Chapter 822: Chapter 21 Hades Evil Sword_3

Miao Fei’s eyes flashed with delight, and he smiled, "Miss, how do you do? I am Miao Fei, eighteen years old this year; handsome, dashing, and debonair—still without a girlfriend. What do you think...?"

Moon Scar coughed lightly, and turned to Xuan Yue, "Magician miss, why don’t you introduce yourself too? We still don’t know your names."

Xuan Yue glared at Miao Fei and said, "My name is Xuan Yue, and this is my friend Ah Dai, who is adept at Fire Magic."

Friend? Ah Dai was startled, He had never expected Xuan Yue to introduce him that way. Stepping forward, he said, "Nice to meet you."

Upon hearing Ah Dai’s name, Yue Ji tried to suppress a laugh and said, "Your name is quite odd! Ah Dai, is it?" Moon Scar glanced at the sword hilt that protruded from Ah Dai’s shoulder, his eyes sparkling with a peculiar light.

Ah Dai nodded slightly. He dared not meet Yue Ji’s intense gaze and instead lowered his head to look at Xuan Yue.

Looking peeved, Xuan Yue shot Yue Ji a glance and suggested, "Let’s get going." With that, she pulled on Ah Dai’s sleeve and led the way out of the city.

Once out of the city, Moon Scar pulled out a map, examined it and said, "Death Mountain Range is to the southwest. To get there, we must pass through the territories of the Pu Yan and Tian Yuan Clans. If we’re quick, I estimate it’ll take just over half a month. Miss Xuan Yue, do you have any suggestions?"

Xuan Yue was puzzled and replied, "Why not just go straight there? What kind of advice is needed?"

Moon Scar explained, "I’ve never been to the Tian Yuan Clan, so I’m not too clear about that. But the Pu Yan Clan is a very strange race. Even within the Federation, they seldom interact with other races and just live within their own territory. Plus, they don’t seem to welcome people from other races. The Pu Yan people are quite indifferent. I’ve been there once, and, ah—it was a painful memory! Even if you want to buy something there, no one would sell to you." 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

That caught Xuan Yue’s interest. "So you’re saying the Pu Yan Clan must be hiding some secrets, otherwise, they wouldn’t be so inhospitable."

Moon Scar nodded and said, "That should be the case. We are only passing through; as long as we try not to conflict with them, nothing should happen, I suppose. The Tian Yuan Clan’s situation is even more complicated, as many races live there. Each race has its own customs. Along the way, it might not be smooth sailing! We must still be careful."

Unconvinced, Xuan Yue retorted, "What’s there to be afraid of? When we get to the mountain, there will be a way. When we get there, we’ll see. We’re not going to provoke them, so how can they do anything to us? Walking like this is too slow. Shouldn’t we hire a carriage? It would be faster, and less tiring too."

Moon Scar laughed, "What? Hire a carriage? I’ve never heard of mercenaries traveling by carriage. Mercenaries hardly even ride horses unless they are part of a large Mercenary Corps like the Red Hurricane which have their own Cavalry Troops. No need for a carriage; if need be, when we get to the next city, we can just buy a few horses."

Xuan Yue muttered, "Mercenaries have so many restrictions! Why can’t we take a carriage? Hmph, I insist on taking one."

While Xuan Yue and Moon Scar were chatting, Yue Ji sidled up to Ah Dai, looked at him – who was a head taller than herself – and smiled coquettishly, "Ah Dai, hello; I’m Yue Ji."

Ah Dai was taken aback, feeling somewhat at a loss. Yue Ji was the second girl he had met since coming to the continent; she seemed much more mature than Xuan Yue. "Ah, hello, Miss Yue Ji."

Yue Ji thought to herself that it was no wonder he was called Ah Dai, as he indeed seemed somewhat simpleminded, "Ah Dai, why do you carry such a big sword? It must be over five feet long."

Just as Ah Dai was about to answer, Xuan Yue interjected, "His sword is for decoration, or maybe to clear a path, nothing more; it’s just for show, nothing compared to the prowess of your warriors."

Wan Li said, "That seems to be the case. Nevertheless, Brother Ah Dai’s sword is even longer than mine; it looks quite heavy! Among mages, you must have pretty good strength, Brother Ah Dai."

Ah Dai glanced at Xuan Yue, not understanding why he had to conceal his martial arts when they were supposed to be cooperating. He didn’t say much, just nodded slightly at Wan Li.

As Xuan Yue lacked stamina, she would clamor for breaks after walking for a while. After a whole day’s journey, they still hadn’t reached the next city. As dusk fell and the moon, like a pearl, gradually took the place of the setting sun, the illumination dimmed.

Moon Scar looked up at the sky and said to Xuan Yue, "Miss Xuan Yue, it looks like we’ll have to camp in the wild tonight. We’re still within the territory of the Red Charming Clan; at our current pace, once we reach the next city tomorrow, it seems we really will have to buy some horses."

At the mention of wild camping, Xuan Yue’s eyes lit up. Throwing back her cloak, she smiled, "Great! Then let’s camp for the night. Where should we set up camp?"

Seeing Xuan Yue’s dreamlike smile, Moon Scar was visibly stunned for a moment and, to cover his embarrassment, he quickly said, "When camping, it’s customary to find a spot sheltered from the wind and to clear a space; then you’re set."

Yue Ji pointed to a forest by the roadside and suggested, "Big brother, how about there? There shouldn’t be any wind tonight."

Moon Scar nodded and led everyone into the woods. Under the brilliant moonlight, the forest was filled with uneven, dancing shadows. At times, a soft breeze whispered through the leaves, adding a touch of mystery to the quiet woods. Moon Scar, his siblings, Wan Li, and Miao Fei efficiently removed their packs, took out tents made of soft cowhide, and quickly set them up. Soon, four small tents were erected, and they even used nails to secure the corners with stones found by Moon Scar. The tents were arranged in a circle, leaving an open space of over ten square meters in the middle.
