Chapter 32: "You’re Making Me Emotional!"

The dirt track stretched for miles, despite the rocky road the truck travelled along easily, with its speed and high traction it could totally ignore any obstacle along the way, especially after its content holding it down previously were gone.

Only Isaac, Alex and two others were on the truck to check for any life signs before returning to the main convoy.

"What’s wrong?" Isaac asked Alex who was huffing and panting with arms folded round his body.

"N-Nothing, I must be getting cold."

"Are you sure it’s just the cold? Your current actions are giving off a different feeling though." Isaac asked with eyes narrowed.

"What feeling? I’m just cold."

"Nervousness, problem speaking, slow speech, incoherent thoughts and constant shudders. I dare say, if you show even more symptoms I might have to take matters into my own hands."

"I’m fine! There’s nothing of that sort for real." Alex replied without hesitation then slowly moved away from the compartment, scared Isaac might actually commit the forbidden.

Isaac of course had no reason to kill his assistant just because of a suspicion, he was well aware of the reason Alex was acting suspicious as well, even Isaac himself was nervous!

’All jokes and all but we actually need to get back before dusk or we would be done for.’ he thought, watching the truck’s radar slowly sweeping across for signs of life.

After travelling for over twenty more minutes Isaac was finally running out of patience and even the others in the truck also became extremely nervous.

"Kyle turn the truck, and return to the main convoy." Isaac commanded the truck’s AI system which was also its driver.

{Understood sire}

{Beep! Switching directions!}

Isaac walked away from the drivers compartment and turned away with a sigh.

"Bless your soul kid, there’s nothing I can do aside from this, goodluck."

The truck slowly returned to the main convoy’s location, traveling along the dust filled road but Isaac’s face still maintained it’s usual neutral stance, till a red dot popped up on the truck’s radar.

"Kyle what’s that?"

{Beep! It’s a human, it looks like he is waving for the truck to slow down so he can come onboard, should I stop?}

Kyle’s report brought a huge frown to Isaac’s face, he pulled out his two pistols, clocked the barrel then said "Slow down for it."

{Understood sire}

Isaac walked to one of the truck’s doors then pulled it open to reveal a human teen about nineteen years old with red eyes waving at the truck excitedly.

"Hey! Please wait for m--" before he could finish his words Isaac aimed his gun at its face then fired.

Bang!

Bang!!

Bang!!!

After the three shots he closed the door then ordered Kyle "Go on, we don’t have much time left before dusk."

{Understood sire}

He returned to the driver’s compartment then glanced at the radar, the red dot behind the truck was still blinking for a few more seconds before it finally blacked out.

{General, pardon my questions but why did you h

Kill him?}

"It’s not a him, it’s not human, you think any normal human would be able to keep up with a top utility cyber truck designed for mass evacuation? You think any normal human would be able to survive out here in the wild? You think any normal human would just pop out from nowhere and request for the truck to stop?"

{I definitely did my analysis and he was a hundred percent organic, he’s human} Kyle reported then showed a transparent screen with reports of the analysis he ran on the boy before stopping the truck which made Isaac silent.

"I don’t know about this analysis but I did what I felt was right, if he really is human then I’ll be damned but I’ve done it already."

---

After running for over thirty minutes the system finally found another source of life aside from the trees, grasses and other minor life sources, it.. she finally found another human.

Changing direction he ran towards the place indicated by the system at full speed and managed to finally catch up to the truck.

Isaac was shocked beyond belief when he found Draxus who was already beyond tatters, his cloth was torn at the cheat waist, arms, the only thing keeping his sanctity was the fact that his waist was safe from molestations.

"You’re alive."

"Yes of course, what were you expecting? I won’t die so easily before old hags like you all die." He replied with a smug smile then sauntered away from the two.

"Oh by the way, why are you guys separated from the convoy? Did something happen?"

"Nothing happened, I was trying to scout the area nearby to see if you were alive and well, looks like you didn’t need our help." Isaac said with a shrug.

"You guys really came out to look for me? Awwn, you’re making me emotional!"

’Nahh, I’m out of this.’

"But wait, did you kill that corruption source?" He asked, curious to know what might have happened.

"It ran away."

"You defeated it?!"

"Of course I did, it was pretty easy actually. Gave it multiple punches and a few slashes, it couldn’t even tank a few hits before hitting the "I give up" pose." Draxus said with a smug smile which Isaac didn’t believe.

He glanced at Draxus’s clothes and thought ’More like you just survived a near death situation but still, how exactly did he manage to defeat a corruption source, if he really can defeat one then could all our problems possibly be solved if he helped out?’

{Idiot}

"Leave me alone Orion, I barely survived that. Let me flex like my life depends on it.’ he thought, his chin raised with hands folded behind his back like an old grandmaster.

{Sure, whatever you want, enjoy and revel in your delusions}

"You were lucky you managed to find us before night or you might have died before morning, or probably an even worse situation." Isaac said, trying to divert the topic from Draxus’s aimless flexing.

"Night? What happens at night?" He asked with a frown, this wasn’t the first time he was hearing the warning about not staying out at night also, it felt like the type of warning your mom would give you before going out every single time.

"A lot, let’s just say-- if you don’t want to wake up cuddling a giant centipede or something worse just don’t stay out."
