Chapter 25 - Sick Day
It was an unusually quiet morning in Kazuma and Masako's home. Kazuma, who was typically the first to dive into work, was still in bed, his light blue eyes half-closed and his face pale. He groaned softly, pulling the covers closer around him.
Masako walked into the room, her golden eyes immediately narrowing with concern when she saw him. "Dear," she said gently, sitting on the edge of the bed, "are you okay? You look awful."
Kazuma opened his eyes slightly, giving her a weak smile. "I think I caught something, sweetie. I'll be fine, though. Just need to rest for a bit."
Masako frowned, brushing a hand across his forehead. "You're burning up," she said, her tone firm. "You're not fine, and you're not working today. You're staying in bed, and I'm taking care of everything."

Kazuma tried to protest, his voice barely above a whisper. "But there's so much to do..."
"No buts," Masako interrupted, placing a finger on his lips. "You work too hard, and now you're paying for it. Just leave everything to me, dear. I've got this."
Masako quickly got to work, not just with her usual tasks but also with everything Kazuma would normally handle. She tackled the coding he had been working on, her golden eyes focused as she carefully made progress. Despite not being as experienced with coding as Kazuma, she pushed through, determined to make sure he wouldn't fall behind.
But her main priority was Kazuma himself. She popped into the bedroom every thirty minutes to check on him, her arms often full of something new—fluffy blankets, a cup of herbal tea, or a cool damp cloth to place on his forehead.
By mid-morning, she had decided to make him some homemade soup. Standing in the kitchen, Masako hummed softly to herself as she chopped vegetables and stirred the pot. She poured her heart into the dish, wanting it to be as comforting as possible. Once it was ready, she carried it to the bedroom on a tray, complete with a glass of water and a small vase holding a single flower.
"Alright, dear," she said, setting the tray on the bedside table. "Time for you to eat."
Kazuma blinked up at her, his light blue eyes tired but grateful. "You didn't have to go through all this trouble, sweetie," he murmured.
"It's not trouble," Masako said firmly, adjusting the blankets around him. "You'd do the same for me in a heartbeat. Now, sit up and eat while it's still warm."
Kazuma obeyed, though his movements were sluggish. Masako helped him hold the bowl as he sipped the soup, her golden eyes watching him carefully. "How is it?" she asked.
"It's perfect," Kazuma said, managing a small smile. "Thank you, Masako."
She beamed, leaning down to press a soft kiss to his forehead. "You're welcome, dear. Now, finish that, and then it's back to resting."
As the day went on, Masako stayed by Kazuma's side, ensuring he was as comfortable as possible. She draped a soft blanket over him, fluffing his pillows and occasionally running her fingers through his light blue hair to soothe him. Her affection was endless, from the small kisses she placed on his cheeks to the gentle way she held his hand.
"Masako," Kazuma said softly at one point, his voice barely above a whisper, "you're doing too much. You need to take care of yourself too."
Masako shook her head, her golden eyes shining with determination. "You're my priority right now, dear. Don't worry about me. Just focus on getting better."
Kazuma smiled faintly, his heart swelling with gratitude and love. "You're amazing, you know that?"
Masako grinned, brushing a strand of hair from his face. "And you're lucky to have me, so don't forget it."
By evening, Kazuma's fever had begun to break, thanks to Masako's care. She brought him one last cup of tea before settling beside him in bed, her arms wrapped around him as they lay under the blankets.
"Thank you for everything today," Kazuma murmured, his light blue eyes meeting hers. "I don't know what I'd do without you."
"You'd probably try to work through a fever and make yourself worse," Masako teased gently. "Good thing I'm here to stop you from doing something so silly."
Kazuma chuckled softly, his strength slowly returning. "You're the best, sweetie."
"And don't you forget it," Masako said with a playful wink, though her tone was full of affection.
As they drifted off to sleep, Kazuma felt a deep sense of comfort knowing that Masako was always there for him, no matter what. And Masako, watching over him with a soft smile, knew that taking care of him was the least she could do for the man who meant everything to her.
