Chapter 351: Chapter 272: Hunting the Culprit (Part 2)

AWOOOO!!

Prince was instantly displeased.

’Relying on a woman? Who do you think you’re looking down on?’

He spun around and tore back to the spot where he had just dropped the meat.

He spotted Xiong Er, who was happily gorging himself.

Without a second thought, he lunged forward and swatted Xiong Er, sending the bear flying.

Xiong Er yelped from the sudden blow and tumbled several times in the snow before staggering awkwardly to his feet.

His face was a mask of indignation, but he didn’t dare make a peep, so he just shuffled off to the side.

Prince paid him no mind. He snatched up a reindeer head from the snow.

The reindeer head was rather large, and Prince seemed to struggle to hold it in his mouth, but he still strutted majestically over to Feng Mountain.

He dropped the reindeer head on the ground and then lifted his snout high into the air.

"You hunted this? Nice work!"

Feng Mountain glanced at the reindeer’s unblinking eyes and gave Prince’s head a commendatory pat.

Prince kept his head held high, but his furiously wagging tail had already betrayed his smug pride.

Feng Mountain saw right through him.

However, he had no intention of calling Prince out on his little act. He just smiled and reached out to affectionately scratch the wolf’s chin.

"Good boy. You’re getting stronger and stronger. You can even hunt reindeer now."

Prince was overjoyed by the praise. He narrowed his eyes slightly, a contented rumble vibrating in his throat.

Then, Feng Mountain asked with a smile, "Are you two coming back to the camp with me? We’ll have some new companions arriving in a few days."

Prince’s ears perked up at the words, and he was momentarily stunned before a feeling of resistance immediately welled up inside him.

’New companions?’

’Who needs companions?’

’I’m so comfortable here in the forest. I have a mate, a son, and my Wolf Pack.’

With this in mind, Prince didn’t hesitate for a second. He shook his head emphatically, so fast it was a blur.

"Alright. In any case, those companions are for Coca-Cola, as his little followers. You probably don’t need any. Stay safe in the forest. If you run into poachers, stay far away. Bullets don’t have eyes."

"If it gets too cold, come back to the camp and stay for a few days."

Feng Mountain didn’t press the issue, just fussed over him like a nagging father.

After saying his goodbyes to Prince, Princess, the Wolf Pack, and Xiong Da and Xiong Er, he took Snow and left the Moonlight Forest.

Back at the camp, he went to the Mammoth excavation pit.

The skeletons of the five Mammoths had been disassembled, with each bone wrapped in a specially made paper bag, labeled with a number, and arranged by the edge of the pit.

Yves and his team were riding snowmobiles, loading the bones onto sleds according to the numbers on the bags, and hauling them over to the fire pit.

After getting Snow settled, Feng Mountain joined the transport crew.

As he helped move the bones, he made sure to double-check the numbers to prevent any mix-ups.

The transportation work seemed simple, but it was actually quite tedious.

After all, the numbered sequence for each bone had to be perfect. If the order got mixed up, the subsequent assembly would be a huge headache.

So, every time they unloaded a sled at the fire pit, everyone had to meticulously rearrange the bones in numerical order. There was no room for error.

All this to-ing and fro-ing took up half the day, but they finally managed to transport all the bones.

There were no longer any tourists at the camp.

The usual lively, bustling atmosphere was gone, and the entire camp felt exceptionally quiet.

The various tourist facilities, like the recreational areas and dining halls, were mostly shut down.

The employees and the few guests who remained at the camp were now beginning to wake up and stir.

Having heard that the Mammoth skeletons were going to be assembled today, they flocked to the fire pit, full of curiosity.

In an open space near the fire pit, Milyukov and his colleagues were methodically making preparations for the assembly.

They were starting with the smallest Mammoth of the herd.

The ground in this spot had already been leveled and reinforced to ensure it could bear the weight of the standing Mammoth skeleton.

Next, Milyukov followed the previously marked numbers and located the small Mammoth’s leg bones.

At first glance, the assembly work seemed simple enough—just a matter of piecing bones together.

But in practice, it was extraordinarily difficult.

You have to understand, after these Mammoths died, they were buried under layer after layer of silt for eons.

They were mostly found lying flat, buried deep underground.

The connections between the bones had become incredibly fragile over time, and some pieces were even damaged or missing entirely.

And now, the task was to reassemble them into a standing posture.

This required analyzing and determining the shape and position of each bone, as well as how they were originally connected.

Moreover, during the assembly process, they had to constantly monitor the overall balance and stability.

The slightest mistake could cause the painstakingly assembled sections to come crashing down, and all their hard work would be for nothing.

The onlookers watched for a long time but couldn’t make heads or tails of the process.

As time wore on and their curiosity waned, they began to drift away.

Feng Mountain was among them. He was not one to sit still, and besides, he had an important mission today.

To investigate the culprit.

It wasn’t that Feng Mountain hadn’t tried using his divination.

But his divination couldn’t be used on himself.

If the person had left even a single trace, he could have used his divination to find them.

But after that person slept with him last night...

They had cleaned the bedroom so thoroughly, inside and out, that not a single hair was left behind.

Obviously, this was premeditated.

What’s more, they knew about his divination ability.

Still, that narrowed down the pool of suspects considerably.

’Only a handful of people know I can perform divination.’

’Frank, Tom, Yves, Nash, David, and those four retired soldiers... it definitely wasn’t them.’

’Aside from Frank, the rest of them are straight. And there’s no way Frank would make a move on his only grand-nephew, right?’

’Among the women, only Jenny, Erica, Maria, and Tammy know. Demi probably knows too.’

’The list of suspects is getting shorter.’

’For some reason, I feel like Erica is a suspect.’

Feng Mountain immediately stormed over to the staff cabin area and went straight to Erica’s mobile cabin.

’They should all be up by now. I even saw the cleaning staff tidying up for them this morning.’

Without giving it much thought, Feng Mountain pushed the door open and walked right in.

It was his first time in Erica’s cabin, and he was surprised to find she had decorated it in a pink color scheme.

’I have to admit, it looks pretty good.’

But in the next second...

He froze in place.

Erica and Demi didn’t seem surprised to see Feng Mountain appear in the room. They simply smiled and asked...

"Something wrong, Khilla?"

"Sorry, wrong room! Carry on," Feng Mountain said, waving his hands awkwardly. He hastily spun around and fled from the cabin.

As their charming laughter echoed behind him, Feng Mountain couldn’t help but recall the scene he had just witnessed.

He couldn’t help but shake his head.

’Wow, they’re wild.’

Next, he headed to Jenny’s cabin. This time, he didn’t dare to just barge in. He raised his hand, just about to knock...

when the wooden door opened. A neatly dressed Jenny emerged from the cabin, carrying a laundry basket.

She saw Feng Mountain with his hand raised to knock and a gentle smile graced her lips.

"Can I help you?"

"Oh, uh, I just came to see... Did you sleep well last night?" Feng Mountain awkwardly redirected his raised hand to scratch his head.

Jenny gave a charming smile and glanced down at her laundry basket.

"After you left last night, I don’t know what got into Erica, but she roped us into drinking a ton. I just woke up. I even threw up on my clothes."

Feng Mountain’s gaze followed hers to the laundry basket.

He saw a purple bra lying on top of the pile, and a thought flashed through his mind.

’I never would have guessed...’

’Jenny is pretty well-endowed.’

Just then, Jenny noticed what he was looking at in the basket.

A slight blush colored her cheeks, but she didn’t try to hide it. Instead, she boldly held the basket out for Feng Mountain to see.

"Do you like it?"

"I do!" Feng Mountain blurted out without thinking. He regretted it the instant the words left his mouth and quickly scrambled for an excuse. "Uh, they’re assembling the Mammoth skeleton over at the fire pit. I’m gonna go check it out."

Then he took off as if his feet were on fire, making a clumsy escape.

As for Maria and Tammy...

Feng Mountain decided not to pursue the investigation any further.

’Since the person doesn’t want to reveal themselves, why should I bother figuring out who it was?’

’I’ll just pretend it was all a dream.’

’Besides, it’s not like I was the one who lost out.’

Having come to terms with it, Feng Mountain was no longer so conflicted. He pushed the whole matter to the back of his mind.
