Chapter 245: Chapter 179: The South is Too Quiet

Of all the arrays in the world, there was a bewildering variety, but the most widely used were undoubtedly arrays of slaughter.

When Song Changsheng was just starting out, he explored an ancient grotto with Zhu Yiqun and several others. The grotto had belonged to Hee Yunxuan of the Array Dao Academy.

Although the Array Dao legacy he left behind was not from the Array Dao Academy—hailed as the Holy Land for Array Masters—it possessed many distinctive qualities. It not only allowed Song Changsheng’s understanding of the Array Dao to advance by leaps and bounds, but also enabled him to master many profound arrays. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

Recorded within this legacy was an array of slaughter that Hee Yunxuan had named the Inconstant Killing Array. In terms of rank, it was a genuine Tier Three Array with immense killing power, perfectly matching Song Changsheng’s expectations.

But he had another important reason for choosing this array.

According to Hee Yunxuan’s account, the Array Dao Academy possessed a Secret Realm that was, in fact, an Ancient Battlefield where many Great Powers had once perished.

He had stumbled upon the Inconstant Killing Array on a stone tablet in a perilous part of that battlefield. A single glance had been enough to utterly captivate him, and he found himself unable to look away.

To his great regret, however, the stone tablet was broken. The Array Patterns inscribed on it were incomplete. Hee Yunxuan meditated before the broken tablet for six months before finally conceiving the Inconstant Killing Array.

Later, he researched the tablet in the Array Dao Academy’s Scripture Pavilion and discovered it was likely connected to a legendary Great Power of the Array Dao.

This Great Power had once created an unrivaled array named the Ten Absolutes Killing Array, hailed as the greatest killing array of all time.

The stone tablet had almost certainly contained the long-lost Ten Absolutes Killing Array. Unfortunately, Hee Yunxuan had only obtained a small fragment of it; the rest had either been destroyed or scattered throughout that Small World.

Driven by personal ambition, he kept this discovery a secret, confiding only in his beloved, Guu Yiyi. He planned for them to search for the remaining tablet fragments together the next time the Small World opened.

Unfortunately, the Small World only opened once every hundred years. Before he could wait for it to open a second time, he succumbed to grievous injuries and passed away, a fact that became the greatest regret of his life.

Since the Ten Absolutes Killing Array reigned supreme, the power of its incomplete derivative, the Inconstant Killing Array, was naturally not to be underestimated.

Most importantly, Song Changsheng wanted to try and complete the missing parts of the Inconstant Killing Array.

With his current mastery of the Array Dao, this was undoubtedly a fool’s dream. However, the advantage of Original Array Patterns was their ability to evolve on their own. If Song Changsheng could influence this process—forget about perfectly replicating the Ten Absolutes Killing Array—even a simplified version would be enough for him to run rampant in the Daqi Cultivation World.

At this thought, Song Changsheng’s heart burned with excitement.

Ideas were meant to be acted upon. Following the Array Map left by Hee Yunxuan, the Original Array Patterns inscribed within Song Changsheng’s body rapidly began transforming into the Inconstant Killing Array.

The transformation was complete in just a single day and night.

’As expected of an array derived from the Ten Absolutes Killing Array. It truly is profound. I should find a place to test its power.’

The Inconstant Killing Array was originally at the Tier Three Level, but since Song Changsheng had evolved it from Original Array Patterns, he had no idea just how powerful it would actually be.

He scanned his surroundings, then descended via Sword Control, finding a nondescript hill not far from Vast Mist Peak.

Song Changsheng cleared his mind and, for the first time, activated the Inconstant Killing Array within his body. In the next instant, every last drop of Spiritual Power in his Dantian and Meridians was siphoned away.

The speed of the drain left him momentarily dazed.

Before he could even react, a blast of gray Sword Qi erupted from his Shenque Acupoint.

BOOM—

The hill before him was sheared clean in half. Its momentum undiminished, the Sword Qi slammed into another hill in the distance, carving out a massive fissure and leaving the peak teetering on the verge of collapse.

Song Changsheng had no time to marvel at the attack’s incredible power. The instant the gray Sword Qi was unleashed, it consumed every trace of his Spiritual Power, causing him to collapse to the ground.

This sudden turn of events left Song Changsheng stunned. He had never imagined that a single activation of the Inconstant Killing Array would drain him of all his Spiritual Power.

After that single strike, he was left completely defenseless. In his current state, even a mere Qi Cultivator could have easily taken his life.

An overwhelming sense of danger washed over Song Changsheng. He forced himself to his feet, warily scanning his surroundings. The Moon Viewing Mountain Range was crawling with Demon Beasts; if one happened upon him now, he would be utterly helpless.

Fortunately, he hadn’t strayed too far from Vast Mist Peak. The tremendous noise he had just created had already alerted his clan members. A rainbow-hued streak of light shot down from the mountain and landed before him.

"Young Clan Leader, what happened to you?" Song Yushi cried out, her hand flying to her mouth in shock as she saw Song Changsheng’s paper-white face. She hurried over to support him.

Song Changsheng hadn’t expected Song Yushi to be the first to arrive. He forced a smile and waved his hand, declining her help. "Don’t worry, Sister Yushi. I just overexerted myself. I’ll be fine once I’ve had a moment to recover."

But he was hardly in a convincing state. Song Yushi chided gently, "Still trying to act tough in your condition? I’m helping you over there to rest."

Song Changsheng didn’t argue further. After a word of thanks, he allowed Song Yushi to help him to a nearby rock, where he sat down.

He then took out a bright yellow gourd.

Ever since the Spirit-Slaying Gourd had fused with the Earth Core Cold Flame, it was no longer suitable for holding wine. So, he had taken the time to specially refine this new gourd for that purpose.
