Chapter 400: Chapter 297: Shock

Yves still held his daughter tightly with one hand.

Not wanting to drag his boss into his personal mess, he said hurriedly,

"Boss, I can handle this. Nash, get him out of here."

Feng Mountain shook his head, drew the Glock 17L Combat Master from his waistband, and gently pressed the switch on the red dot sight.

Instantly, a striking red line shot out, landing right between the tattooed man’s eyebrows.

At the same time, Nash just as quickly drew a Beretta 92F and aimed it at the men across from them. The atmosphere grew even more tense. It felt as if the slightest movement would trigger a fierce gunfight.

However, in the midst of this tense standoff, Feng Mountain acted as if nothing was happening. He began to talk to himself, his voice neither loud nor soft, but pitched perfectly for everyone present to hear.

"This gun is the new Glock 17L Combat Master from Talan Tactics Company. It has a 17-round extended magazine, a custom trigger, and a high-speed barrel. By standard, it can empty a magazine in six seconds. I’ve done it in five, with ninety percent accuracy."

Feng Mountain paused, his eyes locked on the tattooed man with a provocative glint.

"Let’s play a guessing game. Who shoots who first? How about we find out? Like a Wild West duel. I’ll count to three, and we both fire."

The tattooed man, who had been so arrogant moments before, was completely overwhelmed by Feng Mountain’s aggressive posture. His face went pale, and beads of sweat formed on his forehead. He quickly pushed the blonde woman aside and threw his hands high in the air as he spoke.

"Hey, man, there’s no need for this. It’s all a misunderstanding. How about we just leave peacefully?"

Feng Mountain gave his Combat Master a disdainful shake. His tone was contemptuous, as if he were shooing away annoying flies. He clearly didn’t see these people as a threat.

"Go find out how I got here before you come looking for trouble. I could crush trash like you with my little toe. Now, get lost!"

"Valerie, I’ll come see you another day."

The tattooed man glanced at the blonde woman, muttering this under his breath. Then, he and his cronies scurried away, their steps panicked, terrified that Feng Mountain might suddenly change his mind and open fire.

In a few moments, the group had completely vanished from sight.

Feng Mountain remained standing there, his gaze fixed in the direction they had fled. Only when they were completely gone did he reholster his pistol.

He then noticed the little girl staring at him, her big eyes wide and unblinking. Her gaze was a mixture of curiosity and fear.

Seeing this, Feng Mountain broke into a warm smile and said softly,

"Hey, beautiful little angel. It’s a pleasure to meet you. You can call me Uncle."

「Just then.」

Cook came running over, using a cowboy hat to cover most of his face. He looked both comical and extremely cautious as he tried to conceal himself.

When he got closer, he glanced in the direction the tattooed man had gone and patted his chest as if breathing a sigh of relief.

Then, a helpless expression crossed his face. He turned to the blonde woman, his voice laced with reproach.

"Valerie, why is Bao Wen in the community? The Zorro Gang said they’d stay out. What have you done now?"

Hmph!

The blonde woman heard Cook but had no intention of answering. She simply lowered her head and walked toward Yves. When she reached him, she held out her hands, her voice firm and demanding.

"Fiona, come home with Mommy."

"No! I want to stay with Daddy!"

Hearing this, the little girl in Yves’s arms immediately wrapped her small arms tightly around his neck, clinging to him as if he would disappear the moment she let go. Her little face was set in a stubborn expression; she clearly didn’t want to leave with the blonde woman.

"Fiona!" The blonde woman’s voice rose, laced with anger when her daughter refused to obey.

Yves held his daughter, his expression complicated. He looked at the blonde woman and said softly, "Valerie, let’s go home first and talk about this there."

That was the wrong thing to say. Like a lit fuse hitting dynamite, the blonde woman, Valerie, instantly became hysterical, screaming at the top of her lungs.

"Go home? Whose home? This stopped being your home a long time ago! You left for the army for eight years, came back and assaulted someone, then spent three years on the run. And *now* you remember you have a home?"

"Do you have any idea what I went through all those years, all by myself?"

Listening to Valerie’s accusations, Yves silently bowed his head. He said nothing, only holding his daughter tighter, as if she were his only support, his last source of comfort.

Feng Mountain stood to the side, watching. ’I don’t even know what to say,’ he thought, a mix of emotions churning within him.

’If I hadn’t heard Cook’s story about Yves’s past, hearing this woman’s hysterical screaming would make me think Yves was a total scumbag—a deadbeat who abandoned his wife and daughter.’

’But now, I just feel bad for the guy. To be stuck with a woman like this... what a miserable life.’

Feng Mountain took another, closer look at Valerie.

’From her appearance, you can still faintly see the contours of a pretty face. I can imagine she must have been quite beautiful once.’

’But now, the dark circles under her eyes were severe, and she looked completely drained.’
