Chapter 120: Chapter 101: Do You Like My Hammer?
Accustomed to large-scale battles against Half-Beastmen, Henry couldn’t understand why these soldiers were so mentally fragile.
Amid the clamor of the battlefield, dozens of elite, heavily armored Mercenaries noticed Henry’s slaughter, their attention drawn by the shouts of their officers.
They moved in concert to surround Henry, intending to use their superior numbers and heavy armor to halt his mad slaughter.
It wasn’t just that Henry killed quickly and in great numbers—it was that he was too damn bloody! Body parts flew everywhere. It was either decapitated heads soaring through the air or fountains of blood jetting from necks. The blow to morale was devastating.
These elite Mercenaries were the finest warriors of their respective Mercenary Clans. Their armor was thick, and their weapons were incredibly sharp.
In a way, they were powerful Warriors, raised by the Mercenary Clans in the same manner as noble Knights.
Henry’s eyes narrowed as he sensed the killing intent closing in. With a cold sneer, he unhesitatingly hooked his Yanyue Saber onto his horse’s barding.
He swung himself out of the saddle, landing nimbly on the ground. Henry’s movements were so agile, he didn’t seem like a Warrior weighed down by heavy armor.
He quickly armed himself with a pair of Sharp-beaked Armor-piercing Warhammers. These weapons were specifically designed to combat heavily armored enemies, their sharp tips capable of penetrating armor plating.
Henry gave his warhorse a light pat, signaling it to retreat. Then he turned to face the encircling Heavy Armor Soldiers alone.
The elite Mercenaries saw Henry dismount and, thinking they had found their chance, raised their weapons and charged.
However, Henry’s strength and fighting skill far surpassed their expectations!
Henry swung his Armor-piercing Warhammers, meeting each enemy with astonishing speed and precision. His swings were a relentless, impenetrable storm, hammering furiously at the "weak points" of the Mercenaries’ armor.
In truth, Henry was just swinging wildly. Before him, even the sturdiest Heart Protection Plate could not withstand the destructive force of his Sharp-beaked Armor-piercing Warhammers.
The Heavy Armor Soldiers discovered in horror that their shields and armor were like paper under Henry’s warhammers, offering no real protection.
Like a woodpecker, Henry hammered one dent after another into their armor.
Their own attacks, meanwhile, posed no threat to Henry. He dodged or parried every blow with ease.
Henry’s hammer caved in one Heavy Armor Soldier’s helmet, the impact crushing his cheek.
Immense pain and a flood of blood brought tears streaming from his eyes. He could feel a mouthful of broken teeth rolling over his tongue in a slurry of blood.
He collapsed to the ground, his vision blurring.
The Heavy Armor Soldier struggled to rise, only to see Henry shatter another Warrior’s arm with a single blow.
’Doesn’t he get tired?’ The Heavy Armor Soldier was bewildered. ’Armor that weighs seventy or eighty pounds is exhausting enough to wear, let alone swing weapons in. The stamina required is immense. But...’
Henry kicked aside an enemy who tried to attack him from behind, then turned his head to look at the half-kneeling soldier.
Henry clicked his tongue. He walked over, swung his hammer one last time, and put the man out of his misery.
Henry weaved through the Heavy Armor Soldiers, his movements powerful and unrestrained. No one could get close!
There was nothing flashy or superfluous in his style. The soldiers who witnessed it were chilled to the bone.
From the rear, the Mercenary officers anxiously gave orders, trying to mobilize more soldiers to swarm Henry. But he was already surrounded by such a dense crowd of combatants that reinforcements couldn’t get through.
Henry fought like a tireless machine, never stopping.
As the battle raged on, the ground around Henry became littered with the corpses of Heavy Armor Soldiers.
Their armor had been smashed by his Armor-piercing Warhammers. Henry’s weapons were stained scarlet, and he himself was almost completely covered in blood from head to toe.
Henry took a deep breath. The thick, metallic stench of blood filled the air, and he found it deeply satisfying.
’I’ve been resting for half a year,’ he thought. ’Any longer without some action and I’d start to go rusty.’
Henry had not only shattered their formation, but completely broken their morale. The Mercenaries began to scatter and flee, their hearts filled with the terror of death.
"Who are you!"
A tall, powerfully built man strode toward Henry. He was clad in the heavy Zha Armor typical of the Northern Lands, complete with full pauldrons and vambraces.
Rother stared grimly at the Blood Man before him. ’That terrifying strength... calling him a black bear wouldn’t be an exaggeration.’
Henry spoke from behind his Face Armor. "You stand before a Vassal of the great Emperor, the lord of Westwood Laine, Baron Henry Bro! And who are you?"
Henry eyed the powerfully built man, who was similar to him in height and build, and gave him his full attention. The man’s muscles strained against his thick armor; he was not one to be underestimated.
Rother’s eyes widened. ’So the stories about the famous war hero weren’t exaggerated after all? I always thought the nobles were just flattering him because he was the Emperor’s student!’
"I am Rother of the Shield Brotherhood, and I challenge you to a duel!" Rother declared, staring at Henry.
For members of these Mercenary Clans, their surname was the name of their company.
"Fine!"
Rother donned his Face Armor and advanced on Henry, sword and shield in hand. Henry, utterly fearless, moved to meet him with his warhammers.
Once they were within range, neither made the first move. Instead, they circled each other, constantly shifting their stances as they searched for an opening.
Henry didn’t dare let his guard down. ’Anyone who’d still dare to challenge me to single combat after seeing what I can do,’ he thought, ’is a truly courageous Warrior.’
Rother tapped his shield lightly with his Heavy Sword, but Henry didn’t take the bait. After a moment of observation, he lashed out with his warhammer, a sweeping blow aimed directly at Rother’s neck.
