Chapter 364: Chapter 279: The Script
Her once dull and lifeless eyes landed on Feng Mountain, who was fully geared, and on the shiny Sheriff’s badge on his chest.
It was as if she had suddenly seen hope.
Tears instantly streamed from her eyes, beyond her control.
They slid down her cheeks and soaked the pillow.
Her injured lips trembled slightly. She wanted to say something, but she was too overwhelmed and weak to make a sound.
"Ma’am, please don’t be distressed. I will catch the man who did this. I swear it on the Spirit of All Things."
Seeing her state, Feng Mountain’s heart ached. He quickly spoke in a gentle voice, his tone full of sincerity and resolve, trying to offer Lina some comfort and courage.
He paused for a moment before continuing, "I need to ask a few questions, but if you’re not comfortable, you don’t have to answer."
"Go ahead, ask."
The woman bit her injured lip, responding faintly through her chapped mouth.
Every word seemed to drain all her strength.
But her eyes shone with the resolve to see her attacker punished.
Despite her pain and weakness, she was determined to cooperate with Feng Mountain and explain everything clearly.
"Frank, take this down." Feng Mountain turned and said to Frank in a low voice, then began his questions. "Can you tell me the specific time the crime occurred?"
Frank, standing to the side, couldn’t help but roll his eyes. ’This guy is so bossy,’ he thought to himself. Still, he took out his notebook and pen and began to write.
The woman thought for a moment with her tear-reddened eyes, as if struggling to recall the horrifying experience, then slowly began to speak.
"It must have been around 9 AM. The man came to pick up a custom-made reindeer hide coat. I turned to get it for him, and then he suddenly grabbed me from behind."
As she spoke, the woman’s body began to tremble, her eyes filled with terror as if she were reliving the horrifying scene.
"I struggled, so he punched me. Then... then he grabbed my throat. I felt like I couldn’t breathe. After that... I passed out. When I woke up, he was gone."
Recalling the nightmarish experience, the woman shivered uncontrollably.
She gripped the blanket tightly, as if that could offer her some small sense of security.
But her unstoppable trembling still betrayed the deep-seated fear and pain within her.
Tears streamed down her face like pearls from a broken necklace.
At that moment, Frank, who had been diligently taking notes on the crime, set down his pen. His expression was serious, yet tinged with sympathy as he spoke.
"I’m so sorry to make you relive such a painful event, ma’am."
"If it’s alright with you, I’d like to take some photos of your injuries. Once we catch him, these photos will be powerful evidence to extend his sentence."
"Of course, if you’re uncomfortable with me doing it, someone else can take them. I just want to do everything I can to fight for your rights."
"I’m a lawyer, so please trust my professional ethics. I guarantee these photos will not be shared and will only be used for this case. This is all to ensure the man who did this gets the punishment he deserves."
As he spoke, Frank took his phone from his pocket and offered it to the Ijiku Village Chief, who was standing nearby. His gaze was questioning, hoping the chief could help coordinate the matter.
"Okay, sir." The woman was silent for a moment.
Then, she gave a slight nod.
She knew this might be the best way to ensure her attacker received the harshest possible punishment.
Although a part of her recoiled at the thought of confronting the shocking injuries on her body again, she chose to cooperate so that justice could be served.
The Ijiku Village Chief called out a name to someone outside the room.
A moment later, a middle-aged woman entered.
She first glanced at Lina on the bed with concern, then silently took the phone from the Ijiku Village Chief and began to help take the photos.
Seeing this, Feng Mountain, Nash, and Frank tactfully stepped out of the room to wait quietly outside the door.
The air outside the door felt heavy and oppressive.
Everyone was in low spirits. Thinking about what Lina had endured, each man’s brow was tightly furrowed.
A short while later, the middle-aged woman came out, holding the phone and a plastic bag.
Her face a mask of grief and indignation, she handed the plastic bag to Feng Mountain.
"This is the filth that bastard left behind. Lina saved it, thinking it might be of use to you, Sheriff."
"Thank you. It is," Feng Mountain said, quickly taking the bag.
He gave it a gentle shake. Inside was a piece of a woman’s old undergarment.
There were visible stains on it.
These stains would undoubtedly be a crucial clue in finding the attacker.
Seeing this, the Ijiku Village Chief was about to re-enter the cabin, but he hesitated and turned to Feng Mountain.
"Feng Feng, do you need to ask more questions? Lina can’t clearly describe the oil worker’s appearance. I heard he was just transferred to the garrison. But she said she can recognize his voice."
Feng Mountain immediately shook his head.
’She’s suffered enough. There’s no point in reopening her wounds again and again.’
’Besides, I have a key piece of evidence now. With this clue, I can use divination to catch that bastard.’
’There’s no need to make Lina relive those painful details.’
With that thought, Feng Mountain took the plastic bag, gestured to Nash and Frank, and prepared to act on the clues they now had.
