Chapter 356: Chapter 238: White Robe Blocks the Path, the Vast Alliance
In addition to the 390,000 Spirit Stones obtained at the auction, Song Xianyun also took out another 10,000 from the Clan Treasure Vault for Song Changsheng, bringing the total to an even 400,000 Low-Grade Spirit Stones.
Song Changsheng then took the materials harvested from the last great battle—things like Demon Wolf pelts and bones—along with some Spirit Medicines and ores.
This was a considerable amount of resources, and large commerce associations were always eager to buy unprocessed raw materials, as it allowed them to turn a larger profit.
Demon Wolf pelts could be used for refining Magical Artifacts. Furthermore, after special processing, they could be made into talisman paper used for drawing Talismans. Talismans drawn on this type of paper could be preserved for a very long time, making them highly sought after.
As for the claws and bones, they were, of course, excellent materials for refining Magical Artifacts.
Song Changsheng knew they would be far more valuable if processed, but the sheer quantity made doing so in a short amount of time impossible.
But if he didn’t offload them quickly, a massive amount of Demon Beast Materials would inevitably flood the market once Luoxia City repelled the Beast Tide. At that point, he wouldn’t be able to get a good price...
Yuan Province was just north of Ling Province. It was a territory controlled by the Golden Crow Sect, with a Yuan Province Garrison Envoy presiding over the region.
The Wanlong Commerce Association had a branch there, hundreds of thousands of miles away from the Moon Viewing Mountain Range. Fortunately, Song Changsheng had a Flying Ship for transportation. Traveling day and night, it took him only five days to cross into Yuan Province.
Though both were in the Southwest Region, Yuan Province’s prosperity was far beyond anything Ling Province could match. Having been developed for over a thousand years under the protection of the Golden Crow Sect, its population was dense, and the Immortal Dao flourished.
Although the two sects were still at war, the Golden Crow Sect was advancing triumphantly. As such, Yuan Province, located far in the rear, remained largely unaffected. There were many cultivators coming and going.
Song Changsheng sat cross-legged on the Flying Ship with his eyes closed in meditation, mentally calculating which resources to purchase.
’The clan doesn’t need any Cultivation Heart Methods for now. Tier Three Talismans are a must. The clan’s Spirit Plant Garden also needs to be expanded, so I’ll need some rare Spirit Plants.
I also need to buy materials to repair the damaged parts of the Clan Protection Array. Hmm... and if possible, I need to buy a Green Sky White Jade Pill...’
As he tallied up the list, Song Changsheng was astonished to find that the 400,000 Spirit Stones he had were barely going to be enough.
’As expected, you can never have enough Spirit Stones.’ Song Changsheng couldn’t help but shake his head with a bitter smile. The clan needed far too much. These 400,000 Spirit Stones were just a temporary solution; they couldn’t possibly provide the Song Clan with a fundamental leap in combat power.
At this thought, Song Changsheng took a Jade Token from his Storage Bag.
He had obtained it while exploring an ancient cultivator’s abode with Zhu Yiqun, Zhuang Yuechan, and the others. It was linked to a hidden treasure of the Blood Demon Sect.
’For the Blood Demon Sect to go to such lengths to find it, this must be an immense fortune. If I could get my hands on it...’ Song Changsheng gently caressed the Jade Token, a strange light glinting in his eyes.
Just then, Song Changsheng’s expression hardened. He immediately maneuvered the Flying Ship into a violent roll. An instant later, a razor-sharp streak of Sword Qi shot past the spot where the ship had just been.
"What coward dares launch a sneak attack!" Song Changsheng shot to his feet, the pitch-black Celestial Measuring Ruler appearing in his hand. He stared vigilantly in the direction the Sword Qi had come from.
He had only shouted it out of reflex, not actually expecting the attacker to reveal themselves. To his surprise, no sooner had the words left his mouth than a streak of Sword Light swept in from the distance, blocking the Flying Ship’s path. It revealed a graceful man dressed in white, holding a cyan blade.
The man was tall and powerfully built. His thick eyebrows slanted upward toward his temples, and he looked down on Song Changsheng with eyes full of arrogance.
’Foundation Establishment Great Perfection.’ The man wasn’t hiding his aura, so Song Changsheng instantly gauged his cultivation level.
"And who might you be?" Song Changsheng asked, standing tall on the Flying Ship. A sense of gravity settled over him; the man’s aura was powerful, unlike that of any ordinary cultivator.
"I hear you’re the one who killed a Steward from my Vast Alliance," the man said, ignoring the question and posing one of his own.
’The Vast Alliance.’ Song Changsheng’s eyes narrowed. He was carrying a fortune and had been extremely cautious. No one besides a few Elders knew he had left the clan, yet this man had managed to track him down with pinpoint accuracy.
This meant someone had been watching him in secret, and he hadn’t even noticed.
"You have yet to answer my question." The man’s gaze was as cold and sharp as a sword ready to be drawn.
"What if I am? And what if I’m not?" Song Changsheng replied coolly.
"If you are not, you will die. If you are, you might have a sliver of a chance to live." The man’s tone was placid, as if he were discussing some trivial matter.
"Heh. My head is right here. If you’re so capable, come and take it." Song Changsheng almost laughed at the man’s confidence, completely unfazed by his threat. Although his opponent’s cultivation was a tier higher, it was still unclear who would emerge victorious if they actually fought.
A flash of killing intent appeared in the man’s eyes. He slowly raised his Cyan Blade as an indescribable pressure gathered around him, radiating a boundless sharpness.
SWOOSH!
All Song Changsheng saw was a blur, and the man in white vanished.
Alarm bells screamed in his mind. He quickly put the Flying Ship into his Storage Bag, then shot into the sky with Sword Control, vanishing into the clouds.
HUMMM—
Suddenly, the man in white appeared right above him. The piercing Sword Qi was so intense it made Song Changsheng’s hair stand on end.
