Chapter 997: Chapter 57: The Deterrence of Sheng Xie_3

Yan Li angrily said, "If they don’t let us pass, we’ll just fight our way out."

Yan Shi glanced at him and said sarcastically, "Oh, you’re so capable, why don’t you go do it! There are a hundred thousand troops outside. No matter how skilled you are, what can you do? Can you really defeat a hundred thousand well-trained warriors?"

Yan Li was at a loss for words and mumbled without being able to speak clearly.

Ah Dai hesitated in his heart. Summoning a dragon was a simple task for him, but he was still afraid of shocking the crowd by summoning a dragon in front of so many people. "Brother Yan Shi, if we summon a dragon, can we leave then?" Yan Shi paused and said, "Ah Dai, are you not confident? If you’re not sure, let’s forget it. If it really doesn’t work out, we’ll just stay here. They wouldn’t dare to do anything to us, and once they get the message from Lord Aldos, they will naturally let us go."

Ah Dai said, "It’s not that I’m not confident, it’s just that summoning a dragon might be a bit too scary."

Yan Shi shook his head and said, "Scary? What’s there to be afraid of? Nowadays, no matter where you are, as long as you have the strength, everyone will respect you. A magician who can summon dragons, that symbolizes a tremendous amount of power!"

Ah Dai gave a wry smile and said, "Well then, I’ll summon it again. We can’t afford any more delays. The sooner we rescue the people of the Elf Clan, the less they’ll suffer."

The three men stepped out of the tent, and outside, a crowd had already gathered, including all members of the Mage Group and several hundred soldiers. Xiphil was not there, as if afraid to face the three of them, which seemed quite awkward. Rick stood in front of the soldiers sneering. He could hardly believe that a youth, looking no older than twenty, could summon a dragon. Seeing Ah Dai and his companions come out, Siri gave Rick a signal. Rick commanded the soldiers to spread out, clearing an area of several hundred square meters in the camp. Siri led his mages in chanting magic spells. Amongst the hundred members of the Mage Group were four archmages, twenty-seven advanced mages, and the rest were intermediate mages. Although they didn’t have any great magic ability, their years of cooperation enabled them to cast powerful group spells, which could even give a Wizard a headache. Under the dazzling light, a colorful magic barrier suddenly appeared in the cleared area, astonishing everyone with its brilliant hues.

Siri said to Ah Dai, "Elder, this barrier is one-way. It only defends from the inside. You can summon the dragon within the barrier without affecting the outside. However, we have never seen a dragon’s attack, so please be careful not to let it break the barrier."

Ah Dai nodded, walked straight into the barrier, and did not feel any resistance upon passing through, only sensing an energy fluctuation sweeping over him. Standing in the center of the open area, Ah Dai closed his eyes and used his spiritual power to send a message to Sheng Xie within the Dragon’s Blood. Sheng Xie, feeling the summons from Ah Dai, was overjoyed, "Brother, are you looking for me?"

Ah Dai told it through spiritual power, "Xiao Qie, I can only let you out for a little while, then you’ll have to come back, okay?"

Sheng Xie sounded somewhat aggrieved, "Brother, Xiao Qie is so bored! And it’s been a long time since I’ve had anything to eat, can you get me something to eat?"

Ah Dai was startled and asked, "Are you hungry?"

Sheng Xie replied, a bit embarrassed, "I’m not really hungry. But, but I’m a little bit craving." After all, he had only been born for half a year and still had a childlike nature, his fascination with food not inferior to Ah Dai’s craving for steamed buns when he was in Nino Small Town. Ah Dai deeply understood this feeling, "Alright, I’ll definitely try to get you something to eat. Okay, I’m going to let you out now, but don’t run around once you’re out."

The crowd outside the barrier grew anxious as they saw Ah Dai standing motionless. Rick hung a cold smile at the corner of his mouth. If after a little while longer, Ah Dai didn’t perform any magic to his satisfaction, he was ready to order Ah Dai’s capture. He muttered, "Spies of the Sunset Empire, you shall not escape from my hands."

Suddenly, Ah Dai opened his eyes wide. To make it more convincing, he stirred up the True Qi within him, and a white glow immediately radiated from his body. Under the cover of the Sacred Aura, Ah Dai’s simple face looked dignified. He softly chanted, "With the blood of the Divine Dragon as a guide, open now, the great gates of space and time." A blue halo spread from Ah Dai’s chest, scattering rings of blue light.

A tremendous roar of the dragon resounded throughout the heavens. Within the blue light, the figure of Sheng Xie appeared. In the sunlight, its over four-meter-long body coated in gray scales reflected dazzling lights, and the seven sharp horns on its head shone with golden brilliance. Its wings spread wide, it roared skyward, its golden eyes sparkling with an unusual radiance. Having finally gotten a chance to stretch, it naturally wanted to flex its body and shake off its spirit.

Having not seen Sheng Xie for several days, Ah Dai missed it dearly. Seeing its huge yet familiar form, he had already forgotten that he was being tested by those military forces. He leapt up lightly and floated down on top of Sheng Xie’s head, grabbing one of its sharp horns to stabilize himself. Sitting on Sheng Xie’s neck, Ah Dai patted its head, saying, "Xiao Qie, I’ve missed you so much!"

Sheng Xie hummed softly, and Ah Dai heard his voice resonate within him, "Brother, I’ve really wanted to see you too!"
