Chapter 1847: Chapter 1847 Always Be Aware
Next, Ye Liuyun got his interest piqued on an archer.
The archer did not use a bow and arrow with tracking capabilities but shot arrows that could make turns.
Unfortunately, he lost. Mainly because the stage was not spacious enough to give him a chance to utilise his long-range skills. His close-combat abilities were not particularly strong.
"The prince is right. Indeed a lot of talented people here!"
As the defeated ones would be eliminated immediately, Ye Liuyun hurried over to stop the archer, fearing that he might not be able to find him after he left.
"Are you interested in leading my archers in the army? I’ll give you a fifth-level armour, bow, and arrow, and provide you Elixirs and Alora Crystals for your cultivation," Ye Liuyun got to the point straight away.
He noticed that the archer was only using a second-level Divine Weapon, guessing that he was in a lack of resources.
"Commander Ye?" The archer was taken aback. He didn’t expect Ye Liuyun to seek him out. Almost every martial practitioner here knew Ye Liuyun.
"Come on. Are you in?" Ye Liuyun urged. He was next up on the stage.
"I’m in!" The archer excitedly agreed.
"Great. Wait for me somewhere. We’ll go back together after the game!" Ye Liuyun instructed, before stepping onto the stage.
His opponent was a late-stage martial practitioner of the Third Realm. He was no match for Ye Liuyun to begin with, and considering Ye Liuyun also had a Black Panther at the early stage of the Fourth Realm, he just conceded straight away.
Ye Liuyun didn’t pay much attention to what his opponent could do. If he didn’t even have the courage to try, no matter what skills he possessed, it’d be useless.
"Commander Ye, do you wanna continue to challenge, or wait for the next round?" The host directly asked Ye Liuyun.
"I’ll continue to challenge!" To save time and avoid more trouble, Ye Liuyun decided.
"Alright then!"
The host immediately arranged for the first player, a soul cultivator to battle Ye Liuyun.
He Lianxiu became nervous at this point, as the soul cultivator, whenever he made a move, always aimed to directly kill his opponent. She was worried that Ye Liuyun would be killed by the soul cultivator.
The soul cultivator also dared not to be careless. As soon as the match began, he immediately released his Divine Soul to enter Ye Liuyun’s Ocean of Consciousness.
Ye Liuyun had already prepared himself for this. Once the golden light of Universal God Token held the soul cultivator’s Divine Soul in place, he immediately imprinted him with a Slaving Seal.
Once his Divine Soul was imprinted with the Slaving Seal, the golden light from the Universal God Token no longer covered him.
Ye Liuyun took this opportunity to search for the soul cultivator’s Divine Soul but made an unexpected discovery.
This martial practitioner turned out to be a spy that Prince Liang had arranged in advance. If Ye Liuyun had no intention of rebellion, he would continue to assist Ye Liuyun. Once Ye Liuyun showed any unusual intentions, he would report to the prince.
"If this dude was arranged by Prince Liang, then what about the others?" Ye Liuyun started to worry.
Because these people were exactly the talents he needed at that moment. It would be too much of a coincidence if they weren’t all deliberately arranged by Prince Liang.
Tong Xin should be fine, as he had already signed an equal contract with Ye Liuyun and would not harm him.
"I gotta always be aware, huh? Looks like when I go back, I’ll have to check on everyone else as well. Even if there’s no problem, we gotta sign an equal contract," Ye Liuyun thought to himself.
Then, he released the soul cultivator’s Divine Soul back to him.
"Thank you for your mercy, Commander Ye!" The soul cultivator pretended to thank Ye Liuyun.
"Okay. Wait for me down there! We’ll return to the camp together later." Ye Liuyun didn’t say much more after.
"Yes, sir!" The soul cultivator agreed, and walked out.
He Lianxiu was the most active in clapping for Ye Liuyun.
Amongst all the competitors, she was most worried about the soul cultivator and the beast-tamer martial practitioner. She didn’t think the others posed any threat to Ye Liuyun.
Ye Liuyun’s second match was against the beast-tamer martial practitioner.
At the start of the battle, the beast tamer released two feral beasts at the fourth level. One was a White Wolf, the other was a Sabertooth Tiger.
Ye Liuyun only released Black Panther to hold off the White Wolf, and then launched a Divine Soul attack on the Sabertooth Tiger, directly erasing its Divine Soul contract with the beast tamer, and imprinting the Sabertooth Tiger with his Slaving Seal.
The martial practitioner’s contract was destroyed, causing a backlash, and making him spit out a mouthful of blood. Before he could react, Ye Liuyun also placed an enslaving mark on the White Wolf.
All three feral beasts immediately attacked him. In the end, the martial practitioner was pinned under the foot of the Black Panther and had no choice but to admit defeat.
"What trick you use to make my feral beasts obey your commands?" The martial practitioner said indignantly. He still wanted to negotiate with Ye Liuyun to get his feral beasts back.
However, Ye Liuyun waved his hand and kept all three feral beasts in his Spatial World.
"If you want your beasts back, follow me back to camp. I’ll return your beasts then."
The frustrated martial practitioner had no choice but to step aside and wait for Ye Liuyun.
The next one on stage was the body-cultivating martial practitioner. As soon as the fight started, he charged straight at Ye Liuyun.
Considering the matter of the spy, Ye Liuyun did not want to waste any more time. He originally planned to physically spar with him first but lost interest after. Immediately, he launched a Divine Soul attack and searched his soul instead.
Ye Liuyun only eased down when he made sure this person was not sent by Prince Liang.
He merely threatened the martial practitioner using the force of thunder and flames, persuading him to join the camp.
"Commander Ye, I’m just a boorish body cultivator, I don’t know anything. I’m just here to win some resources back. You really believe I can serve you? What can I help with?"
The martial practitioner was forthright, posing his queries straightforwardly.
"To train the soldiers physically. If you don’t trust me, we can sign an equality contract. I won’t force you to do anything. Besides, my army is well-treated..."
"Really?" The martial practitioner’s interest was instantly piqued upon hearing the benefits Ye Liuyun spoke of.
Ye Liuyun immediately drafted an equality contract and signed it with him.
Soon after, the martial practitioner quickly left the stage and stood with others, waiting for Ye Liuyun.
The last one to step onto the stage was a sword cultivator, who looked to be in his fifties.
He let out a hearty laugh as soon as he came up, "Commander Ye, recruiting soldiers and competing at the same time? I’m a sword cultivator, I wonder if you have a suitable role for me in your army?"
This fellow was rather audacious, recommending himself immediately.
Ye Liuyun also laughed and pulled out the Demon Slayer Blade. "If your sword will can withstand one strike from me, I’ll appoint you as my deputy commander. How bout that?"
"No problem. A promise’s a promise!"
The sword cultivator was surprised, not expecting Ye Liuyun to agree so readily.
However, when Ye Liuyun made his move, the sword cultivator regretted it right away.
Ye Liuyun’s sword intention was too strong. At the sword cultivator’s skill level, he couldn’t even withstand Ye Tiandao, let alone Ye Liuyun.
With one slash, Ye Liuyun directly cleaved him in half.
Then, Ye Liuyun sheathed his sword, and urged the emcee, "Since there’s no one left, just announce the results and hand the rewards now! I have matters to settle in the army, don’t have time to waste."
"Sure, sure!" The emcee indeed didn’t dare to dilly-dally and immediately declared Ye Liuyun as the winner. Prince Liang would also choose a day for Ye Liuyun and the princess to be engaged, and then distribute the reward to everyone.
Although the few people Ye Liuyun had just subdued didn’t receive as many rewards as him, they did receive quite a bit, so the trip wasn’t in vain.
As for the martial practitioners who died in the ring, they died in vain and could only blame themselves for their lack of skill.
