Chapter 372: Chapter 371: Fell for South Grant’s Trap
Did Phoebe Nash give you the courage?
Nathan Foster watched South Grant argue with everyone, even the person about to become her master.
Sitting across from her, Langston Caldwell finally realized the trick and immediately protested:
"You’re cheating! If I had said it was two, you’d definitely say it was a finger."
Clearly, there are multiple answers, and no matter which one he picks, it won’t work.
"You could see through my trick, so you’re not completely stupid," South Grant laughed.
Langston was so frustrated that he stuffed a dumpling into his mouth. It really was a bad start, falling into the trap of this little girl.
Langston then looked at Nathan Foster, initially planning to test her before taking her as an apprentice.
But he didn’t expect this little girl to be so bold.
"You’ve passed. You’re now my student. You can kowtow right here," Langston said, tapping the spot in front of him with his foot.
As the saying goes, "Once a teacher, always a father."
Losing to her in a wit contest wasn’t a problem; becoming her master meant he became her father.
Becoming her father would mean he became Nathan Foster’s father-in-law.
This deal wasn’t a loss at all.
Unexpectedly, South Grant wasn’t pleased. She waved her hand and said:
"No way. If you’re that dumb, acknowledging you as my master would lower my IQ."
"Wit contests have nothing to do with IQ!" Langston emphasized.
"They do."
"They don’t!"
"They do!" South Grant insisted.
Seeing the little girl arguing with him, Langston could only nod and compromise, then said:
"Fine, fine, if you say they relate, then they relate. Even if I can’t answer your riddles, I’m good at martial arts. You’re learning martial arts from me, not wit contests."
South Grant replied calmly, "Choosing a master is a cautious matter, and requires comprehensive evaluation. Clearly, your IQ doesn’t pass."
"..." Langston looked at this nonsense-talking girl, wanting to slap her. "Tell me, how can you accept me as your master?"
South Grant glanced at Langston, thought for a moment, then said, "If you want me to learn martial arts from you, that’s fine. I just won’t call you master until you can answer my riddles."
Langston thought about what South Grant said and found this method feasible.
"Alright, deal."
He didn’t believe he wouldn’t be able to answer South Grant’s riddles.
Eventually, there would be a day when she’d willingly kneel in front of him and call him dad—oops, I mean, master.
Nathan Foster watched from the side, never saying a word. Moments ago, Langston had mocked South Grant for mistaking people, and now he didn’t even realize he had fallen into her trap.
Once they left the dumpling house, Nathan Foster was ready to take South Grant to where Langston lived.
Originally, he thought Langston would ride with them, but Langston told them he wanted to walk back to digest his food, and they should drive ahead.
Sitting in the car, South Grant asked Nathan Foster, "Is the place he lives close by?"
"Neither far nor close, he lives in the suburbs."
"If he’s not taking the car, can he catch up with us later?" The suburbs aren’t close; driving there would take a while.
"Don’t worry, he’ll arrive earlier than us."
South Grant looked at Nathan Foster in surprise and asked, "Could it be that his Qinggong is impressive?"
Nathan Foster glanced at her and then said calmly:
"It’s rush hour now, and driving there means stopping at at least 50 red lights. His scooter was just outside the door. He’ll take shortcuts and arrive at least half an hour earlier than us."
