Chapter 129: Chapter 108: The Vicious and the Quiet

Selas and Roland, Knight’s Squires, along with Vasco and other Senior Infantry, held Iron Shields engraved with the crest of House Henry—a symbol of their martial glory.

Protected by their armor and shields, they braved a rain of arrows, advancing step by step toward the castle wall.

"For the Bro Clan! For Baron Henry! Charge!" Selas roared, raising his Heavy Sword high.

He broke through the defenders’ rain of arrows and, relying on his heavy armor, slammed himself directly into the enemy’s line on the castle wall.

Roland and the other Knight’s Squires, not to be outdone, swung their weapons, cutting down the defenders who tried to resist.

Vasco and his men used their warhammers and battleaxes to widen the breach, clearing a path for the soldiers behind them.

The arrival of Selas, Roland, and their men shattered the balance on the wall. The defenders of Ximira Castle were overwhelmed by their ferocity and strength.

"They’re on the wall! Quick, pikes!"

An officer from Ximira Castle shouted, a hint of panic in his voice.

But Selas, Roland, and the others had already charged into the enemy ranks. The defending soldiers fell one after another under their assault, unable to form an effective resistance.

Some soldiers even broke down under the pressure, tears streaming uncontrollably down their faces.

’We’re just Militia! Most of us have never even held a weapon before, and you expect us to fight an army like this?!’

The battle on the wall descended into chaos as Henry’s soldiers and the defenders of Ximira Castle engaged in close-quarters combat within the narrow space.

The clash of swords, the crash of shields. Below the wall, Henry watched the battle’s progress with a cold gaze.

He knew the bravery of Selas, Roland, and the others had opened the first door to victory for his army. He took a deep breath, then raised his great axe and pointed it at the wall.

"All forces, charge!"

At Henry’s command, more soldiers surged toward the wall. They scaled the Shield Carriers, crossed the ramps, and rushed into the fray on the ramparts.

Henry’s army was like a tide, surging onto the wall wave after wave. A few men at a time, then a few more, they battered Ximira Castle’s defensive line.

Several Militia members were hurling rocks and buckets of boiling excrement down onto the scaling soldiers when they were targeted by the focused fire of Henry’s Veteran Shooters.

WHOOSH—

A heavy arrow from the Veteran Archer Officer flew over the head of a militiaman bending to pick up a rock, grazed the ear of an infantryman pouring down excrement, and buried itself in the back of a squad leader who was directing his men.

"Ah!"

The officer staggered, looked down at the arrowhead protruding from his chest, and collapsed to the ground, blood frothing from his mouth.

"Shield Array, charge!"

Vasco quickly assessed the situation around him, gave the order, and drew his steel sword to lead the charge.

As he passed a lightly armored militiaman, Vasco swung his steel sword viciously, slicing open the man’s waist.

With a sickening RIP, the sharp blade cut through skin. Fabric and belly were easily split open, and a yellow-green mess of human viscera spilled out as if from a bursting dam.

Before the militiaman’s scream could even escape his lips, Vasco was already engaged with another armored soldier.

Seeing this, Selas and his companions thought, ’How can we let him show us up? We’re the Heavy Armored Soldiers!’ They raised their shields and swords and charged into the slaughter.

Roland, a small shield in one hand and a Double-Bladed Battleaxe in the other, roared as he plunged into the enemy ranks. He swung his weapon left and right, caving in noses and crushing skulls, sending blood flying everywhere.

The officers knew that if this position fell, the archer tower behind them would be captured. From there, the attackers could get down and open the castle gates. Everything would be over!

The Militia had to fight, willing or not. The professional soldiers wanted to fight, and the officers *had* to fight! If they lost, their status and wealth, all their years of effort, would be reduced to nothing.

The officers actually showed a fearless ferocity, and together with the salaried soldiers, they spurred the Militia into a desperate resistance.

Selas swung his knight’s sword again and again, but the militiamen used the reach of their short spears to make opportunistic strikes at his joints.

Selas steeled himself and, ignoring the opportunistic spears, leaped forward and slammed into an officer, knocking him to the ground.

Seeing Selas’s back exposed, another militiaman raised his short spear to stab him.

SQUELCH! Roland’s battleaxe sliced open the militiaman’s throat, and he turned to continue fighting.

After knocking the officer down, Selas viciously swung his right fist at the man’s face. His hard gauntlet was no different from a rock, and soon the officer’s face was a bloody pulp under Selas’s repeated blows.

Selas stared at the mangled, bloody face before him and couldn’t help but wonder, ’What would this look like if Henry were here?’

As more and more of Henry’s soldiers poured onto the wall, the balance of the battle tipped decidedly. The defenders were forced to retreat toward the archer tower above the main gate.

The archer tower was the last line of defense. Stationed there were two of the Baron of Ximira Castle’s own Knight’s Squires. They were the Baron’s most trusted Warriors, well-equipped and highly skilled in Martial Arts.

The other armored soldiers had also fallen back there. As long as they held that position, they could prevent the enemy from pushing deeper. It was the only way down from the wall.

Selas and Roland charged at the very front, unwilling to let Vasco steal their thunder.

When they saw the two Knight’s Squires defending the archer tower, they knew the next fight would be a tough one.

"Come on! Let’s see what the Knight’s Squires of Ximira Castle are made of!" Selas roared, his voice filled with fighting spirit.

The two Knight’s Squires stood at the entrance to the archer tower, their Heavy Swords and shields their faithful companions. Facing the charging Selas and Roland, they showed not a trace of fear.

The battle erupted in an instant. Selas and Roland were the first to attack.

Selas swung his Heavy Sword at one Knight’s Squire, while Roland launched a fierce assault on the other with his Double-Bladed Battleaxe.

To their surprise, the Knight’s Squires of Ximira Castle were no pushovers.

Their Swordsmanship was exquisite, their use of the shield masterful. Every parry was perfectly timed, and every counterattack was filled with power.

’It’s hard to believe. How can a noble with such a pathetic army have squires with this much combat prowess?’

A storm of emotions churned within Selas as he fought; he felt a challenge unlike any he had ever faced. Roland, too, felt the pressure from his opponent, and the swings of his battleaxe grew even fiercer.

During the fight, both sides looked for an opening in their opponent’s defense. Selas noticed a slight hesitation in his opponent’s guard. He immediately seized the opportunity, slashing his sword toward the man’s shoulder.

However, the Knight’s Squire reacted with extreme speed, blocking the blow with his shield just in time.

Selas and Roland were locked in a fierce battle with the Knight’s Squires of Ximira Castle. Sparks flew from their clashing swords, and the crash of shields echoed nonstop. Just as they reached a stalemate, a set of heavy, powerful footsteps suddenly resounded from the wall.

Selas and Roland took a few steps back. Like everyone else, their eyes were involuntarily drawn to the source of the sound.

There was Henry, clad in his black armor and holding his enormous battleaxe, striding onto the battlefield.

His unique helmet was adorned with strange horns, like a symbol of death itself, striking fear into all who saw it.

His presence was like an unstoppable force, bearing down on everyone with an immense sense of pressure. The skull insignia on his armor only added to his terrifying aura.

Henry’s battleaxe, with its massive blade, looked as if it could tear through anything—as if he could split the very walls of the castle with it.

His arrival was undoubtedly a huge morale boost for Selas and Roland, and at the same time, it was the final weight that sealed the doom of Ximira Castle’s defenders.

"The Lord is here!"

The two Knight’s Squires from Ximira Castle felt immense fear as they gazed at the towering figure. They had never imagined they would face such an opponent on the battlefield.

Henry said nothing. He simply swept his cold gaze across the battlefield, then raised his battleaxe and pointed it at the Knight’s Squires of Ximira Castle.

The gesture was simple and direct, yet it carried the weight of an undeniable command.

The two Knight’s Squires glanced at each other. ’What does this mean? He’s taking us both on?’

They had also just heard it: the black-armored Warrior before them was Baron Henry, a Warrior who had made a name for himself on the battlefields against the Half-Beastmen.

"Aaargh!!"

They charged forward, attempting to attack this seemingly invincible enemy with their Heavy Swords and shields, but they would soon discover it was nothing but a futile struggle.

The fight erupted once more. The two Knight’s Squires swung their swords, trying to leave a mark on Henry’s armor.

However, the moment their blades made contact with Henry’s armor, it was as if they had struck an insurmountable wall. They produced only a feeble clang, unable to inflict any real damage.

Huh? The two Knight’s Squires stared dumbfounded at Henry’s armor, unable to comprehend the situation.

Henry chuckled and threw a punch.

One of the Knight’s Squires tried to block Henry’s attack with his shield, but with a dull THUD from Henry’s simple punch, the squire was sent flying as if launched by a Catapult.

He slammed hard against the castle wall before sliding limply to the ground, unconscious.

Seeing this, the other Knight’s Squire was filled with despair. He swung his sword at Henry in a frenzy, but Henry didn’t even bother to dodge, letting the attack land.

Then, Henry’s battleaxe swept out horizontally. The force was so immense that it shattered the Knight’s Squire’s heavy armor. The shriek of rending metal mingled with the sickening crunch of flesh and bone beneath it, a horrifying sound.

The Knight’s Squire was sent flying backward and landed heavily on the ground. A spray of blood erupted from his mouth, staining the stone bricks of the wall red.

His chest was severely caved in, and blood gushed from the wound. He was clearly unable to fight any longer.

Selas and Roland witnessed it all, a flash of shock in their eyes. The shock of seeing him chop down a tree was completely different from the awe of seeing him in real combat!

With Henry’s arrival, the fight for the archer tower ended swiftly. Before this black-armored War God, the defenders of Ximira Castle were like paper dolls, easily torn apart.
