Chapter 1: Transmigration?

"Useless."

"You’re just so useless."

"You’re of no use."

"You should just die, why are you still alive?"

"There’s no hope left for you, give up."

Echoes, countless echoes resounding through his head, of the words Draxus had heard for over six years ever since his mother died.

She died when he was just twelve years old, a little kid in middle school who could only bawl his eyes out in sorrow after his mother’s corpse was brought home, a result of an "accidental" car crash on her way to work.

The driver, a supposed heir of Kyralis incorporations had failed to follow the instructions which resulted in the car crash which took his mother’s life.

His mother? Dead forever, the heir who caused the accident? No one knew what happened to him but his father suddenly renovated their apartment shortly after his mother’s death while no one ever heard about that heir again.

At first Draxus was confused about whatever might have happened but as he grew up he realized the sore truth, "It’s all pointless, the law, the rules, they’re for the powerless to follow, there’s nothing left for the weak to abide by."

After his mother’s death his father took care of him, gave him everything he needed but after two months everything things went downhill for Draxus when his father surprisingly remarried, it wasn’t even up to three months or half a year!

Draxus’ new "mother" took care of him at first, his father was relieved but the following year when his father travelled overseas, leaving Draxus behind with his stepmom she revealed her true colors, relegating him to the position of the houseboy, or maid, or cook, garden boy, kitchen boy whatnot.

Her two girls Stella and Diana enjoyed the wealth and opulence while he had to slave away for them. His father? He didn’t return but would occasionally sent money over to take care of the family.

And just like that Draxus lived in that hellhole for six years! In his final year, the last year before crossing over to college and finally leaving the hell he called home Draxus was still filled with hope for the future, hoping something better, a better future awaited him.

On this very day Draxus had left home in the morning, he got to school late after staying behind to take care of the family chores while his little sisters had left over an hour earlier, Draxus didn’t mind this and finished the chores then walked over to school where he was scolded by the disciplinary officer then told to stay behind and recieve his punishment which included him performing a clean sweep of the school’s registery office.

"Understood sir." Was all he said, he would be leaving in a few months anyways, what was a few more months of problems compared to the years behind him?

’It’ll be fine, I’ll be fine, you’re doing great Draxus.’

"You’re not doing great Draxus." The teacher, miss Adriana said, hurling his sheet of paper at him.

"What is this? Are you still in junior high? Or maybe you need to go back to junior high because you apparently can’t cope in high school huh?" Miss Adriana said, gesturing at the paper where a mark of 26 was recorded on it.

Considering the test was a mock for the state exams to qualify for college it was a pitiful score for Draxus, no college would accept him with such a score, especially when he had no one to snuggle him in.

He lowered his head and received the insults from her without a word, along with the jeering from the rest of the class, he also knew the implications of failing the entrance exams.

"With this score and less than fifteen days left before the exam there’s no hope left for you, you should just give up."

After school he walked back home where he was met with another workload to finish off with, despite his upcoming exams his stepmom refused to let him off, he wasn’t really a bright student either, wasn’t really hardworking enough to stay up and read overnight for days on end also but all he had was an endless abyss of dreams.

Goals....

"If only I could, if only, why is my life so fucked up." Draxus muttered, his hands clenching onto his hair.

A pang of headache swept through his brains, echoes resounding in his head. Words, mummurs and scenes of his life playing out before his eyes.

"I need to take a break and rest, when I’m up I’ll think about this, by then." He muttered then snuggled towards the little bed in his room, falling asleep shortly after.

Ding!

"Mother! I’m home!" Stella walked into the house, running to her mother who was at the dining hall with a huge smile etched on her face.

"Where have you been?"

"I went somewhere." She said with a pout.

"Whe--"

"Ah right, I have news for you mother, Miss Adriana said Draxus might not be able to cope with the entrance exams and would be relegated!" She said in an attempt to divert the conversation and escape her impending "doom"

"Oh is that so? Call him here for me."

"On my wayy." She said then darted towards Draxus’s room, successfully escaping her mother’s punishment by pushing Draxus out as the scapegoat.

"Draxus! Mother’s calling you!" She said, pushing his door open only to find Draxus lying sprawled out on the bed.

"What are you doi--"

"Ahhhhhh!!!!"

---

"Useless!"

"Useless piece of trash!"

The same cycle, the same pattern, the same... Words?

’Where am I?’ Draxus thought while opening his eyes, a group of four men stood blocking his vision clad in black robes, one of them had a hand raised with flames billowing on his palms.

"He’s up."

"Tsk, I thought he actually died from that, useless but he has the tenacity of a cockroach, stuff him back!"

’Hold on, this setting, am I dreaming? Could it be the one thing I’ve always dreamed of, transmigration?’
