Chapter 1929: Chapter 1929: Mirror World (6)
Chuzheng hasn’t noticed anything extra on her desk for several days, nor seen anyone in the mirror.
She had someone investigate Cheng Mu’s whereabouts, but there’s been no news, leaving her frustrated.
On the verge of frustration, Chuzheng is sitting in a western restaurant, playing with her phone. A couple of tables away, Yu Shi is seated opposite a man.
The man’s back is to Chuzheng, making it difficult to see what he looks like.
The two are having a lively conversation. Yu Shi hands the man a document folder, and he appears pleased after reviewing it.
Chuzheng puts down her phone and takes a sip of her drink from the table.
"Miss Yuk."
Chuzheng’s view is blocked by someone; she immediately releases the straw, pushing her drink away slightly.
The man standing before Chuzheng apologetically says, "Miss Yuk, sorry for keeping you waiting. I got caught in traffic and delayed a bit."
Chuzheng glances at the time, "Thirty-five minutes."
"Ah?" The man is momentarily stunned, then realizes, "I’m really sorry." He was just trying to be polite; with today’s traffic, who can avoid being late?
She actually seriously commented on how long he was late. Was it necessary?
The man grumbles inwardly but doesn’t dare show it.
Chuzheng nods, "Sit."
The man takes a seat opposite Chuzheng, blocking her view.
"Miss Yuk, President Song sent me to handle the handover with you. Here are some materials from our company and the financial situation..." The man introduces while retrieving items.
Chuzheng shows little interest; whatever the man says goes in one ear and out the other.
"Miss Yuk... oh, I should call you President Yuk now." The man chuckles humbly, "That’s the current situation of the company. Is there anything you’d like to direct us on now, President Yuk?"
The man is curious; she’s infamous in the circle now, yet she silently acquired their company and became President Yuk overnight.
Not sure whose influence she’s relying on.
But since she’s wealthy, he, as an employee, can’t say much and has to serve her well.
Chuzheng pulls out a document folder from beside her and pushes it to the man, "I want to see the finished product soon."
The man hesitates, opening the folder.
Inside, there’s a USB drive and a stack of papers with clothing design drafts.
The company has several brands, covering both mid and high-end segments, with many designers under its wing, several of whom are quite famous.
Though the man isn’t responsible for this area, he’s seen quite a few design drawings.
From a visual perspective, these designs catch his eye. Both the colors and detailed designs exude a strong personal style.
However...
"President Yuk, this style doesn’t seem much like yours."
He’s seen her work before, and it definitely wasn’t this style.
It’s difficult for a designer’s style to suddenly experience a significant change.
"Isn’t my style someone else’s?" Chuzheng crosses her arms, her voice indifferent and flat, "Can I still use that style?"
"Um..."
The man’s face stiffens slightly.
How is he supposed to respond to that?
Her plagiarism is already proven; if he forcefully tries to clear her name, it would seem foolish, wouldn’t it?
And is it really sensible to be this self-aware? Others hide when accused of plagiarism; but you, from the sound of it, think you can just switch styles and carry on? Is this work even yours?
This attitude... it’s ridiculously arrogant and confident, isn’t it?
"Can I see the finished product soon?" Is it really such a complicated task that requires this much thinking?
The man snaps back to reality and quickly agrees, "Yes, yes... I’ll arrange it once I return. If there’s nothing else, President Yuk, I’ll head back to the company?"
"Hmm."
The man departs hurriedly.
On the other side, Yu Shi and the man also seem to have finished talking, standing up to leave together.
"Yuk Chuzheng?"
A voice bursts in Chuzheng’s ear, deliberately sharp.
This sound is quite abrupt in the quiet western restaurant, causing many people to turn and look.
Luckily, the original owner isn’t a celebrity; people just curiously glance, without much expression.
The one calling Chuzheng is a brand-clad woman walking over with arrogance, her gaze critical and disdainful, "What are you doing here?"
Chuzheng turns off her phone screen, indifferently surveying her, "You... who?"
The woman, who was ready to mock, is taken aback.
What’s the meaning?
Who’s she humiliating?
Now pretending not to know her!
"What are you pretending not to know?" The woman’s face darkens, her tone even more mocking, "Afraid of being recognized now for what you’ve done? What were you doing before!"
"..." I really don’t know you.
The original owner’s memories do include her, but there’s no recollection of what she’s called, so technically, that doesn’t count as knowing her.
Chuzheng doesn’t respond; the woman seizes the opportunity to press on, "You still have time to dine here; with your current reputation, who would dare hire you? I bet no one would even let you compete."
"Of all people, you chose to copy Yu Shi, serves you right."
"Are you even worthy, claiming originality? Doesn’t your face hurt?"
"If I were you, I wouldn’t step foot in this circle ever again."
The woman, skilled with words, rattles off a string of comments.
Chuzheng calls a server over, expressionless, "She’s distracting me. Is this how you serve customers?"
Woman: "..."
Server: "?"
The server wears a puzzled look on their forehead but quickly recovers, "Ma’am, please refrain from shouting here."
The woman widens her eyes, incredulous, "What did you say?"
"Please refrain from shouting here," the server gently reminds.
"I... I’m talking to her, what’s it to you? You’re just serving drinks and water; I’m the customer!"
Despite her branded attire, the woman’s conduct lacks refinement, devoid of elegance, akin to a nouveau riche.
Indeed, she is a nouveau riche.
The server bends over slightly, "Ma’am, if you continue like this, I’ll have to ask you to leave..."
"How dare you threaten me; I’ll complain about you!" The woman scornfully retorts, unrestrained, "Yuk Chuzheng, you’re impressive now, using others."
Chuzheng, uninterested in engaging, simply fixes her gaze on the server, sternly protesting, "She’s too noisy."
The server escorts the woman out.
The woman refuses, directly pointing at the server and begins cursing.
Amid the escalating chaos between the two, Yu Shi, who has been leisurely observing, walks over in high heels, "What’s happening here?"
"Yu Shi sis?" The woman brightens upon seeing Yu Shi, abandoning her clash with the server to cling familiarly to Yu Shi’s arm.
"Yu Shi sis, look at this plagiarist, strutting around without an ounce of repentance."
Regardless of her motives, Yu Shi stands before Chuzheng right then, her makeup impeccable, wearing a new designer ensemble, exuding an elite aura as if flaunting how well she’s doing.
Chuzheng remains unfazed.
