Chapter 1948: Chapter 1948: Mirror World (25)

Acting the full set, Cheng Mu had no choice but to grit his teeth and continue acting.

Chuzheng sat there until dusk, and it was only when Cheng Mu spoke again that she picked up her pen to write... but was that really a pen?

Cheng Mu recognized the lipstick.

Has she been writing with lipstick all along?

Is it because she has money with nowhere else to spend it?

——Are you badly hurt?

"Not badly, I’ll be fine in a couple of days." Cheng Mu paused deliberately, his gaze falling on the spot next to Chuzheng: "I saw Qu An when I was discharged..."

Upon hearing the name Qu An, Chuzheng’s expression turned a bit gloomy.

Qu An should count himself lucky to be alive ten years ago.

Cheng Mu glanced at her from the corner of his eye: "Did you know something before?" That’s why you tried to find a way to send him a message.

——Yes.

Chuzheng replied blandly, showing no intention of elaborating.

——I asked you to find someone to keep an eye on Qu An, why haven’t you received any news?

"I can’t get in touch over there." Cheng Mu said, "Maybe something happened."

Chuzheng’s approach was quite peculiar.

——Why don’t you consider that perhaps they ran off with your money?

"..."

Although he didn’t want to admit it, it’s possible.

He’s in the country, and has no idea what people abroad might be doing.

Cheng Mu quickly changed the subject: "How did you send me the message?" He hadn’t rashly contacted the person sending messages because he couldn’t confirm who it was, fearing an unexpected situation.

——Got someone to help.

Suddenly, Chuzheng remembered she had something to do.

——I’ll pop out for a bit, you stay home and maybe hire a couple of bodyguards.

Cheng Mu was startled: "Hire who..."

He looked at the person in the mirror, who just left without even a glance at him, his mouth twitching slightly.

Five minutes later the mirror returned to normal.

Cheng Mu: "..."

Cheng Mu pulled up the surveillance footage to review it; the mirror always showed his room, without recording anything else.

Since he could now see the opposite side, Cheng Mu finally relaxed a bit.

He pushed himself up from the wheelchair, trying to walk around the room.

His injuries weren’t severe; he could completely walk on his own. Sitting in the wheelchair was entirely Father Cheng’s idea, which he didn’t want to follow.

Cheng Mu circled twice and tossed himself onto the bed, his eyes unfocused as he stared at the ceiling.

That person...

Was somewhat different from what he imagined, but for some reason, he didn’t feel unfamiliar seeing her.

Maybe it’s because she’s been accompanying him during this period.

Cheng Mu thought so, and didn’t know when he fell asleep.

When he woke up, it was completely dark outside, and Cheng Mu reached out to turn on the light, raising his eyes to find the light on in the mirror too.

Cheng Mu knew he could see the mirror from other places in the room, so he only glanced once before looking away.

Cheng Mu went to the bathroom, and upon returning found Chuzheng already sitting at the desk, leaning over drawing something.

From Cheng Mu’s angle, he could only see the paper spread out in front of her, without being able to make out anything else.

The woman sat quietly on the other side, the sound of the pen on paper clearly transmitting over.

Cheng Mu seemed to realize something, his countenance shifted slightly, and he quickly walked out without standing there.

Sure enough, as soon as he made a small noise, the woman looked up at him before lowering her gaze to continue.

Cheng Mu pretended to walk normally beside the desk, now able to see what she was drawing.

It was a piece of menswear, with just the rough outline sketched.

Cheng Mu tapped the pen on the table against the mirror: "Are you there?"

Chuzheng ignored him, her writing hand didn’t pause.

Cheng Mu: "..."

His current setup was pretending not to see, so he couldn’t know whether she was there or not, and he had no choice when ignored.

"..."

A trap he dug for himself.

Chuzheng slowly finished the drawing, threw it aside casually, and took out a lipstick to write.

——How was your exam?

Cheng Mu seemed to notice the writing, waiting for Chuzheng to finish before answering: "It’s alright."

——Planning to attend which school?

"What do you think?"

——As long as you like it.

Cheng Mu quietly observed Chuzheng’s expression; she had no expression when she wrote that.

If he couldn’t see her, he might wonder if she was smiling as she wrote, if there could be...

Yet, now, her expressionless face, as if completing a task, left Cheng Mu somewhat dejected.

He didn’t know why he felt dejected.

He heard his voice say, "If I go to school in another city, I won’t be able to come home."

The person on the opposite side propped her chin with one hand, then slowly scribbled the word "Un" after a while.

Cheng Mu: "..."

Was that not obvious?

If he couldn’t come home, he couldn’t communicate with her like this.

Why was she still so composed?!

Just like when asked before, had she thought about why they could communicate this way, and if they couldn’t, what would she do? She responded with an infuriating "let nature take its course."

"I’m going to sleep."

——Didn’t you just wake up?

"How do you know I just woke up?" Cheng Mu smirked: "Have you been here all along? Why didn’t you respond when I called?"

——Work.

Chuzheng’s reason was valid enough that Cheng Mu would seem unreasonable if he said anything more.

"I’m a patient, can’t I rest?" Cheng Mu pulled the covers and lay down, turning off the light directly.

The lamp on the other side of the mirror was still on, and Cheng Mu could still see the words on the mirror.

——Then have a good rest.

Cheng Mu turned over; he felt the light dim on the other side, sneakily glancing over.

Chuzheng left the desk, turned on a small lamp on the other side, and also packed up the stuff on the desk.

Cheng Mu exhaled, closed his eyes, and forced himself to sleep.

But having just woken, he felt no sleepiness at all.

Tossing like a pancake on the bed, back and forth, he got even more alert.

Two small figures argued in his mind—

"If you hadn’t pretended not to see on purpose, you wouldn’t be like this now, you totally deserve it."

"Didn’t she deceive you before too, there’s nothing wrong with reciprocation!"

"Then what do we do next? Pretend not to see all the time?"

"Whatever happens, we can’t just let it go; she must know what it’s like to be deceived too!"

Argh!

Cheng Mu was beyond annoyed, sprang up and prepared to go out for some air.

And then he saw that segment in the mirror, under the dim light, the woman was taking off her T-shirt.

Cheng Mu directly fell off the bed, making a loud noise, attracting the glance of the person on the other side of the mirror.

Covering his face that got bumped, Cheng Mu pointed at Chuzheng: "Do you have no shame!!" and then realized watching like this seemed inappropriate, quickly averting his gaze, with ears turning crimson.

Chuzheng put on pajamas, showing no shame, and openly spoke: "You’re going to see it anyway in the future, what’s the big deal?"

Cheng Mu: "???"

Who’s going to look!!

Why should he look!

Belatedly feeling something was wrong, that earlier conversation with her...

Cheng Mu leaned on the side of the bed, face buried in the comforter, awkwardly said: "Y-you know everything?"
