Chapter 90: Chapter 22: Pu Yan Warrior_3
Miao Fei and Wan Li drew their weapons, they guarded Moon Scar on both sides, Yue Ji’s Silver Arrows were already nocked to her bowstring. Meanwhile, the knights had already dismounted. Their deft movements hinted at their considerable strength. Their fierce aura made Moon Scar and his party look somewhat disadvantaged.
"How annoying, they’re disturbing my sleep. Ah Dai, what are you standing there for? Let’s go and see who’s being so recklessly." It turns out Xuan Yue had crawled out of the carriage. The noise had kept her from sleep, and she had been watching the situation unfold from a crack in the carriage. Seeing that Moon Scar was in an unfavourable position, she decided to step in.
Ah Dai helped Xuan Yue down from the carriage. Xuan Yue rubbed her sleepy eyes and said, "Moon Scar, what’s going on? Who’s blocking our way?"
Upon hearing Xuan Yue’s voice, all the knights turned their attention to her. Surprise flashed in Yan Shi’s eyes. "A magician?"
Ah Dai and Xuan Yue approached Moon Scar. Xuan Yue looked up at Yan Shi and said with a pout, "Why are you so tall? You’re making me look up."
As Yan Shi looked down, he was struck by Xuan Yue’s breathtaking beauty. Even with his strong will, he was momentarily taken aback and muttered, "What does my height have to do with you?"
Xuan Yue snorted, "What right do you have to stop us? I heard everything you said earlier. As long as we can defeat you, we can pass, right? Ah Dai, teach him a lesson."
Ah Dai was taken aback. "Me?" He didn’t have any confidence in winning after seeing Yan Shi’s previous performance.
Xuan Yue impatiently said, "Of course it’s you! It’s not like I’m going to do it. Hurry up! Let’s be done with them and continue our journey."
Ah Dai acknowledged and moved a step forward to face Yan Shi.
Yan Shi was not confident either. He had never fought a magician before, and only knew they were formidable. Wary, he held his long knife horizontally and said, "Then let’s begin."
Xuan Yue prodded Ah Dai from behind, "Show him the skill you used to split the wall."
Ah Dai was a bit puzzled about why Xuan Yue didn’t let him hide his martial arts, but he still drew his Tian Gang Sword. Upon witnessing this, Moon Scar didn’t stop him. He had been suspicious about Ah Dai’s heavy sword, so this was a good opportunity to see it for himself.
Surprised by the sight of Ah Dai’s Tian Gang Sword, Yan Shi hesitated momentarily but decided to raise his own long knife.
Suddenly, Ah Dai felt an unexplainable warmth enveloping him, enhancing his spirit as though he had boundless energy. A faint white glow enveloped his body, which wasn’t his True Qi, because he hadn’t exerted his power yet. He glanced back at Xuan Yue to find her playing with her magic wand, making faces at him. The white glow was unmistakably connected to her, likely a form of Support Magic.
In a deep voice, Yan Shi said, "Please instruct me", and firmly swung his long knife at Ah Dai.
Undeterred by the formalities, Ah Dai, although lacking in experience, was very familiar with such attacks. He yelled, raised his Tian Gang Sword, and struck the same way. The white glow of the True Qi surged brightly and met Yan Shi’s attack. In a deafening clash, Yan Shi’s long knife and Ah Dai’s Tian Gang Sword collided fiercely, and the impact stirred up a mini whirlpool of dust on the ground.
Ah Dai felt his True Qi was stronger than before, not only because his Life-Life Discipline had reached the fifth level, but also because of the earlier white glow.
Yan Shi felt a powerful force transmitted from Ah Dai’s sword, forcing him to step back. He, known for his strong physical strength, had never been pushed back by an opponent, let alone by a magician. Frustrated, he yelled and hacked his knife again, this time, with all his might.
Everyday in Stone Pond Town, Ah Dai had been splitting waves, so he was very familiar with chopping motions. He transferred the endless stream of True Qi from his body into his arms, and swung again. The clanging sound echoed continuously, as Ah Dai and Yan Shi stood their ground and chopped at each other relentlessly, turning the fight into a contest of strength.
After several clashes, Ah Dai gradually gained the upper hand. The incessant supply of True Qi from Life-Life Technique enabled him to maintain his strength. He also had the advantage of wielding the heavier Tian Gang Sword. Finally, on the eighteenth clash, Yan Shi’s long knife was broken by Ah Dai. The Tian Gang Sword, enveloped with intimidating True Qi, was heading straight at Yan Shi’s face. Startled, Ah Dai didn’t want to kill anyone. After several clashes, he felt a sense of fraternity towards Yan Shi. He understood that without Xuan Yue’s magic, he might not have been the more powerful one, especially given Yan Shi had already fought Moon Scar and had expended a lot of his energy. With a sharp twist of his wrist and a step to the right, he barely managed to divert the Tian Gang Sword into the ground. The sudden change of attack under full power put enormous strain on Ah Dai body, and he felt as though his chest had been smashed by a hammer. He tasted a touch of sweetness on his tongue and spat out a mouthful of blood.
Yan Shi was stunned. He had never been so close to death. Looking at the Tian Gang Sword half-buried in the dirt, he knew very well what would have happened if the sword had landed on him. He dropped his broken knife onto the ground.
