted swiftly, drawing his blade to meet the attack. He couldn’t simply stand there even though he had to pretend to be in an awkward situation.
Meanwhile, another late-fourth level martial practitioner emerged, faking an attack on Lin Xiyao to cut her off from Ye Liuyun.
And yet, Ye Liuyun only took one stroke to kill the martial practitioner with his sword intention.
This frightened the other one attacking Lin Xiyao, and he quickly swung his hand to strike her away before moving his target on Ye Liuyun.
Ye Liuyun hadn’t expected that the martial practitioner was a blade cultivator, who couldn’t even lift his blade in front of him. He had preset the intensity of his sword intention to accommodate to the fifth-level practitioner’s attack.
"Leave him to me, you deal with that woman!"
The fifth-level martial practitioner dashed out from his hide, brandishing a sword fatally aimed at Ye Liuyun.
His sword will may not be as strong as that of Ye Liuyun, but his Genuine Energy is undoubtedly robust. Ye Liuyun found it challenging to battle using his preset Sword Intention.
"That’s more like it!" Ye Liuyun silently thought.
Suddenly, the martial artist launched a Divine Soul attack, aiming to finish the fight quickly.
But it was blocked by Defensive Artifact of Ye Liuyun, leaving him no choice but to press on with his offense.
Ye Liuyun pretended to cover Lin Xiyao while blocking the fourth-tier practitioner, and helped her escape towards the Alliance.
During his withdrawal, he was hit twice by the fifth-level and was struck once by the other.
Despite coughing up blood, he tried his best to control his body from recovering too quickly.
"This is too hard!" Ye Liuyun lamented in his heart, carrying his injuries while escorting Lin Xiyao to safety.
Seeing Ye Liuyun protecting her while bearing heavy injuries, Lin Xiyao wanted to charge at the masked men, but he pulled her away.
"Stop getting in the way. I can only escape when you do. Are you trying to throw your life away?" Ye Liuyun scolded, and then she speeded up her pace with tears in her eyes.
Those two martial artists didn’t even chase after her. They merely focused on attacking Ye Liuyun.
Ye Liuyun made immediate use of his Nine Dragons Landscape Cauldron as a shield, resisting the attacks while retreating as fast as he could.
Thankfully, the Alliance wasn’t far. After Lin Xiyao made it back first, she cried for other alchemists’ help. Only then did they reluctantly retreat.
Greatly embarrassed, Ye Liuyun was helped back to her place by Lin Xiyao.
