Chapter 349: Chapter 349 : The Scarred Moon Got A Sky Letter From Her Pervert
Her lashes fluttered open. Her breath caught in her throat. "You are looking at the exact same celestial body that humans have whispered their deepest secrets to for thousands of years. It does not matter how pitch black their reality becomes or how many flawless stars are scattered across the vast sky. Desperate people will always ignore the perfect stars and choose to seek comfort from the beautifully scarred moon."
He paused as a warm and entirely genuine smile formed on his lips. A certain reflection in her eyes caught his.
"Every single time I gaze up at the moon these days, my mind immediately drifts right back to you. It is not just because your beauty easily rivals the heavenly bodies. It is because you are the only one who can effortlessly wash away all my heavy worldly burdens."
His voice softened further. "These past few weeks felt exactly like suffering through a dark lunar eclipse, because my moon was completely swallowed by angry shadows. But I always remembered that even when the moon disappears from sight, it never actually abandons the night sky."
He held her gaze. "One of the reasons I brought you to this terrifying height was so you could finally realize the massive gravity you hold in my personal orbit. You possess a completely untouchable place deep inside my soul. No matter how beautiful or crowded the rest of my sky might eventually become, my eyes will forever be instantly drawn straight to your unique light."
Astrid’s heart felt completely overwhelmed by a sudden rush of deep affection that easily overpowered and evaporated her stubborn anger.
But that lasted for only a few seconds as she realized one critical flaw in his beautiful words.
She went completely angry again and glared a hole straight through his skull while demanding a very clear answer.
"Hold on. What in the world do you mean by perfect stars and scarred moon? Did you literally just bring me all the way up into the sky to call your other women completely flawless while painting me as the only imperfect one?"
Jax let out a heavy internal sigh and deeply debated his next words. ’Should I really tease her right now by pointing out her massive list of flaws like her completely broken brain, or her overwhelming jealousy, or her constant anger, or her—’
He quickly caught himself before opening his mouth, and let his pure survival instincts take over. ’Do not let your sarcastic thoughts win right now, because if they actually do, she is one hundred percent going to drop you from this incredible height and you will suffer a ridiculously terrible death.’
So Jax completely surrendered, looking down at the fiercely pouty face of Astrid as she stubbornly waited for his answer.
But that was the exact moment when Astrid suddenly sensed a high speed projectile shooting directly toward them.
She instantly whipped her head around to check the dangerous commotion and realized a glowing fire attack had just been launched into the sky. She assumed it was aimed right at them, but quickly concluded that the mysterious attacker was absolutely terrible at their job, because the bright fireball missed their current altitude by a completely massive margin.
Both Jax and Astrid watched the glowing light travel until it finally exploded beautifully right inside the massive frame of the silver moon.
And exactly as the bright shell burst open, the real magical surprise instantly began.
The incredibly rare fire spirit leaped out of the smoke and immediately went to work executing his final grand plan. The warm golden flames playfully danced across the pitch black sky and carefully painted a breathtaking masterpiece right across the stars.
The magical fire formed beautiful glowing letters that cheerfully declared how the moon might belong to the night sky, but Astrid completely belonged to his heart.
{ HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BEAUTIFUL ASTRID. YOU ARE THE BEST THING TO EVER HAPPEN TO MY LIFE AND MY HEART BEATS EXCLUSIVELY FOR YOUR LIGHT. }
Astrid was completely stunned by the glowing words and suddenly realized she had entirely forgotten her own birthday since her brain was still halfway asleep.
Plus, she never expected something this incredibly sweet from her normally cold and completely clueless professor.
While her beautiful smile and watering eyes were currently glowing far brighter than the night sky, Jax was busy secretly throwing up a middle finger right at the tiny fire spirit before it faded away.
The flame spirit was aggressively hissing back at him, and Jax definitely did not appreciate that highly disrespectful glare.
The legendary honor and pride of the great flame monkey beast was taking a massive beating right now. This entity was literally a primordial flame spirit that historically made entire nations tremble in pure fear. But it was currently being forced to act like a cheap party trick to entertain two random teenagers.
The ancient beast was viciously cursing its human contractor in its head for bringing upon such ultimate humiliation. Meanwhile, that exact contractor was mentally cursing right back, though she was highly confused about who she should actually be mad at, since she willingly agreed to this stupid job.
Delphine was awkwardly crouching behind some cover and watching the entire ridiculous scene play out.
A few days ago, Jax had approached her and requested she execute this exact fireworks display the second the clock hit midnight.
She still had no idea why his request felt like a twisted order that she simply could not refuse. But watching the two most terrifying personalities in the entire world doing horribly twisted romantic things high up in the sky honestly just made her feel ridiculously single and slightly jealous.
Back to the floating couple. Jax gently caught Astrid by her completely stunned chin and softly turned her face away from the fading golden sky so she would look only at him.
He firmly wrapped one strong arm securely around her waist to keep them safely anchored in the freezing air, while his free hand tenderly traced the soft curve of her cheek as he prepared to deliver her final gift.
He had secretly dedicated an insane amount of time to mastering this exact moment. He had purposely neglected his own intense daily training just to flawlessly rehearse a deeply romantic gesture that he previously believed was nothing but completely useless stupidity.
