Chapter 851: Chapter 27 Pu Yan History_4

Hearing this, Ah Dai couldn’t help but recall the pirates he had encountered while making a boat with Goris. Goris had told him back then that those with green skin were the Dark Witchers.

With a pained expression, Pu Lin walked to the last mural. The mural depicted a group of humans dressed as magicians surrounding the Dark Demon God. Leading the humans was the one Pu Lin referred to as the Savior. The Dark Demon God’s body was oozing green blood, and beneath his feet, a large magic hexagram was faintly visible. Pu Lin said, "Finally, after humans had exterminated the Dark Demon Clan, the Savior led them to surround the Dark Demon God on a large mountain. There, with the gathering of all the high-level mages and the strongest warriors of mankind, and with the help of the Savior, they successfully killed the Dark Demon God and sealed his remnants and soul within the mountain range. That place is now known as the Death Mountain Range."

Xuan Yue and Ah Dai gasped in shock. They had never imagined that the very place they were preparing to go to was indeed the sealing site of the Ancient Demon God.

Pu Lin’s body seemed very weak, as he barely supported himself with a wooden staff and said mournfully, "In that great catastrophe, the Pu Yan tribe suffered the most. But in the end, when peace was restored to the continent, we were forgotten by all. They did not return our land to us, justifying that our numbers were too few to govern such a vast domain. Under the guidance of the Savior, the continent was divided into five major regions, which are now the Empire of Tian Jing, the Empire of Sunset City, the Empire of Huasheng, the Federation, and the Holy Church. The few remaining of our Pu Yan tribe became but one of the races within the Federation. After thousands of years of glory, the Pu Yan tribe finally fell into decline. Back then, if it weren’t for our Pu Yan tribe sacrificing the lives of our people to hold back the advance of the Dark Demon Clan, the Savior could not have united all of humanity and achieved the final victory. Yet, our Pu Yan tribe did not receive the respect we deserved."

Frowning, Xuan Yue asked, "Prophet Pu Lin, is this Savior you speak of the same as His Holiness God Feather, the first Pope of our Church?"

Pu Lin nodded and replied, "Indeed, the Savior I speak of is His Holiness God Feather, the first Pope. Our Pu Yan tribe has never held any resentment towards the Church because without His Holiness God Feather, there would be no continent as it is today. He had already taken great care of us back then. However, we do hate all the other races; it was our Pu Yan tribe that sacrificed so many lives to save most of them, yet when His Holiness God Feather proposed to return our lands, they were reluctant to do so. Disheartened by that matter, His Holiness God Feather retired to Divine Mountain within the Church. But what His Holiness God Feather did will never be forgotten, and the year he retired was proclaimed as the first year of the Holy Era."

Ah Dai said, "The Pu Yan tribe is truly pitiable! Ninety-five percent of your people perished; that’s an enormous number! Prophet Pu Lin, please don’t be sad."

Pu Lin shook his head somberly and said, "All of this happened a thousand years ago, what good does my sorrow do now? When His Holiness God Feather retired, he once said that a thousand years later, the continent would face another great calamity, and if it couldn’t be overcome, the continent would fall back into dire straits. The millennium is approaching, and the great calamity is about to arrive, and the only ones who can save mankind are you."

Xuan Yue frowned and said, "I still can’t believe that we are the so-called Saviors; with our power, it’s simply impossible to do anything significant on the continent, let alone help you. I think you should still try talking to His Holiness the Pope."

Pu Lin shook his head and said, "No, it’s you who can help our Pu Yan clan. Even his holiness, the Pope, cannot defy the will of God. Now, although your power is insufficient, there will come a day when you will understand everything I am doing today. In fact, I don’t want to ask anything of you. I just hope that when disaster strikes, you can preserve the bloodline of our Pu Yan clan and let our people continue to thrive on this continent. That would be enough for me."

Before Xuan Yue could speak, an impassioned Ah Dai, unable to contain his excitement, said impulsively, "Prophet Pu Lin, I promise you, if there really is such a disaster on the continent, I will definitely help your Pu Yan clan survive the crisis." Xuan Yue squeezed Ah Dai’s hand tightly, but still couldn’t stop him from speaking his mind.

A hint of reassured smile appeared on Pu Lin’s face as he said with a tremble in his voice, "Child, thank you. The future of our Pu Yan clan now depends entirely on you. Xuan Yue, I know as a member of the Holy Church you have many concerns. But would an old man in his twilight years like me deceive you? I only hope that my people can survive, and with that, my wish would be fulfilled."

Xuan Yue glared at Ah Dai and said, "Prophet Pu Lin, if everything is as you say, I promise you that I will do my best to preserve your Pu Yan clan, within the limits of my ability, of course. With our current abilities, we can’t even talk about protecting your Pu Yan clan, we have problems protecting ourselves." After speaking, a sly glint appeared in the depths of her eyes.

Pu Lin smiled slightly and said, "You girl, though young, you really are a clever one. Whatever I say now is less convincing than what you’ll see with your own eyes in the future. Remember your words today. Of course, asking for your help isn’t without compensation, follow me." With a light wave of his wooden staff, the stone wall at the last mural suddenly cracked open, revealing a narrow gap. Pu Lin walked in first, and Xuan Yue, in a low voice, said to Ah Dai, "Why are you so foolish? How could you impulsively agree to his request at first sight? Regardless of whether what he says is true, in such a dangerous place as the Pu Yan clan, you... forget it, I won’t scold you anymore, you wouldn’t understand anyway. Let’s go." After speaking, she pulled the confused Ah Dai into the crack in the stone wall.

This couldn’t be called another stone cave, for the space was too small—only about a dozen square meters—hence, it was more appropriate to call it a stone room. The walls were jagged and uneven, and in the center of the room stood a stone platform about one meter high with sides about half a meter long. Prophet Pu Lin was standing in front of the platform when he saw Ah Dai and Xuan Yue come in, he said, "It’s very presumptuous of me to ask for your help at our first meeting to assist our Pu Yan clan. In order to show our sincerity and enhance your power, I will give each of you a gift. Come here, Xuan Yue."

Xuan Yue glanced at Ah Dai and, letting go of his small hand, walked over. Prophet Pu Lin sighed and said, "Child, Pu Lin is my real name. I have another name on the continent. When I was young and wandering the continent, I used that name; that name is Yuan Mu."

Although Pu Lin’s words were calm, Xuan Yue was shocked as if thunder had exploded in her ears, and she staggered, exclaiming in astonishment, "What? You’re Mage Yuan Mu!" On the continent, besides the Holy Church, there were only three magicians who had reached the level of a magus. One was the State Preceptor of the Empire of Tian Jing and head of the Mage Guild, the Fire Magus Larthas, known for his Fire Magic. The second was the Empire of Sunset City’s chief court magician, Byinlog, who excelled in Wind Magic. The last, and most mysterious of them all, was Yuan Mu, the expert in Space Magic. Among the three great magi, in terms of offensive power, none rivaled the Fire Magus Larthas, but when it came to overall power, it was Yuan Mu who stood out. His Space Magic had once shocked the world, and even Xuan Yue’s father, Xuan Ye, the youngest Red Robe Priest of the Holy Church, had greatly admired him.

Pu Lin smiled faintly and said, "How so? Do I not look the part? But the truth is just as I say. The reason you can’t use magic here is because I have restricted the flow of Magic Elements with a Space Array. I disappeared from the continent after the Blood Sun event because I was waiting, waiting for your arrival. Don’t be too surprised, I am indeed Yuan Mu. What I am going to give you is my Magic Note. I dare not claim that my Space Magic is superior to the Holy Light Magic of the Holy Church. However, with the research of generations of prophets of our Pu Yan clan, it still holds considerable power. I know you possess many treasures, but this Magic Note is what you need the most. I can see you have an extraordinary magic talent; you just lack the necessary effort. My Space Magic doesn’t conflict with the Light Magic you’ve been practicing. On the contrary, they can complement each other. You must work hard, otherwise, you’ll fall far behind Ah Dai in achievements." As he spoke, Pu Lin drew a crack in the air with his hand, reached inside, and pulled out a thick leather-bound notebook, presenting it before Xuan Yue.
