Chapter 386: Chapter 385: Ten Orifices Cleared, Nine Remain
That morning, South Grant was awakened by the sound of birds outside the window.
She sat up, stretched lazily on the bed, and stared out the window in a daze, unable to fully return to her senses.
It took a while for her to realize it wasn’t a dream. As she got up to wash, she glanced at herself in the mirror, then slapped her face.
It was such a strange dream.
To actually dream about such a scenario.
She dreamed she went to prison, got pregnant, was later picked up by Nathan Foster, and Nathan even proposed to her. It was absolutely ridiculous.
She had clearly spent a whole year in prison before Nathan Foster got her out. How could she have such a memory?
And in the dream, she even saw that big tiger.
South Grant felt more certain that she was dreaming. A story like that was just made up in her dream.
After that, South stopped thinking about it.
From today onwards, the real training began. Langston Caldwell needed to understand her physical endurance to tailor a training regimen for her.
South’s potential was greater than he had imagined.
Yesterday, the words Langston said to South were very enlightening for her.
Indeed, Langston made a valid point. No one can protect someone else forever; being strong yourself is better than having any powerful support.
While South Grant was training, the film that Henry Grant invested in officially started shooting.
With the filming, post-production, and promotion, they were just in time to release it during the Golden Week. They were aiming for the box office champion, so the opening ceremony was especially grand.
The female lead was Christina Simmons, and the male lead was Hugo Lynch.
Both are currently popular top-tier performers. While their acting skills might not be first-rate, their popularity certainly is, so the box office success was almost guaranteed.
Meanwhile, there was no sign of movement on South’s side.
By the time Henry’s film was halfway through, news of South’s film starting a month later had already come out.
During the opening ceremony, South didn’t attend; Caleb Holt and Rosalind Sutton went instead.
However, their opening ceremony didn’t attract much attention.
Compared to the grand spectacle on Hugo and Christina’s side, theirs was far inferior. But all this was just for show; what truly mattered was the end result.
The reason South Grant didn’t attend the opening ceremony was that today was the day Nathan Foster was returning.
South went to pick up Nathan but found herself stuck in traffic; she didn’t expect the airport road to be so congested today.
Langston was driving in front. Seeing South’s anxious expression, he couldn’t help but tease her:
"In a hurry, you fly over there."
South shot him a look, "I’d love to fly. Can I actually fly? Who was it that once boasted confidently in front of me about how great he was, and how amazing the people he personally mentored were? What happened in the end? Still the same old thing?"
Langston was choked with anger; it was like playing with a hawk all his life, only to be pecked in the eye by it in the end.
After South passed that test, Langston thought he’d found a promising talent to nurture.
But after a month of training, South was like a person with nine out of ten openings blocked, essentially clueless.
Despite the teaching, she only grasped basic self-defense and merely improved her speed a bit, with no other progress as if she was naturally not suited for martial arts.
"It’s because you’re stupid."
"It’s because you can’t teach."
The two of them engaged in a stubborn back-and-forth.
At this moment, South noticed an entertainment news segment being reported on the car’s mobile TV.
