Chapter 90: 90:The Loots
Once he was back in the apartment, Reigns took a moment to look inside his soul space. Sitting comfortably on the couch, he closed his eyes.
The vast labyrinth instantly appeared before him.
He could now freely access this place whenever he wanted, entering and leaving his soul space without much difficulty.
Inside, he found all of his Splash Shooters and Dryads relaxing peacefully.
Some of the Splash Shooters bounced around lazily across the grassy fields, while the Dryads rested beneath giant trees, looking completely at ease.
"You guys are enjoying yourselves without me. How sad!"
"POP! POP!"
"DRYAD!"
"Heeee!"
The Healing Sprout immediately circled around Reigns gleefully the moment it noticed him.
The little creature floated happily through the air before rubbing affectionately against Reigns’s cheek.
Reigns couldn’t help but smile.
"As expected... you’re the best, Healing Sprout."
The moment those words left his mouth, the Dryads and Splash Shooters immediately looked offended.
Several Splash Shooters puffed up their bodies while the Dryads crossed their massive arms and turned away dramatically.
Seeing that reaction, Reigns chuckled helplessly.
"Enough of that, guys."
Then he turned toward one particular dryad.
"Dryad Number One. What did you do with those things?"
The moment it heard its title, Dryad Number One immediately straightened its posture proudly.
Then it extended its vines forward.
Several objects dropped onto the grassy ground.
A great sword.
A suit of armor.
And a strange mask.
Reigns immediately sat down on the soft grassy soil and picked up the armor first.
[Huntsman’s Shroud: Tier 2 Armor]
–Forged from the condensed essence of harvested shadows and reinforced with graveyard iron, this armor appears as sleek, liquid-black plating wrapped in a tattered, mist-like cloak. It grants a +10% Strength bonus and completely erases the wearer’s presence by stripping away the sound of footsteps and movement.
–Can be upgraded.
–Upgrade Requirements: [700/2000]
"It can be upgraded too!"
Reigns’ eyes immediately lit up after reading that part.
Equipment that could grow alongside its user was always valuable.
After setting the armor aside, he looked toward the next item.
[Chameleon’s Dirge: Tier 2]
"The name is quite uncanny..."
He muttered softly before reading the description carefully.
–A massive obsidian blade that constantly ripples with a dark, mercurial sheen. This weapon possesses the unique ability to instantly reshape itself into any weapon type to perfectly match the wielder’s tactical need. Imbued with a pocket of the afterlife, the blade acts as a gateway capable of summoning up to five undead thralls directly from its shadow. While the weapon is drawn, each summoned thrall gains a 15% Attack Speed buff.
–Can be upgraded.
–[300/2000]
"Five undead! For real..."
"And it can even be upgraded... the hell!’’
Reigns immediately stood up and grabbed the greatsword.
Despite its enormous size, the weapon felt surprisingly balanced in his hands. He gave it a few practice swings.
Then he poured mana into it and activated its summon function.
WHISH!
A trail of dark smoke suddenly spread around him.
The shadows beneath the weapon twisted strangely.
Then pairs of glowing eyes slowly appeared from the darkness.
One after another, undead knights emerged from the smoke, each holding a massive greatsword.
They stood silently before him.
The summoned undead knights were capped at Level 15.
Before Reigns could properly react, the Dryads and Splash Shooters immediately growled aggressively.
Several vines rose into the air while the Splash Shooters started charging attacks.
Clearly, they did not like the undead energy surrounding the new summons.
"Stop. They’re with us now."
"POPPP?"
"DRYAD!"
The entire group tilted their heads and stared at Reigns in complete confusion.
Then they looked at the undead knights.
Then back at Reigns.
The mass of necrotic energy surrounding the undead made them instinctively step backward in disgust. They glared suspiciously at Reigns as though questioning his life choices.
"Calm down, folks."
He then dismissed the undead.
For some reason he could feel that this place didn’t like the presence of the undead.
Even he felt an inexplicable sense of disgust toward them.
Reigns ignored the matter and picked up the final item.
[Mask of Madness: Tier 2]
–A bone-white visage twisted into a silent, manic grin that throbs with a chaotic heartbeat. This relic completely hides the wearer from heavenly eyes and divine observation, concealing your presence and status window from the prying eyes of high-tier entities, gods, and rival players.
–Activating its true power forces you into madness, entering a state of absolute frenzy that boosts your overall combat stats by 50% while stripping away your ability to distinguish friend from foe for the duration.
–[0/2000]
–Each time you wear it, there is a chance of going insane.
"Go crazy?"
"Mask of Madness..."
The name alone sounded completely unhinged and gave off extremely creepy vibes.
Even sitting motionless on the ground, the grinning white mask looked unsettling.
And the fact that it was a growth-type item was simply the cherry on top.
Reigns stared at it for a few moments.
Then he slowly shook his head.
"I can’t believe I am this lucky."
The more he thought about the previous battle, the more ridiculous it felt.
"No wonder none of my weapons were able to get through."
"If not for the mask managing to slip through the skull, I wouldn’t have been able to deal any damage to it at all."
Luck had certainly played a role in the final result.
Perhaps an even bigger role than he wanted to admit.
Still...
As people always said, even luck was part of skill.
Whatever the case was, he would happily accept the gift.
But now came the important question.
How would he upgrade them?
And what exactly did the numbers represent?"
Carrying the items outside, he decided to search online.
After several rounds of reading, he discovered that many growth-type artifacts existed, each with different requirements.
Some required a certain number of enemies to be killed.
Some consumed monster cores to get stronger, while some grew stronger through fighting itself.
Fortunately, he had quite a number of cores available.
Taking out a core from a storage ring, he held it near the armor.
The core immediately began glowing before slowly disintegrating. Streams of light flowed out and were assimilated into the armor.
Excited, he fed it a few more cores.
[Huntsman’s Shroud]
740/2000
It worked.
"So you eat cores, huh!"
Reigns grinned.
The increase in number seemed somewhat random.
Sometimes a core increased the value by one point, sometimes by two.
A few times, it didn’t increase at all.
Maybe it depended on the core’s level.
Lower-level cores might simply be insignificant to it.
He then experimented with the other items.
The Mask Of Madness was the same; the Chameleon’s Dirge, however, didn’t react to the core at all.
"Haa... Sadly, this thing is different."
"Seems like I will have to try other methods."
