Chapter 1095: Chapter 1094: Conflict
Outside Lingyue Island.
Above the vast waters, two figures continued to hover in the area, occasionally glancing towards the secret realm where Lingyue Island lay, their eyes revealing a somber intent.
These two figures were none other than the gray-robed elder and the God-catchers.
"I wonder if that boy is truly dead."
The gray-robed elder’s eyes flickered, hesitating slightly.
Although logically Ling Chen should have already died at the hands of that woman in white, they hadn’t witnessed Ling Chen’s death, so they couldn’t be sure whether he was truly dead or not.
"Relax, that woman in white is extraordinarily powerful. In her hands, Ling Chen won’t have any chance of survival, besides, she had no reason to spare the boy."
The God-catcher said beside him.
He naturally hoped to settle this matter quickly and then have the Huangfu Clan deliver the benefits promised to him.
"No, we must confirm his corpse."
The gray-robed elder remained uneasy; Ling Chen posed too great a threat. If carelessly allowed to revive, it would spell big trouble.
Upon hearing these words, the God-catcher couldn’t help but frown, saying, "Lingyue Island is an elusive sect filled with experts. Without an opportunity like last time, we simply can’t infiltrate it."
"There’s no such thing as an impenetrable wall."
A flicker of light gleamed in the gray-robed elder’s eyes. "With a bit of effort, we can find out the boy’s whereabouts. God-catcher, surely you wouldn’t want to leave such a loose end here; if that boy is not dead, it won’t just be the Huangfu Clan; you, God-catcher, will be in trouble too."
Upon hearing this, the God-catcher’s face fell. The gray-robed elder was right; they had nearly driven Ling Chen to a dead end together. If Ling Chen were still alive, he would definitely come for them.
"Alright, then we’ll stay a few more days."
The God-catcher finally nodded; without seeing Ling Chen’s corpse, he couldn’t truly be at ease.
Swish!
At that, the two figures suddenly vanished into mid-air.
...
Deep within Lingyue Island.
After traversing several mountain peaks, Ling Chen and his companions were greeted by an endless array of colorful mountains, filled with brightly-colored flowers and grasses, full of spirituality. From afar, it looked like a sea of flowers, with the light breeze stirring the flamboyant petals, dancing in the sky resembling a fairyland.
At the edge of their view was a majestic mountain range enveloped in mist.
Among them, rare trees and plants from outside were nestled in, with perilous peaks mostly adorned with various buildings.
Faintly, charming silhouettes and the laughter of young girls could be seen.
"Hey, isn’t that Senior Sister Lin Wan? Who’s that guy beside her? Why does he look so unfamiliar?"
A female disciple noticed Ling Chen next to Lin Wan and curiously asked.
"I don’t know, perhaps a rookie disciple."
Another female disciple shook her head and replied.
"Rookie disciple? This place is reserved for core disciples of Lingyue Island. What is Senior Sister Lin Wan doing bringing a rookie disciple here unless he was granted core disciple status upon recently entering the sect?"
"That’s impossible. Even direct lineral descendants from the Saint Family can’t enjoy such special treatment."
All gazes were filled with astonishment as they looked at Ling Chen. They were puzzled about Lin Wan’s intentions—how could a newcomer have the qualifications to enter here?
In the center of the mountain range, a towering peak rose, broad and adorned with various buildings standing atop. The buildings consisted entirely of independent courtyards, varying in size and each unique.
Lin Wan and Ling Chen landed on that mountain peak, where she glanced at Ling Chen before saying, "Here is the residence for core disciples, Lingyun Mountain. Originally, you had no qualification to reside here, but since granted special permission by the Second Elder, you may live here from now on."
"Thank you."
Ling Chen nodded; since it was a residence for core disciples, it was the best lodging Lingyue Island offered to its disciples. Shen Bingxin had indeed thoughtfully arranged for him to stay here.
"Your lodgings are at this Cuiyun Residence. The disciple living here recently got promoted to Deacon, which made this place vacant."
Lin Wan said.
Following her gaze, Ling Chen saw a verdant courtyard, brimming with spiritual qi and vibrancy. Surrounding walls etched with ancient formation diagrams, these diagrams were used to gather spiritual qi, supplying the Cuiyun Residence constantly with the qi needed for cultivation.
This, truly, was an exceptional place to stay.
Being able to reside here, Ling Chen believed his cultivation speed could increase by at least three points.
Simultaneously, Ling Chen couldn’t help but marvel inwardly; these sect disciples’ cultivation conditions were superior indeed, superior even to those Saint Family descendants outside, with inherent advantages in setting.
No wonder even his cousin Liu Mengru sought to enter the sect of Taiqing Palace for cultivation.
Other exceptional geniuses likely have joined hidden sects for cultivation too, unbeknownst to him.
"Hold on a moment."
However, just as Ling Chen was about to move in, a cold female voice echoed from behind.
Ling Chen stopped his steps, then turned to see three elegantly dressed women slowly approaching. The speaker was a young woman of about twenty-five or twenty-six, tall with striking looks, though her delicate face held a distinct sharpness.
However, the most striking among them was not her but the stunning woman in the middle, whose skin was as white as jade, with a perfect figure that was lithe and graceful, akin to a lotus emerging from water. Even Lin Wan behind Ling Chen paled considerably in comparison.
The beautiful female disciple did not utter a word, she merely looked at Ling Chen with a proud expression; to her, this rookie disciple did not deserve her initiating a conversation.
"What do you three want?"
Knowing these three were unfriendly, Ling Chen’s attitude couldn’t much improve; he merely glanced at them, then replied coldly.
"This courtyard was favored by Senior Sister Zhou a week ago; she will soon move in here."
The sharp-faced female disciple glanced at Ling Chen, speaking with indifference.
"Oh."
Ling Chen’s reaction took the female disciple by surprise; he merely looked at the courtyard, then nodded to himself, saying, "This courtyard is quite large; housing two people shouldn’t be a problem."
Upon hearing this, the woman’s face turned dark suddenly. She didn’t know if Ling Chen was genuinely foolish or pretending to be ignorant and her gaze turned cold, "Who said Senior Sister Zhou wants to live with you? How delusional can you be, thinking so highly of yourself without a proper self-assessment."
"Watch your mouth."
Ling Chen hadn’t spoken yet when Lin Wan behind him took offense; Ling Chen was her guest, and these three shamelessly insulting Ling Chen equaled violating her dignity.
