Chapter 1899: Chapter 1899 Perfect Understanding
"You’re an alchemist?" exclaimed Zhao Mingcheng in surprise.
"I can only concoct Fifth Grade Elixirs, and I haven’t obtained the qualification of a formal Alchemist yet," Ye Liuyun replied.
"But you qualify as a Fifth Grade Alchemist! You must be popular in locations away from the central region!" Zhao Mingcheng exclaimed.
"Are you from the central region?" Ye Liuyun quickly asked.
Before this, they had hardly discussed private matters.
Ye Liuyun was intrigued because, based on Zhao Mingcheng’s comments, it appeared that she was experienced with the central region.
"Of course! Because our central region is different from other regions, the major clans’ direct descendants are dispatched to the foreign race battlefields for experience."
"And after gaining experience from the basic battlefield, they will be sent to the advanced battlefield. That’s why the martial practitioners who came from the central region are much stronger than the others," Zhao Mingcheng continued to explain to Ye Liuyun.
"If you ever travel to the central region, you’re welcome to be my guest at Zhao’s mansion in Eremite City," she extended an invitation to Ye Liuyun.
Ye Liuyun instantly searched for Eremite City on his Ocean of Consciousness map. He soon found out that the location was situated to the south of the central region.
"So, your family is a major clan?” Ye Liuyun asked again.
"I wouldn’t call our family a major clan! The major clans in the central region are way too scary. Our family are doing reasonably well locally," explained Zhao Mingcheng.
Ye Liuyun nodded and didn’t ask any further.
Knowing well about the stronger martial practitioners of the central region, he wasn’t planning to venture there anytime soon. So he didn’t feel the need to ask more about it.
"And you? Which region are you from?" Zhao Mingcheng asked Ye Liuyun in return.
"I come from the South, currently occupying a spot in the Lin family. I don’t belong to any known clan." Ye Liuyun didn’t share any of his information.
Upon hearing Ye Liuyun’s answer, Zhao Mingcheng reckoned that he was a martial practitioner without a substantial background. She then suggested, "With such strength, why not come with me and return to the Zhao family? Our family will foster you!"
However, Ye Liuyun laughed and shook his head, "I’m too lazy for that. I don’t like to be controlled by anyone else."
Zhao Mingcheng looked at Ye Liuyun perplexedly but, after some consideration, she agreed, "That’s true. You’re capable of obtaining resources by yourself. As long as there’s no resource shortage, a martial practitioner can cultivate anywhere."
"However, if you ever happen to pass by my home, I hope you can visit so I can exhibit the courtesy of a host!"
"Sure!" Ye Liuyun casually agreed, taking it as a polite conversation.
After eating and drinking to their hearts’ content, they didn’t stay at the place overnight. Instead, they set out on their journey immediately.
As they progressed, the martial practitioners they faced grew in size where groups of more than ten were deemed diminutive.
In the beginning, both Ye Liuyun and Zhao Mingcheng would ambush a few martial practitioners before getting into a brawl.
Then, they started charging directly at them. So that they could train their physical strength.
Their clothing was reduced to tatters and they would be covered in injuries every day. Currently, the clothes they donned were pilfered from fallen martial practitioners.
Even Zhao Mingcheng had switched to a male martial practitioner’s clothing.
However, despite the strenuous training, their physical strength had increased significantly.
Ye Liuyun felt as if his body had turned into a slab of steel. Even if he were to be attacked, it was not easy for him to be hurt internally.
His objective now was to train this iron slab-like body of his as stiff and resilient as possible.
Zhao Mingcheng was deeply grateful to Ye Liuyun. If it wasn’t for him, she wouldn’t have gained so much. Without his guidance, it would have taken her years to get through this secret realm on her own.
In addition to her improving physical strength, she had also accumulated ample resources. Even after sharing them with Ye Liuyun, she managed to collect over three hundred elixirs and over sixty Interspatial Rings. It was quite a bountiful harvest.
She has therefore grown to trust Ye Liuyun more since the incident with the Indestructible Vajra. Ever since then, she never again disregarded Ye Liuyun’s instruction.
Over time, their partnership only grew stronger. It would only take a glance or gesture to understand each other’s intentions.
However, their notoriety didn’t spread far because they left almost no survivors in their fight and had been keeping a low profile without recruiting any followers.
Whenever Ye Liuyun met a martial practitioner who surrendered, he would first ask about the distance to the battlefield before finishing them off.
After a few encounters, he managed to pinpoint a relatively accurate location of the battlefield.
"We have less than a month’s journey to reach the battlefield. But it feels like there’s still a lot of room for physical strength improvement!"
Ye Liuyun suddenly felt reluctant to leave this secret realm too soon. The environment in this place was truly conducive to body training. Other forms of power were unnecessary here.
Usually, his body training wouldn’t yield the same results as it did in this environment, because he couldn’t completely rule out influences of other powers.
Moreover, the dangers and intensity of the battles improved his close-combat skills, and even his reaction improved significantly, as well as his psychological quality in enemy confrontations.
"You decide. I’ll listen to you. If you go, I’ll follow. If you fight, I’ll fight alongside you," Zhao Mingcheng claimed.
Despite having made significant progress herself, she would never dare to remain here alone.
She would only feel at ease while she was with Ye Liuyun.
Sometimes she questioned if her image was too negative to pique Ye Liuyun’s interest. After all, Ye Liuyun had never expressed any inappropriate feelings towards her.
She felt safer in this way, of course, but it also piqued her interest in Ye Liuyun.
When she spoke with Ye Liuyun, she discovered that he did indeed have women in his life, and not just one. However, Ye Liuyun showed no interest in her, making her feel insecure about her appearance.
"Okay then. We’ll just wander around this area and practice for a few more days," Ye Liuyun decided.
The martial practitioners here were the richest in the secret realms. Going forward, the number of martial practitioners they encounter will only decrease, but their strength would improve.
Ye Liuyun reasoned that he could train here for a while, build a solid foundation, and then continue to tackle the journey ahead.
Following this, Ye Liuyun and Zhao Mingcheng started strolling around seeking targets to assault.
One day, they came across a group of roughly thirty martial practitioners and charged into battle.
Just as things were heating up, the Dragon Lady rushed out and assisted Ye Liuyun and Zhao Mingcheng in defeating those martial practitioners.
The Dragon Lady also appeared to be donning men’s attire, likely stolen.
Furthermore, throughout the battle, Ye Liuyun realised that the Dragon Lady’s physical strength had improved significantly.
Even though she lacked an indestructible body, when swords and spears struck her, they did not inflict serious injuries. At most, they left minor scratches.
The weapon in the Dragon Lady’s hand was a spear shaft with the spearhead removed, which she used as a club.
After the fight, Ye Liuyun asked the Dragon Lady about her journey.
"How are you doing? Have you suffered a lot? Have you been bullied?" Ye Liuyun asked without waiting for her reply.
The Dragon Lady hugged Ye Liuyun’s arm, thrilled.
She had been wandering alone for several days, and she had spent a long time in constant terror. In those periods, she had missed Ye Liuyun.
